On the server there is one tracker which is reporting Error: Invalid port. Any ideas what causes this please? Deluge 1.3.3 (current ports set are 55000-64000)00:20
daftykinsallnickstaken: you're not using UPnP ?00:46

SuprEngrhmm... trying to get Ubuntu to recognise a disk [any disk] disk in USB floppy drive [USB floppy drive recognised ok]15:04
directhexSuprEngr, have you  mounted the floppy?15:04
directhex/dev/fd0 at a guess15:05
SuprEngrI try - oh how I have tried! all it will let me do is format the floppy drive itself [even if no disk in it] - cries15:06
SuprEngr...tried 32 different floppy drives - both oh under *that  other* OS15:07
SuprEngroops please eread 2 for 3215:07

SuprEngrand p.s. -  "mount: can't find /dev/fd0 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab" [or any other dev/xxx I've tried]15:16
directhexyou can't just do "mount /dev/foo" if there's no fstab entry for /dev/foo. you need to do "mount /dev/fd0 /media/floppy15:20
duvelhedzSuprEngr: Sudo blkid to list what the drive is coming up as, then mount /dev/xxx /media/xxx as directhex says15:27
SuprEngrduvelhedz, sorry for late reply [cooking as well as begging]...15:38
SuprEngr[doing it ow]15:38
SuprEngrdirecthex, soz - meant to say fd0 - problem lies between keyboard and pooter - [numb finger probs atm]15:40
SuprEngr[[doing it now]15:40
duvelhedz SuprEngr: how did you get on15:43
SuprEngrduvelhedz,   /dev/sdg: SEC_TYPE="msdos" UUID="5C51-1AE0" TYPE="vfat" [did I forget to mention that what I was hoping to do was put a copy of msdos - then win for workgroups - into virtual;box ;)15:48
SuprEngrno mount -no go15:48
SuprEngr[damn history -all I wanted was to preserve an old OS15:49
duvelhedzSudo mkdir /media/floppy && Sudo mount /dev/sdg -t vfat /media/floppy15:50
duvelhedzWithout the capitals though15:50
SuprEngrduvelhedz, love the way yours keeps coming up as Sdo - thanks, had just seen that15:51
SuprEngr*Sudo15:52
SuprEngrwow -that's an improvement - mount: block device /dev/sdg is write-protected, mounting read-only  ... that'll do for me!!15:55
SuprEngrduvelhedz, cheers a mil... & then a mil more15:55
duvelhedzNo worries. You got sorted right?15:56
SuprEngrduvelhedz, well nautilus has just read disk contents 100% ok - now it's down to sorting out vbox15:58
duvelhedzHappy days!15:58
SuprEngrweeeeeeeeee!15:58
* SuprEngr copies and saves log for future reference ;D15:59
duvelhedzTo back up and avoid using the floppy use "dd if=/dev/sdg of=~/filename.dd" then sudo mount ~/filename.dd -t vfat /media/floppy when you need to use it. Big difference in the speed of a floppy v a hard drive16:06

Azelphurwoo, shortened my water cooling pipe and put 2x1TB hdds in my pc...didn't break anything :D18:35
Azelphurnow to install 11.10 \o/18:35
Azelphurwell, actually that sata hdd dock doesn't seem to be working with my old HDD :(18:36
ali1234the bug where the monitor turns off instantly if you set it to "never" is still around too18:37
Azelphurhaha18:37
AzelphurHmm, Installed 11.10 and it seems to just hang at "Checking battery state... [ OK ]"19:08
gordAzelphur, sudo start gdm19:11

Azelphurah, I see why it's dead19:14
Azelphurnone of the open drivers support my gpu at all :D19:14
Azelphuris there a command line way to install the nvidia drivers?19:15
Azelphurhmm actually, I wonder how that's possible baring in mind the livecd worked :S19:15
Azelphurin my Xorg.0.log I can see it saying "The NVIDIA GPU at PCI:3:0:0 is not suuported by the 173.14.30 NVIDIA driver"19:15
Azelphurwhys it installed a ancient version of a proprietary driver on a fresh install?19:16
Azelphuryea...it really has installed nvidia proprietary 173 ootb19:20
