hrwtwb`: I know09:18
twb`File an RFP09:18
hrwwould not ask if it would be ;D09:18

rbasakI'm having trouble "PXE" booting my pandaboard. I'm doing "setenv pxecfg_ram 0×88000000" yet "pxecfg get" reports "Load address: 0x0" and then it crashes. Has something changed since the docs I'm reading, or am I just using an old u-boot version?09:42
* rbasak asks in #u-boot09:46
jamespagerbasak: this works for me - https://gist.github.com/120575110:22
rbasakThanks jamespage. Why the second partition?10:57
jamespagerbasak: I don't think you actually need that if you are just using for PXE boot/install10:57
jamespagebut that is a standard 2 partition layout10:58
rbasakAh OK10:59
rbasakI've not seen ENV.txt before10:59
jamespageI got that off the Ubuntu ARM QA page10:59
jamespagemy arm preseed pulls that script in the late_command onto the install system11:00
jamespageso I can just login and re-image the SD card ready for a fresh network install11:00
jamespagereboot and off you got - tada!11:00
rbasakOK that worked, I think it was the MLO/u-boot.bin binaries that I was using that didn't have proper support11:01
rbasakNow I just need to fix the cobbler end - it's not booting an i386 kernel for some strange reason :-)11:01
jamespagerbasak, I did jot a few notes11:02
jamespagehttp://pad.ubuntu.com/arm-server-netboot11:03
rbasakthanks!11:03
janimoppisati, hi, do you need to do anything special in cross kernel builds for the linux-tools package? I read they were special in some regard and may need extra cross libs11:18
rbasakjamespage: all working, no issues at all following your instructions - thanks!11:38
jamespagerbasak, np - glad it was helpful11:39

nasatyotest12:45
ppisatijanimo: never cross compiled linux-tools13:00
ppisatijanimo: when i recompiled it, i did it on the panda13:01
ppisatijanimo: after it's not much stuff13:01
janimoppisati, but when you build a source package, does it not build the tools too?13:01
ppisatijanimo: no13:01
ppisatijanimo: ah wait13:01
janimohmm, I thought it is the same source. perf & co13:01
ppisatijanimo: i alwats cross compile just one kernel flavour13:01
ppisatijanimo: yep, same source13:01
ppisatijanimo: but i just cross the kernel13:02
janimoah13:02
janimoI thought everything that is built on the servers is also cross compiled before by devs while testing13:02
ppisatijanimo: just cross compile the kernel because is handy13:03
ppisatiand much faster13:03
janimojcrigby, have you cross-compiled  linux-tools for the kernels you maintain?13:03
janimoppisati, indeed13:03
ppisati"13:11
rsalvetijanimo: there are a few patches specifically for proper cross support at linux-linaro13:17
rsalvetiafaik for scripts and so on13:17
rsalvetimaybe jcrigby also fixed the tools13:18
jcrigbyjanimo, I am able to cross compile with do_tools on.  There are some patches there that make it work.  You also need some arm libs installed.13:58
janimojcrigby, is this written up somewhere? Specifically which patches and which libs :)13:59
jcrigbyjanimo, no but I will do that and put it in a wiki and let you know.13:59
janimojcrigby, I'd like to do a full cross-build of a kernel tree for a single flavour, the toshiba ac100, and to follow linaro/ubuntu kernel processes13:59
janimojcrigby, thanks a lot!14:00
jcrigbyjanimo, np.  Something I've been meaning to do for some time.14:00
