TakyojiAnyone have an idea of an alternative for people to map their location, as of our LoCo?02:15
h00kTakyoji: alternative to...?02:52
tonyyarussoTakyoji: I'm still using 10.04...holding out for Gnome 3 to be in the repos.02:53
tonyyarussoh00k: LP used to have a Google Maps feature, but removed it :(02:54
h00k:o oh, they did!02:54
Takyojitonyyarusso: a replacement for the map feature on Launchpad03:45
* Obsidian1723 is waiting for a fork of gnome203:52
Obsidian1723I'm not a fan of gnome3 or unity at all.03:52
Obsidian1723unity, gnome3, and even Windows 8 Metro UIs, all alienate users.03:53
TakyojiSo yea, I'm writing a poll about that, for the mailing list. :P03:53
Obsidian1723I love gnome2's minimalistic-yet-very-customizable approache. XFCE is close, but close enough. It lacks.03:54
Obsidian1723Unless someone forks gnome2, I'll probably just go to the command line or XFCE.03:55
TakyojiI have the questions "current distro", "distro you'd suggest to others", and so on. Should I have it single choice or multiple choices?03:57
Takyojiare there any distros where GNOME 3 is pretty much choiceless? :P04:06
tonyyarussoWhat do you mean by choiceless?04:25
Takyojias in it being the default desktop environment, I guess04:25
tonyyarussoFedora04:29
TakyojiAlso, should I have it multiple choice or not for questions of "current desktop OS", "desktop OS you'd suggest to others", etc?04:30
TakyojiWhereas, they can choose more than one option at once or not04:30
Takyojitonyyarusso: Look good? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dHV5N19XOGFDbFozNkhiUWVhNy1IV0E6MQ04:50
tonyyarussoTakyoji: um, Unix is not Linux.05:00
TakyojiI know that05:00
TakyojiSo "none of the above", or? :P05:00
tonyyarussoyeah05:01
TakyojiOr "nothing Linux/Unix"?05:01
tonyyarussosure05:01
tonyyarussoYou may also need to explain the "as of a year ago" bit to people more.  Like, but a blurb at the top stating your purpose, so they know what's going on.05:02
h00kTakyoji: I may have responded, but I'm from WI. Don't kill me.05:02
tonyyarussoAlso, I'd suggest calling it a "survey" instead of a "poll".05:02
Takyojiafter I already sent it across the mailing lists with that title. :P05:05
TakyojiQuite nifty of Google Doc's realtime nature.05:09
TakyojiOne of them in favor of of Unity and GNOME 3, another with hatred of GNOME 3 and Unity05:13
TakyojiHeh, a likeminded person05:16
TakyojiUnity is horrendous on a multi-monitor setup; really annoys me that it still hasn't been addressed05:16
TakyojiI have 2 monitors05:17
rlaagerThat's how all this new stuff is. It works on some developer's machine and they push it out.05:17
rlaagerMeanwhile, those of us that actually want to do things with our computers have to endure init scripts that blow up (upstart), machines that don't boot or show no/broken status (plymouth), etc.05:17
Takyojireally disappointing to see all those great GNOME 3 panel applet go to waste05:18
TakyojiYou should see how spiffy I have my setup, I actually have it where there's a panel on the right (like 100 pixels wide or so) on a widescreen display, and use that panel to display rows of realtime graphs of CPU usage, RAM, network usage, SWAP, and so on05:18
Takyojiand by concept of Unity (and perhaps GNOME 3), there is no way possible to do that.05:19
TakyojiI was also at some point going to write a panel applet that would also show realtime stats of my web servers as well, for the sheer curiosity and sake of monitoring05:19
Takyojibut again, those possibilities are thrown out the window05:20
Takyojiand currently Linux Mint is the top suggested OS for others (as I would also do myself)05:22
FloatingGoati still use 11.0407:16