Azelphurwtf is up with that?19:20
ali1234oneiric?19:21
Azelphuryea19:21
ali1234it offered me a choice of two different nvidia drivers19:21
ali1234i just went with the default19:21
Azelphurit didn't here, it just went ahead and installed 173 which obviously don't work with my gtx 57019:22
ali1234"obviously"19:22
Azelphur173 is like 134132423 years old :p19:23
AzelphurI think it happened because I ticked the install proprietary drivers / updates in the installer19:23
AzelphurI'mma test that and file a bug, assuming I'm right :)19:24
ali1234there is no such button19:24
ali1234"download updates" only downloads updates19:24
ali1234and the other one only installs fluendo afaik19:24
ali1234did you install the nvidia driver while using the livecd?19:25
ali1234because if you do that it is transfered to the installed system as well19:25
ali1234which can turn out bad if you later use the same liveusb to install on a machine without nvidia19:25
popeynope19:25
ali1234nope?19:25
popeythe other button installs proprietary nvidia too19:26
ali1234oh, ok19:26
popeysurprised me when I first did it19:26
jpdstechnology.in.2011++19:26
popeydialling.up.the.non-free.to.1119:26
Azelphurali1234, no I didn't19:26
ali1234does it also install flash?19:26
popeyi dont recall19:26
ali1234because installing flash in oneiric is pretty difficult19:27
popeyi looked at the source for ubiquity, I'm not entirely clear what the current situation is19:27
Azelphurso yea, that's probably a bug then19:27
ali1234you have a 50/50 chance of it working19:27
Azelphurit's picked the wrong version of the driver for my GTX 570 :)19:27
jpdsAzelphur: jocket-text is what you seek.19:27
popeythere's ubuntu-restricted-extras and ubuntu-restricted-addons19:27

Azelphurjpds, awesome19:27
ali1234https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-lens-applications/+bug/86374519:27
lubotu3Ubuntu bug 863745 in unity-lens-applications (Ubuntu) "Searching for "flash" in the "applications for download" section of the dash gives confusing results." [Undecided,New]19:27
popeyRecommends: gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly, flashplugin-installer, gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg, icedtea6-plugin, gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp319:28
popeythats what -addons installs19:28
ali1234but not nvidia?19:28
popeyDepends: ubuntu-restricted-addons19:28
popeyRecommends: ttf-mscorefonts-installer, unrar, gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse, libavcodec-extra-5319:28
popeyno, thats separate logic19:28
popey^^^ thats -extras19:28
ali1234so does that mean it installs flash?19:29
popeyso extras is addons plus fonts, unrar, more codecs19:29
popeyno19:29
popeyoh, yes19:29
popeyflashplugin-installer is flash of course19:29
ali1234see the bug i just posted19:29
* popey clicks19:29
ali1234there's two packages for flash, one on 32 bit one on 64 bit19:29
ali1234but you are able to install either one on either arch19:29
ali1234and if you pick the wrong one... it doesn't work19:29
Azelphuryup, straight up after using jockey to install the current nvidia driver19:29
Azelphuryay for breaking things, I'll file a bug later today \o/19:30
Azelphurlike the new login screen though, quite fancy looking19:30
popeybah, my unity just crapped out19:30
Azelphurand I like the grid switcher on the new unity19:30
AlanBell19:30
AlanBelloops19:31
Azelphuris post-release updates newer than version current?19:32
ali1234no idea19:32
Azelphurindeed, it's confusing, post release updates would indicate that you get updates after the release, but version current would indicate the current verseion...the two terms seem to mean the same thing :S19:32
