michaelh1Hi there.  For some reason I can't assign people to the gcc-linaro aspect of https://bugs.launchpad.net/gcc-linaro/+bug/736661 - any ideas why?00:10
ubot5Ubuntu bug 736661 in Linaro GCC "armel FTBFS due to compiler ICE" [High,Triaged]00:10
michaelh1Huh, I can if I click on 'Importance' and do it via the +editstatus page.  On the main page the (!) icon doesn't show beside the user name...00:14
wgrantmichaelh1: AJAX is currently disabled on bugs with more than 10 tasks. The status/importance edit buttons become normal links to the edit form in that case, but assignee apparently doesn't :/00:17
michaelh1wgrant: OK.  Should I file a bug?00:22
wgrantmichaelh1: Please do.00:23
* micahg thought we had one for that...00:27

hakermaniaHey, I've made a branch and I've already uploaded 2 revisions. Now I want to have a file to the Downloads Section on the front page of my project. Should I 'Create release'?07:43
wgranthakermania: Yep, download files are part of a release.07:44
hakermaniawgrant, and what's a milestone? It asks for this.07:48
wgranthakermania: Milestones are often used for tracking bug fixes, eg. bugs to be fixed in 1.0 would be targeted to the 1.0 milestone. A release is a special state of a milestone, so you need to create one if it doesn't already exist.07:51
hakermaniawgrant, the name (of the milestone) should be like Wallch 2.2?07:54
wgranthakermania: Just 2.207:55
hakermaniaok thanks07:55
mrevellHallo08:10
hakermaniamrevell, hallo08:16
hakermaniawgrant, The Downloads section is just an alternative to provide some files?08:17
wgranthakermania: Normally people use it to provide downloadable tarballs or installers or similar.08:17
mrevellHi hakermania08:19
hakermaniawgrant, installers == deb files?08:20
steev_hi all, i submitted a bug recently ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zeitgeist/+bug/843598 ) and it was marked as a duplicate (i agree completely, i'd seen a bug report previously) but the issue i'm seeing is, apport retracing service marks it as a duplicate, but, the link it gives for the duplicate bug gives a 40408:20
ubot5Error: Bug #843598 is a duplicate of bug #840456, but it is private (https://launchpad.net/bugs/840456)08:20
steev_ah, that's why08:20
steev_because it's private08:20
steev_can someone with access peek in there and let me know if it's fix committed/fix released/if there is a workaround?  because currently, zeitgeist likes to use up all my cpu :)08:22
lifelesshakermania: no, installers == .exe for windows, or .damage for mac08:23
lifelesserm .dmg :)08:23
hakermanialifeless, so I shouldn't have DEB files as Downloads?08:23
lifelessno08:23
lifelessthey are best put in a PPA08:23
bigjoolss/put/built/08:24
hakermanialifeless, so, to understand better, branches are the current developing code (UNSTABLE) available on the net, and at the 'Downloads' should be the last STABLE tarball?08:25
lifelesshakermania: branches - yes. downloads yes-for-a-given-release.08:27
lifelessyou can have multiple releases all with their own downloads08:27

sladenwgrant: Why is bug #843027 a question, not a bug?09:03
ubot5Launchpad bug 843027 in Launchpad itself "Registry: isc-dhcp 4.x Release URL too specific" [Undecided,Invalid] https://launchpad.net/bugs/84302709:03

sladenwgrant: a question, implies that there might be an answer, and that I could then effect that answer09:04
wgrantsladen: Regular data issues are not bugs in Launchpad.09:04
wgrantBugs are problems in the code or production setup.09:04
sladenwgrant: so +answers are used for the running instance at lp.net?09:05
wgrantsladen: Roughly, yes.09:05
diwicI'm having problems with a launchpad daily recipe that fails to build. I think it's a bug in launchpad because it builds fine here, but on launchpad it claims it cannot install "dh-autoreconf", and as a consequence, it fails to build the source package.09:06
wgrantNeeds a code fix? It's a bug.09:06
wgrantProduction issue? Maybe RT, possibly a bug.09:06
wgrantData issue like that? Question.09:06
sladenwgrant: mmhmm.  okay09:07
diwicIt's only the oneiric build that fails, the natty one succeeds. https://launchpadlibrarian.net/79186964/buildlog.txt.gz09:07
wgrantdiwic: apt is great at giving error messages, as usual. The problem appears to be that libxcb-atom1-dev has been removed.09:09
wgrantlibxcb-util0-dev may replace it, but I'm not sure.09:10
diwicwgrant, thanks. Looking into it.09:10
diwicSomewhat strange that it keeps dh-autoreconf from being installed though?09:10
diwicOr does it just give up when it finds one it can't install, but installs everyone above that and none below?09:11
wgrantdiwic: apt works in strange ways :/09:12
wgrantI'm not entirely sure of details.09:12

steev_so what does one do when a bug is closed as a duplicate, but the duplicate bug is set private?11:24
steev_i read through https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/434733 and i somewhat understand the reasoning of the choice, but it's particularly frustrating when it's an app that continuously keeps crashing11:31
ubot5Ubuntu bug 434733 in Launchpad itself "marking public bug as duplicate of private bug leads to confusing UI" [High,Triaged]11:31
wgrantIt's really an apport bug. It shouldn't mark bugs as dupes of a private one.11:33
wgrantLP can't really do any more.11:33
