swiss-chrisI'm using Thunderbird 3.1.13 on ubuntu 10.4 and since a few days I cannot connect to any of my usual mail servers anymore. I keep getting the error message: Login to server XYZ failed. I tried completely uninstalling Thunderbird and reinstalling, same problem persists. Webmail login with same credentials works fine. Any ideas what could be wrong? Do I need to uninstall other mozilla software...14:17
swiss-chris...as well? (Like Firefox, add-ons, ???).14:17

chrisccoulsonwell, what a fun day :/15:11
micahgswiss-chris: are you located in the netherlands?16:25
micahgchrisccoulson: thanks for the tip on the 3.0 kernel build, maybe I should've stayed on natty :(, so I can't test build anything at this point?16:37
chrisccoulsonmicahg, just upload it, it's fine :)16:38
micahgchrisccoulson: ok, thanks16:38
chrisccoulsonbut you can work around it by copying Linux2.6.mk to Linux3.0.mk16:38
chrisccoulsonbut that is just a temporary workaround to let you build the beta16:38
micahgthis is for Firefox 616:38
chrisccoulsonthe versioned makefiles have gone in the latest NSS16:38
chrisccoulsonright16:38
chrisccoulsonsame applies to release :)16:39
chrisccoulsonit's fixed in trunk16:39
chrisccoulsonand maybe aurora too16:39
micahgso, in 9 then?16:39
micahgok16:39
* micahg doesn't like not being able to test build new releases, these point release should be pretty dafe16:39
micahg*sage16:39
micahg*safe16:39
chrisccoulsonmicahg, did you see i hit a bit of an issue when building the latest beta today? ;)16:41
chrisccoulsonbug 84182516:41
ubot2`Launchpad bug 841825 in gcc-4.6 "gcc SIGSEGV when building Firefox and Thunderbird" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/84182516:41
micahgchrisccoulson: yeah, that doesn't look good16:41
micahgchrisccoulson: at least upstream (gcc) found the cause already16:42
micahgheh, doko with upstream hat :)16:42
micahgchrisccoulson: BTW, thunderbird rocks in oneiric as long as I keep the messaging menu integration disabled16:43
chrisccoulsonoh, what happens with that?16:43
chrisccoulsonthat's actually totally broken on new upgrades/installs16:44
chrisccoulsonbug 83915416:44
ubot2`Launchpad bug 839154 in thunderbird "[Oneiric] Messaging Menu still showing "Set up mail" with Thunderbird fully configured" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/83915416:44
micahgchrisccoulson: I'm experiencing Bug #84075116:53
ubot2`Launchpad bug 840751 in thunderbird "Thunderbird hangs on launch" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/84075116:53
micahgchrisccoulson: doko just upload a gcc fix (revert) for your firefox issue16:54
chrisccoulsonmicahg, do you have libunity4 installed?17:14
micahgchrisccoulson: indeed17:15
chrisccoulsonwhat version?17:15
micahg3.8.4-0ubuntu117:15
micahgthis is in unity-2d17:15
chrisccoulsonok17:15
micahgah, there are 2 libunitys :(17:15
chrisccoulsonyour bug is the same as bug 83915417:15
ubot2`Launchpad bug 839154 in thunderbird "[Oneiric] Messaging Menu still showing "Set up mail" with Thunderbird fully configured" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/83915417:15
micahgchrisccoulson: should I remove libunity4?17:20
chrisccoulsonmicahg, it doesn't matter. it won't work either way17:20
micahgah, ok17:20
chrisccoulsonthe issue is that natty's libunity4, which is what you have installed, pulls a version of libdbusmenu with an older ABI in to memory, alongside the current oneiric version17:21
FernandoMiguelevening22:23
chrisccoulsoni've decided that ctypes makes it to easy to break firefox and thunderbird22:47
chrisccoulson**too easy22:48
micahg\o/ progress :)23:23
chrisccoulsonmicahg ??23:25
micahgthey made it easier to break firefox with an extension :)23:25
chrisccoulsoni'm just uploading thunderbird, which should fix your problem23:25
chrisccoulsonlol23:25
chrisccoulsonyeah ;)23:25
micahgchrisccoulson: awesome, thanks23:25
chrisccoulsonoh, man, i don't want people to think i'm criticizing firefox - https://twitter.com/#!/firefoxfail/status/11085977312100761623:44
chrisccoulsonbut being retweeted by "firefoxfail" probably suggests that ;)23:44
micahglol23:46

* micahg points chrisccoulson at the thunderbird build failures...23:51
chrisccoulsonyeah, i've seen those already23:52
chrisccoulsonthat sucks, i uploaded the wrong tarball ;)23:52
* micahg wonders how that's possible23:52
chrisccoulsonthe first one i created earlier failed23:53
chrisccoulsoni must have deleted the wrong one23:53
chrisccoulsonmicahg, we can create tarballs on lillypilly now btw, without having to install any extra stuff (like cdbs or mozilla-devscripts) :)23:59
