Shirakawasunahi! I'm using the 'thunderbird-stable' ppa and would like to get the mail indicator working with thunderbird (I'm using the ppa so as to use the lightning package). So far I haven't been able to get it to work with any version of thunderbird - 5,6, or 7. I have tried having the 'thunderbird-indicator' ppa added and installed xul-ext-indicator, but it can only show the 'launch thunderbird' option and provides no notifications.15:01
ShirakawasunaI also have an extension installed that's supposed to make it work with unity, installed via thunderbird's add-ons dialog, which doesn't seem to do anything.15:01
ShirakawasunaAny ideas? I came along the idea that I might need libnotify5, which is in oneiric. I'm new to ubuntu/debian-based systems in general and am not sure if there's an intelligent way to install just one oneiric package.15:02
Shirakawasunas/libnotify5/libunity515:02
charlie-tcaShirakawasuna: are you running Unity or Xubuntu?15:04
Shirakawasunaxubuntu15:04
Shirakawasuna(xfce+indicator applet)15:04
charlie-tcaTo the best of my knowledge, unity notifications won't work in Xubuntu15:05
charlie-tcaUnless you add all the stuff from Gnome to make them work15:05
charlie-tcaIt's possible being a PPA, notifications haven't been enabled yet15:05
Shirakawasunathat's a good point. I don't use pidgin or ubuntu one, so I don't know whether the notifications work at all (the indicator subapplet things work great, though, including network/dropbox notifications)15:08
ShirakawasunaI suppose I could just wait 2 weeks. I assume oneiric will have this working.15:08
charlie-tcaIt should, yes. Firefox and Thunderbird both just released, so we should have it all working by Oneiric final release.15:10
Shirakawasunanifty!15:12
ShirakawasunaAh cool, you're on the QA+testing team. Thank you for your hard work!15:13

csenger41i'd need help with moving windows buttons in xubuntu15:50
charlie-tcayou don't like them on the right?15:53
csenger41i was able to move most of them to the left15:53
csenger41but in chromium they are still on the right in compact mode15:54
charlie-tcachromium does what it wants to. We can't fix that.15:54
charlie-tcahowever, to move the buttons in Xubuntu:15:54
charlie-tcamenu -> Settings -> Settings Manager -> Window Manager15:54
charlie-tcaOn the style tab, you can add/remove/move all the windows buttons15:55
charlie-tcaThey are under "Button Layout"15:55
csenger41i did it already15:56
charlie-tcaIf chromium won't let them move, you will need to contact the developers of that15:56
csenger41ok15:56
charlie-tcathat == chromium15:56
csenger41u know chromium?15:56
charlie-tcaI use firefox15:57

csenger41i wanna launch terminal with ctrl+alt+T like in ubuntu15:58
charlie-tcamenu -> Settings -> Settings Manager -> Keyboard16:05
csenger41ohh great thx :)16:06
charlie-tcaApplications Shortcuts tab, when you click add, enter the action, then okay, then hit the keys you want assigned.16:06
charlie-tcaThere is no prompt for the keys that you recognize16:06
csenger41great, all done :)16:07

Sysitaza: try arandr or grandr if you're not usinf propietary driver18:16
Sysiusing*18:17
tazaIntel driver, so oughta work18:17
tazaxrandr oughta do fine, I'm comfy with command line18:19
taza... better be, with doing this exotic stuff18:20
tazaI'm using the guts from a 1st gen eee18:20
focaltSysi, i'm sorry but I guess those instructions doesn't applyme18:23
charlie-tcafocalt: Since 9.10 is EOL (End of Life) for support, you would be better off to do a fresh install if you can18:25
Picifocalt: Take a look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EOLUpgrades18:26
charlie-tcaPici: Thanks. That's the page I was trying to think of.18:27
tazaArrgh, yeah, either I fail at xrandr or it doesn't do adding a virtual resolution too well18:36
tazaxrandr --output output --panning resolution18:38
tazaFind it on googling the very next thing18:38
deutscherHello all. I'm coming from Gnome been using ubuntu for about 4 years now and I really like the class desktop look and feel and ubuntu and gnome have basically killed that. xubuntu is working okay for now. of course i have to get used to some things. was wondering though. I've installed Arandr and set up my screen position the way I like, but how do I set it so it does it on boot?19:40
deutscheralright guess i'll keep searching google. have a wonderful day19:46
gnomiexubuntu saved my day! :D20:10
genii-aroundCool!20:12
Unit193Awesome! How did it do that?20:12
gnomieoneiric beta was a disaster on this low end 'puter.. so, coming from that frustration named unity, xubuntu made my day. installed flawless and it seems very stable. not only that but the terminal looks awezum! o.020:15
gnomielaucher panel on autohide AT the Bottom gets a +1 from me too20:16
gnomieunity2d was my test choice but it got annoying real quick20:18
charlie-tcaI moved my launcher panel to the right side of the screen. Every opens starting at the left, and the wide screen means it is narrow from top to bottom.20:21
charlie-tcas/Every/Everything20:21
charlie-tcaSince I don't really like the hide feature, having it on the right means it is always there20:22
gnomiei prefer autohide .. laucher panels are just a fuzzy fallacy20:23
* gnomie checks launcher panel when bored20:27
gnomiealt-f2 works! yay20:27