popeyok, so one is flashplugin-installer, the other is adobe-flashplugin19:32
ali1234ok?19:33
ali1234so the first one presumably is flashplugin-installer19:33
popeyyes19:33
ali1234and installing it would work on 32 or 64 bit19:33
ali1234with the only side effect being unneccessary nspluginwrapper installation?19:33
ali1234or would it actually mess up if installed on 32 bit?19:34
popeynot sure, i dont have any 32-bit boxen to test19:34
ali1234i do19:34
ali1234anyway if that is the case, the second one should never show up19:35
AlanBelladobe-flashplugin is from the partner repo isn't it19:36
ali1234the two packages actually conflict19:36
ali1234if you click one, the other one is makred for removal19:36
popeythats a mess19:38
ali1234seems to work19:38
ali1234that is, they both work on 32 bit19:39
ali1234only one works on 64 bit19:39
Azelphurhaha, 11.10 is pulling a KDE on multi X screen support19:43
Azelphur"None at all, go away"19:43
AzelphurGnome 2 and 3 are both broken in similar ways as the previous release19:56
Azelphurbut adding some extra brokenness to the equation, apparently I can't have a wallpaper any more.19:57
popeyI didnt think we shipped gnome 2 in 11.1019:57
ali1234lololololol19:57
ali1234there's no gnome 219:57
Azelphurpopey, it's a package you can install, gnome-fallback19:57
popeyno, it isnt19:57
popeythats gnome-3 fallback19:57
Azelphuroh, that explains why it doesn't work then \o/19:57
popeyto look a bit like gnome 219:57
popeybut it isnt gnome 219:57
Azelphurhehe19:58
ali1234gnome-shell and gnome-fallback are both gnome 319:58
popeyas is unity ;)19:58
AzelphurI'm assuming it's not working anyway, I seem to have pretty much no buttons19:58
popeyi havent tried gnome-fallback19:58
Azelphurat the top of my screen I have the menu bar from nautilus19:58
Azelphurand nothing else19:58
Azelphurin both gnome 3 and gnome-fallback19:58
ali1234that means 3d acceleration isn't working and *whatever* failed to load because it needs it19:58
ali1234but it didn't detect this19:58
ali1234because it detects based on graphics card19:58
Azelphurhmm, my 3d should be working19:59
ali1234so if you have a graphics card that should work but doesn't, you just gte nothing19:59
AzelphurI thought it was the same panel bug that was in gnome 2 where the panel crashes if you have multi X19:59
Azelphur(the 8-9 year old one)19:59
ali1234well it could be that too20:00
ali1234i dunno20:00
Azelphuryea my 3d accel works fine in unity20:00
Azelphurjust my second X screen is a white background with a "X" pointer20:00
Azelphur:(20:00
ali1234bug report it20:01
ali1234bug report all these things20:01
AzelphurI will do, I just don't intend on holding my breath for multi X support20:01
Azelphurhad exactly the same issue with KDE and they basically told me to go away20:01
ali1234well20:02
ali1234the thing about kde20:02
ali1234they won't do anything unless you kick up a huge fuss20:02
Azelphurhaha20:02
ali1234you just have to know what buttons to press20:02
Azelphur:p20:02
Azelphurstill, temp workarounds first so I can get my system online...hmm20:02
* Azelphur ponders20:03
ali1234KDE sucks anyway20:04
Azelphurindeed :p20:04
AzelphurI know, I'll go bug ubuntu-x for some ideas20:04
* dutchie wonders how far AlanBell and ali1234 got with the ubuntu countdown code20:05
ali1234we figured it out20:06
dutchieoh?20:06
AlanBellall the way :)20:06
gordwhat is that thing about?20:06
popey:D20:06
AlanBellhttp://www.thisisthecountdown.com/20:07
AlanBellit isn't counting down to the release20:07
popeythey've added attribution!20:08
popeythat wasn't there before20:08
