kenvandineso does gwibber-poster16:02
smspillazit looks like a race condition that we're not handling right16:02
om26erephan, I think how compiz handles expose et al this is currently not possible16:04
kenvandinealthough gwibber-poster might be different...it is  gray box and there is a hint of the contents of that box draw at the top right of the screen16:04
kenvandineopening it a second time usually works16:04
* kenvandine blames njpatel's fancy animation for it... i bet it isn't getting the right x,y all the time16:05
kenvandineso it tries to render the animated slide down starting at 0,016:05
kenvandinewhich has no window :)16:05
ephanom26er, I thought about it being possible or not too16:06
smspillazkenvandine: afaict its a problem with windows that change their override redirect state16:08
smspillaz(which you shouldn't really ever do, but ... the X protocol allows it for some insane reason)16:08
smspillazmakes life more difficult for me as there's no callback for override redirect state on a window being changed16:08
smspillazwhich is annoying, because all the sudden, you just can't manage it at all even when you think you should be able to16:09
kenvandineso maybe this is a different bug... probably a gwibber bug16:10
kenvandinewe might try to get the allocation too soon or something16:10
smspillazoh gosh this is more complicated than I thought16:15
smspillazkenvandine: its not your bug16:15

smspillazgahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh16:15
kenvandinehehe16:15
kenvandineit works most of the time16:15
smspillazits a race condition16:15
kenvandineyeah, i figured that16:16
smspillazthe window moves around within its "containment" window, that's not supposed to happen16:16
kenvandinewe calculate start and end positions and slid the entry down16:16
smspillaznow I need to figure out who is trying to move the window around16:16
kenvandinei force it to center the window16:17
kenvandine    set_position (Gtk.WindowPosition.CENTER);16:17
smspillazI may need to get x11vis up and running again to properly debug this one16:17
kenvandinesmspillaz, wow... even if i put in a huge timeout before show_all it happens16:27
kenvandinebut if i don't set_position at all, it never happens16:28
* kenvandine was hoping to at least work around it :)16:28
smspillazkenvandine: don't try to fight the window manager16:28
kenvandinehehe16:28
smspillazhonestly, it will end in tears16:28

* kenvandine is glad he doesn't maintain a window manager16:28

smspillazkenvandine: you know what reparenting is right ?16:29
kenvandineyes16:29
smspillazah ok16:29
smspillazthis is a nice bug in that :)16:29
kenvandineoh16:29
kenvandinejoy16:29
kenvandine:)16:29
smspillazbasically, we set a SubstructureRedirectMask on the frame window so that the client can't move around within it16:30
smspillazbut if we move the client ourselves within its frame, things get screwy16:30
smspillazthat's basically what's happening here16:30
kenvandineso even though i don't try to reparent, it is happening above me at some point in the stack16:30
smspillazis the window you're working with a toplevel16:30
smspillaz?16:30
kenvandineyes16:30
smspillazhmm16:30
smspillazis it a GTK_WINDOW_POPUP ?16:30
smspillazyou'll probably want to make it that anyways16:31
kenvandinei am not specifying it16:31
smspillaz(make sure it's not GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL, eg)16:31
smspillazah ok16:31
smspillazwhen you create the window, make sure its that16:31
kenvandinewill do16:31
smspillazthen it won't get reparented by compiz16:31
kenvandinewoot16:31
smspillazand you'll have less trouble doing animations and stuff with it16:31
smspillazhowever, you won't be able to alt-drag it and stuff16:32
smspillaz(basically it becomes an unmanaged window)16:32
kenvandineit isn't even decorated16:32
kenvandineand goes away if you click outside of it16:32
kenvandineso not important :)16:32
smspillaz(well, that's probably because you specify it to have no decorations, or it already is a popup window, which would be bad for me because that means this is two separate bugs)16:32
kenvandineok, making it a popup does fix this16:35

MBarvianhello all20:33
MBarviandoes the new Oneiric lightdm greeter use webkit or GTK?20:33
kenvandineMBarvian, i think gtk20:43
kenvandinenot webkit20:43
ephanso it's the lightdm-gtk package I guess20:43
om26erephan, hey20:43
kenvandineit is unity-greeter20:43
kenvandinethat is the package20:43
ephanah ok kenvandine20:43
ephanhey om26er20:43
om26erthere is a problem with your branch, open trash is only clickable when theres something in the trash, if trash is empty its inactive as well like the empty trash item20:44
ephan! I get it20:45
ephanBut is it in the menu item or the launcher icon?20:46
ephanOr both?20:46
agent00taido you guys have any idea why the lightdm-engine-webkit package vanished? is it not supported anymore or what's up with that?20:47
ephanom26er?20:48
om26erephan, the menu item ofcourse, sorry i was fullscreen20:53
ephanthanks, it's likely because I pretty much copied the code of the "Empty Trash" menu icon to make the new icon20:55
ephanLet me see that20:55
ephanBut om26er, the action to open the trash is fully working right?20:59
om26erephan, yes when its sensitive trash opens20:59
ephanQuicklistManager::Default()->HideQuicklist(self->_quicklist);21:00
ephanI got you evil line21:00
ephanom26er, I'm not sure if you have the time/patience to do this for me, but when programming one needs to debug. I found the place where the quicklist menu item's are hidden. I want to comment that line out and test if when that line is commented, neither the "Empty Trash" nor the "Open Trash" items go "hidden". This isn't the final fix, it's just a test I need to make.21:04
ephanCan you do it for me? If yes, I will commit and push with that line commented out.21:04
