knome | chrisccoulson_, hey | 11:16 |

swiss-chris | I'm using Thunderbird 3.1.13 on ubuntu 10.4 and since a few days I cannot connect to any of my usual mail servers anymore. I keep getting the error message: Login to server XYZ failed. I tried completely uninstalling Thunderbird and reinstalling, same problem persists. Webmail login with same credentials works fine. Any ideas what could be wrong? Do I need to uninstall other mozilla software... | 14:17 |
swiss-chris | ...as well? (Like Firefox, add-ons, ???). | 14:17 |

chrisccoulson | well, what a fun day :/ | 15:11 |
micahg | swiss-chris: are you located in the netherlands? | 16:25 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: thanks for the tip on the 3.0 kernel build, maybe I should've stayed on natty :(, so I can't test build anything at this point? | 16:37 |
chrisccoulson | micahg, just upload it, it's fine :) | 16:38 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: ok, thanks | 16:38 |
chrisccoulson | but you can work around it by copying Linux2.6.mk to Linux3.0.mk | 16:38 |
chrisccoulson | but that is just a temporary workaround to let you build the beta | 16:38 |
micahg | this is for Firefox 6 | 16:38 |
chrisccoulson | the versioned makefiles have gone in the latest NSS | 16:38 |
chrisccoulson | right | 16:38 |
chrisccoulson | same applies to release :) | 16:39 |
chrisccoulson | it's fixed in trunk | 16:39 |
chrisccoulson | and maybe aurora too | 16:39 |
micahg | so, in 9 then? | 16:39 |
micahg | ok | 16:39 |
* micahg doesn't like not being able to test build new releases, these point release should be pretty dafe | 16:39
micahg | *sage | 16:39 |
micahg | *safe | 16:39 |
chrisccoulson | micahg, did you see i hit a bit of an issue when building the latest beta today? ;) | 16:41 |
chrisccoulson | bug 841825 | 16:41 |
ubot2` | Launchpad bug 841825 in gcc-4.6 "gcc SIGSEGV when building Firefox and Thunderbird" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/841825 | 16:41 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: yeah, that doesn't look good | 16:41 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: at least upstream (gcc) found the cause already | 16:42 |
micahg | heh, doko with upstream hat :) | 16:42 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: BTW, thunderbird rocks in oneiric as long as I keep the messaging menu integration disabled | 16:43 |
chrisccoulson | oh, what happens with that? | 16:43 |
chrisccoulson | that's actually totally broken on new upgrades/installs | 16:44 |
chrisccoulson | bug 839154 | 16:44 |
ubot2` | Launchpad bug 839154 in thunderbird "[Oneiric] Messaging Menu still showing "Set up mail" with Thunderbird fully configured" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/839154 | 16:44 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: I'm experiencing Bug #840751 | 16:53 |
ubot2` | Launchpad bug 840751 in thunderbird "Thunderbird hangs on launch" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/840751 | 16:53 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: doko just upload a gcc fix (revert) for your firefox issue | 16:54 |
chrisccoulson | micahg, do you have libunity4 installed? | 17:14 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: indeed | 17:15 |
chrisccoulson | what version? | 17:15 |
micahg | 3.8.4-0ubuntu1 | 17:15 |
micahg | this is in unity-2d | 17:15 |
chrisccoulson | ok | 17:15 |
micahg | ah, there are 2 libunitys :( | 17:15 |
chrisccoulson | your bug is the same as bug 839154 | 17:15 |
ubot2` | Launchpad bug 839154 in thunderbird "[Oneiric] Messaging Menu still showing "Set up mail" with Thunderbird fully configured" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/839154 | 17:15 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: should I remove libunity4? | 17:20 |
chrisccoulson | micahg, it doesn't matter. it won't work either way | 17:20 |
micahg | ah, ok | 17:20 |
chrisccoulson | the issue is that natty's libunity4, which is what you have installed, pulls a version of libdbusmenu with an older ABI in to memory, alongside the current oneiric version | 17:21 |
FernandoMiguel | evening | 22:23 |
chrisccoulson | i've decided that ctypes makes it to easy to break firefox and thunderbird | 22:47 |
chrisccoulson | **too easy | 22:48 |
micahg | \o/ progress :) | 23:23 |
chrisccoulson | micahg ?? | 23:25 |
micahg | they made it easier to break firefox with an extension :) | 23:25 |
chrisccoulson | i'm just uploading thunderbird, which should fix your problem | 23:25 |
chrisccoulson | lol | 23:25 |
chrisccoulson | yeah ;) | 23:25 |
micahg | chrisccoulson: awesome, thanks | 23:25 |
chrisccoulson | oh, man, i don't want people to think i'm criticizing firefox - https://twitter.com/#!/firefoxfail/status/110859773121007616 | 23:44 |
chrisccoulson | but being retweeted by "firefoxfail" probably suggests that ;) | 23:44 |
micahg | lol | 23:46 |

* micahg points chrisccoulson at the thunderbird build failures... | 23:51
chrisccoulson | yeah, i've seen those already | 23:52 |
chrisccoulson | that sucks, i uploaded the wrong tarball ;) | 23:52 |
* micahg wonders how that's possible | 23:52
chrisccoulson | the first one i created earlier failed | 23:53 |
chrisccoulson | i must have deleted the wrong one | 23:53 |
chrisccoulson | micahg, we can create tarballs on lillypilly now btw, without having to install any extra stuff (like cdbs or mozilla-devscripts) :) | 23:59 |