jacobwwow20:08
AlanBellthey have :)20:08
popey"Created by the Ubuntu-Adverts team."20:08
ali1234popey: they did that yesterday20:08
popeyahh20:08
ali1234well i don't understand why they are promoting it on twitter if it's really not ready20:08
ali1234but i'm stumped for what to do next20:08
AlanBellsomething about friends20:10
ali1234where is that quote from?20:10
ali1234the one about squares?20:10
popeyi believe the "game" starts when the countdown finishes20:10
popeyits a teaser20:10
ali1234well that's silly20:10
Azelphur<I told you so> btw been saying since 8.04 that multi X screen support was getting worse and would eventually be non existent :p</I told you so>20:15
ali1234nobody ever disagreed20:15
ali1234X is dead anyway20:16
ali1234switch to wayland20:16
AlanBelldoes wayland have a good multi-screen story baked in from the start?20:16
Azelphur^ this20:16
ali1234i doubt it20:16
Azelphurso what good would switching to wayland do me o.O20:16
ali1234none at all20:16
Azelphurfun20:16
ali1234it probably won't even work with nvidia driver for like 10 years anyway20:17
ali1234so you'll have to use nouceau20:17
ali1234so forget about gaming on that20:17
Azelphur\o/20:17
ali1234i turned on dual mead with nouveau and it crashed within 5 minutes20:17
ali1234i wasn't even doing anything20:17
Azelphurlol20:17
AzelphurI dunno quite why nautilus has stopped drawing the wallpaper on my second screen20:18
Azelphurit always used to work20:18
ali1234the real problem with X is 90% of the code is unused and nobody wants/dares to touch it20:18
AzelphurI know, I can turn nautilus off and get compiz to draw my wallpaper20:20
Azelphuramazingly compiz is actually the best wm for multi X support atm haha20:20
ali1234compiz is also an architectural nightmare20:20
Azelphurbut it works well, and they are ontop of X screen bugs :)20:20
ali1234it crashes if i change the monitor settings20:21
Azelphur*shrug* it crashes sometimes20:22
Azelphurbut nvidia driver is about as stable as a plate of jelly anyway20:22
Azelphurali1234, they are quite good when it comes to fixing crashes too20:23
Azelphurif you file bugs with crash dumps they are usually fixed20:23
ali1234well i filed one today20:25
ali1234but it is private20:25
Azelphurali1234, looks like everything gnome has switched to hard coded $DISPLAY20:28
AzelphurI think that's why :/20:28
Azelphurif I open nautilus on :0.1 it opens on :020:28
Azelphurso yep, this is officially unusable now20:29
Azelphur:(20:29
AzelphurI think XFCE might be jumping in to save the day o.O20:48
Azelphurwent wandering around asking in a few channels, a guy has the exact same setup and says XFCE wins at it20:48
Azelphurinstalled XFCE, and so far it seems to be...working :o20:48
Azelphurali1234, XFCE kicks ass for this :o20:50
AzelphurIt actually has support...proper support20:50
Azelphurindividual screen settings!20:51
ali1234lolno20:51
ali1234i tried it20:51
Azelphuryes :o20:51
ali1234didn't work at all20:51
AzelphurI'm using it right now, working at all it is.20:51
gordonjcpcomedy21:57
gordonjcpI've had about three goes at installing the most recent 11.10 daily21:57
gordonjcpevery time it fails, because the computer goes to sleep before the install has completed21:57
ali1234lol21:58
AlanBelloops21:58
AlanBelloneiric computers dreamily drifting off to sleep22:00
gordonjcpheh22:00
gordonjcpright, I'm quite keen to give Ubuntu a shot, particularly since I've been asked to package some stuff I've written for it22:06
mgdmDo oneiric computers dream of electric ocelots?22:06
ali1234AlanBell: that is quite an odd coincidence22:06
gordonjcpwhich is the best one?22:06
