rippsgeez, what's with all the chroot errors with autobuilders07:18
akoskmhi!07:55
akoskmI would like to include some custom information in my package names, like commit-id from git tree and such as, example I can do this by tagging a bzr commit with the actual commid-id (if there any other ways let me know). My question is, can I include such custom information when forming the name of my package with recipes, or I can only use the variables presented here: https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/SourceBuilds/Recipes ?07:59

commandolineHello, it looks like a bzr branch hosted on launchpad is broken. I can't branch it and the web view doesn't work (the branch is lp:openteacher/2.x)10:46

paultagHowdy LP'ers. Why is it after I delete a package that the PPA retains the orig(.*)?.tar.gz files?14:34
paultagI deleted a test package I made a while ago, and I re-uploaded it, and it rejected it because of a stale copy of a bum tgz14:35
nigelbdid you update version number?14:35
nigelbI remember there was a very valid reason for it not to delete14:35
paultagnigelb: I deleted the package14:35
nigelbpaultag: did you update eversion number on your reupload?14:35
paultagnigelb: no, that would be silly -- I deleted it on the archive14:36
nigelbI tend to remember that gotcha :)14:36
paultagnigelb: this is my dfsg2 repack, and I don't want to rename it to dfsg3 and rebuild everything to un-build it just to upload to a PPA14:36
paultagwhen I delete a package, it should be deleted14:37
nigelbpaultag: you can do a ppa214:37
nigelblike dfsg3~ppa2 or something (I think)14:37
paultagnigelb: they would have the same orig.tar.gz14:37
paultagnigelb: because it's dfsg2-1~ppa114:37
paultagnigelb: so debian local is 1~ppa114:37
nigelbyay, fun.14:37
paultagnigelb: and upstream has the same orig.tar.gz14:37
paultagwhich brings me back14:37
paultagwhy did it not delete an old package I uploaded?14:38
nigelbI don't know the precise answer, and I'm fairly sure those who know are asleep or away.14:38
paultagscrew it, I'll make *another* ppa14:38
nigelbheh14:39
tumbleweedpaultag: you simply can't delete it. Also you can't delete PPAs14:47
tumbleweedpaultag: so stop worrying and bump the version number14:48
nigelbI tried telling that :P14:49
tumbleweednigelb: people don't want to hear it :)14:49
tumbleweed(quite reasonably. I don't think PPAs are very newbie / mistake-friendly)14:49

paultagtumbleweed: I'm not pushing to a PPA to publish it15:24
paultagtumbleweed: and I'm not a newbie, thank you :)15:24
paultagtumbleweed: I'm making sure Fluxbox will build on ubuntu versions before I upload to Debian15:24
tumbleweedpaultag: no, but you're not the only person to complain bitterly about this15:24
paultagtumbleweed: I don't care about it breaking other people, I just want to use it15:24
tumbleweedpaultag: people who use PPas to build things / test building things don't want debian archive semantics, they want it to do what they say15:25
paultagright15:25
paultagit's a fancy pbuilder to me :)15:25
tumbleweedI rarely use PPas for test building, local building is faster and you can debug failures15:26
paultagtumbleweed: yeah, but I've not got Ubuntu and this machine is a 1GHZ Atom that can't virtualize15:26
paultagtumbleweed: so I debug locally for Debian and upload to a PPA to make sure it will sync fine15:26
paultagI'm looking out for the MOTU here :)15:26
tumbleweedheh15:27
paultagAh, christ. Thank jeebus I checked!15:27
paultaglooks like a depdendency is not syncd yet15:27
paultagso it would have broke15:27
paultagthanks ya'll :)15:27
GTRsdkpaultag: which dependency?15:28
paultagGTRsdk: libmagickcore4-extra, I got a bug that 3 was being trasitioned out and I should fix the depends15:29
paultagGTRsdk: did it and forgot about it, I'll check onerick15:29
paultagit should have got in before DIF15:29
GTRsdkoneiric currently has the newest packages15:29
paultagyeah looks like one-rick libmagickwand3 and not 415:31
paultagOK, BBL15:31
paultagone love15:31
GTRsdkis it possible to get the build score for packages in a PPA lower?15:54
paultagGTRsdk: https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/BuildScores :)15:56
GTRsdkI should change oneiric in the change log to oneiric-backports?15:56
paultagGTRsdk: there's no reason to :)15:56
GTRsdkpaultag: why?15:56
paultagGTRsdk: why do you want a lower score? It's not a big deal to the farm, and it's also not a backport :)15:57
GTRsdkpaultag: some packages take x hours to build.15:57
paultagGTRsdk: yeah, but there's more then one machine, if it's going to build, let it build15:58
paultagGTRsdk: wait, you know this is not like golf, right? higher score = faster queue time15:58
GTRsdkpaultag: yeah. there are some builds that have a negative score and will take many days for them to be started15:59
paultagyeah, like a copy from the ubuntu archive15:59
GTRsdkyeah.16:00
