g00seAre there any expert install options - i'm using natty 64?12:36
knomeg00se, by "expert", what are you expecting?12:41
g00seknome: Well i suppose text mode, feedback etc. I'm wondering what's being run during creation of an ext4 fs. My disk possibly has many bad blocks12:43
knomeg00se, you can install in text mode with the alternative install12:45
knomeg00se, i'm not sure, but i think other TTY's might have some information on what's happening12:45
g00seknome: Thanks - i might look at the alternate12:48
g00seIt would give me more confidence if i knew what the installer did about bad blocks on the target medium though13:10
epzil0nhi guys, i'm a bit confused over why i can't connect to my windows shares in thunar and the same goes for my NAS, ofc i can use thunar smb://user@host/share in a terminal or smb://user@host/share in thunars location field, but that's just not the way i like to do it.. any suggestions?14:30
knomesmbfs to mount the samba share to any directory14:30
epzil0nknome: can you give me an example?14:31
knomeepzil0n, install smbfs, then run 'smbfs remote-host:/remote/dir /local/dir'14:32
knomeepzil0n, ^ in a nutshell14:32
epzil0nknome: nice, is it sudo apt-get install smbfs or?14:33
knomeyup, as far as i can remember14:33
epzil0nknome: ok, will the mounted share be in that dir permanently?14:34
knomeepzil0n, no14:34
epzil0nknome: or do i have to mess with the /etc/fstab file?14:34
knomeepzil0n, yeah, fstab14:35
epzil0nknome: ok, i would like to use bookmarks  like in nautilus, but i installed krusader and that works also.. but would like to have it in thunar14:35
knomeepzil0n, when you've mounted that, you can naturally add that directory as a bookmark14:36
knomeepzil0n, i do that myself with my ssh(fs) mounts14:36
epzil0nknome: ok, where is the bookmark option then?14:37
knomeepzil0n, well, to be exact, the parent dir to my ssh(fs) mounts :)14:37
epzil0n^^14:37
knomeepzil0n, Ctrl+B in thunar opens (closes) the bookmark sidebar, just drag any folder there14:37
knomeepzil0n, after that, you can rename the bookmarks to whatever you want14:38
epzil0nknome: thx a lot for your help, now i know what to do =)14:38
knomeepzil0n, np14:38
epzil0nbtw, the beta 1 release works great love it =)14:40
knomegood to hear that14:41
epzil0nknome: well there was no bookmark sidebar the ctrl+b toggles shortcuts and i can't find an option to add the share as a bookmark or shortcut?14:50
knomeepzil0n, drag a folder into the sidebar14:51
epzil0nknome: ok, i have to mount it in a dir first.. gave me a error mess14:53
epzil0nknome: it didn't work the way you showed me15:15
epzil0nknome: but this worked sudo mount -t smbfs -o username=user,password=pass //remote-host/remote/dir /local/dir15:16
epzil0nknome: anyways i now have i bookmark/shortcut of that share in thunar =)15:17
d0lphchrisTHi there, I've just tested a small C example that generates a sine and plays it using alsa. Now I can only play sound using that example. Anything else like playing a video with VLC or music via Banshee results in silence. Has someone an idea what I did wrong?15:36
d0lphchrisTthe sample I've used is this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12845003/OscMain.cpp15:37

gordonjcpwhich CPU family is Xubuntu compiled for?  "normal" Ubuntu is compiled for i686 since 10.10, but I want something newer than 10.04 that will run on an i586 SoC21:31
Myrttixubuntu uses exactly same kernels than normal ubuntu21:31
Myrttithe packages come from the same place21:32
gordonjcpoh, fair enough21:32
