LLStarkshi, will there be any new daily kernels before kernel.org comes back?02:30
ppisatimorning *06:34
apwLLStarks, we hadn't expected it to be away for so very long07:04
apwmorning07:04
janimodoes the kernel team do cross builds of ARM kernels when testing?10:08
ppisatijanimo: i always cross compile11:00
ppisatijanimo: from time to time, i do a native kernel compilation but it's way too slow11:01
janimoppisati, is the process written up somewhere, is the kernel wiki up-to-date?11:02
ppisatijanimo: uhm11:03
ppisatijanimo: don't think so11:03
janimoppisati, :D11:03
ppisatijanimo: but baisally you have to11:03
ppisatijanimo: export $(dpkg-architecture -aarmel); export CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabi-11:03
janimoI'd like to use that approach for the ac100 package which has an external git tree11:03
ppisatijanimo: fakeroot debian/rules clean; fakeroot debian/rules binary-$flavour11:03
ppisatiand that's it11:03
janimoppisati, ok. How do I set up the tree initially. Vanilla kernel upstream flavour and over that some deb/ubuntu specific directories11:04
ppisatijanimo: yep, somehow11:04
janimothen I git pull/rebase/cherry pick and do a new debsrc build11:04
ppisatijanimo: more or less is what i did with the omap4 kernel11:05
ppisatijanimo: look at the oneiric/omap4 branch11:05
ppisatijanimo: the first... 5? 6? commits11:05
ppisatijanimo: are the "debianification" of a vanilla linux tree11:05
ppisatimore or less11:05
janimoppisati, thanks will check11:09

tgardnersmoser, well, I didn't have a lot of choice :)12:40
tgardnerogasawara, do you still want to add these last 2 patches from the list onto master-next ?13:10
ogasawaratgardner: was just looking at them.  might as well get em onto master-next as I'm sure we'll do another upload prior to release.13:11
ogasawaratgardner: but I'm following SRU policy so want 2 ack's before applying13:11
tgardnerogasawara, ack13:12
tgardnerogasawara, I also dumped the 'ata: make DVD drive recognisable on systemswith Sandybridge CPT chipset' patch on ubuntu-p so we don't lose it.13:42
ogasawaratgardner: cool, thanks13:42

ubot2bugzilla.redhat.com bug 699156 in kernel "Large amount of acpi interrupts on lenovo y560p with 2.6.38+" [Unspecified,New]14:10
jonprywhile rc4 is definitely the coolest running kernel to date. (73C at idle), it seems to have taken the interrupts to a new level. Over 100k per second now. 14:18

hallynIs there a url to point to about the official stance on kernel backports to LTS?18:29
ogasawarahallyn: I'm unaware of anything myself, but tgardner would probably be the one to ask if something did exist.18:35
hallynogasawara: ok, thanks.  I thought something came out of UDS about 'official' support.  will wait for tgardner :)18:40
* ogasawara lunch19:33
tgardnerhallyn, yes, there is official LTS backport support. 19:46
hallyntgardner: is there a URL to point people to?  19:49
tgardnerhallyn, not as far as I know. I think details are to be announced at UDS. you could bug risk spencer for details in the meantime,.19:50
tgardnerrick*19:50
hallyntgardner: ok, but the official ones are the linux-image-server-lts-backport-natty etc packages (not kernel-ppa) right?19:51
hallyntgardner: thanks19:51
tgardnerhallyn, correct. all official packages are in Lucid main19:52
hallyngreat, thanks19:52
tgardnerhallyn, any idea where I could find a kernel.org mirror that might have a copy of b43-open/ucode5.fw ?19:53
hallyntgardner: whose tree was that in?  i only found out here yesterday about Linus' github mirror :)19:55
hallynand that's not there, sorry.  19:56
tgardnerhallyn, from dmesg: 'May 9 13:39:19 (none) user.err kernel: b43-phy0 ERROR: You must go to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware and download the correct firmware for this driver version. Please carefull read all instructions on this website'19:56
tgardnerhallyn, I think I found it in openwrt.19:56
hallynyikes. that sucks19:57
hallynI'm really curious to see if they'll figure out the attack vector used19:57
tgardnerI'd sure like to see kernel.org reappear.19:57