ali123410.0422:07
mgdmgordonjcp: I imagine you'll get on better with the LXDE or similar versions22:07
AlanBell12.0422:07
mgdmgordonjcp: I'm probably switching to one of them soonish22:07
gordonjcpali1234: 10.04 isn't much good, since I'd have to replace every single package on the system22:07
gordonjcpbasically I find gnome-shell totally unusable and I don't like compizzy desktops22:08
ali1234why?22:08
gordonjcpali1234: because they're obsolete22:08
ali1234forget ubuntu, install arch instead22:09
gordonjcpali1234: that's what I normally use22:09
AlanBellpackage for debian22:09
gordonjcpdebian is worse22:09
ali1234tell your users ubuntu is too much trouble, and they should switch to arch too22:10
hamitron:|22:10
gordonjcpali1234: that's... really helpful, thanks22:10
ali1234i try to please22:11
AlanBellgordonjcp: is it stuff that you want in the main archives, or in the software centre for ubuntu?22:11
ali1234btw canonical has a service where they package your app for you22:11
ali1234but only if you will sell it in the app store22:11
ali1234afaik22:11
gordonjcpAlanBell: I don't know22:11
gordonjcpwhat's the software centre?22:11
ali1234the ubuntu app store22:12
AlanBellapp store, that you can sell stuff in, as well as get stuff from the archives, so I didn't phrase that very well22:12
gordonjcpif I install with apt-get in 10.04, stuff like osm-gps-map is about two years old22:12
AlanBellit would be, yes22:13
gordonjcpactually osm-gps-map is closer to four years old22:13
AlanBell"stable" means "doesn't change"22:13
AlanBell!info osm-gps-maps22:13
AlanBell!info osm-gps-map22:13
lubotu3Package osm-gps-maps does not exist in natty22:13
lubotu3Package osm-gps-map does not exist in natty22:13
gordonjcpmight not have hyphens in it22:14
Laneyhttps://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/osm-gps-map22:14
AlanBell!info python-osmgpsmap22:14
lubotu3python-osmgpsmap (source: osm-gps-map): GTK+ library to embed OpenStreetMap maps - Python bindings. In component universe, is optional. Version 0.7.2-1ubuntu3 (natty), package size 37 kB, installed size 196 kB22:14
gordonjcpyeah, that's well out of date22:15
AlanBellhttp://nzjrs.github.com/osm-gps-map/ so 0.7.3 is out22:17
Laneydebian has it.22:18
AlanBellI think it would need a merge not a sync as it has ubuntu3 in the version number (so we have messed with it)22:24
gordonjcphm, is there a way to see what's been messed with?22:25
Laneypatches.ubuntu.com22:27
gordonjcpright, attempt four at installing22:29
AlanBellLaney: so where on patches.ubuntu.com would it be?22:30
Laneyhttp://patches.ubuntu.com/o/osm-gps-map/osm-gps-map_0.7.2-1ubuntu3.patch22:31
AlanBellah, not by package name22:31
Laneysource package name22:31
AlanBellright, ok22:32
Laneypretty sure it is syncable now though22:32
gordonjcpyeah, it just looks like it messes with the debian/ directory in some way22:32
ali1234apt-get source, then look in debian/patches22:32
ali1234gordonjcp: all debian specific changes have to go in debian/22:32
ali1234everything outside that is supposed to be untouched22:33
Laneysometimes.22:33
ali1234in the source package that is22:33
ali1234the patches are applied to the source22:33
ali1234most packages use quilt for that22:33
gordonjcpnope, it's fallen over again22:42
gordonjcpit sits at "Configuring target system" for about 20 minutes, then shuts down22:43
gordonjcpoh well, so much for that then22:46
dogmatic69_could anyone point me in the direction of allowing pings on my server?22:49
dogmatic69_if i ping now nothing happens22:49
bigcalmOpen the port for imcp22:49
dogmatic69_any specific one?22:50
ali1234srsly?22:50
ali1234icmp operates below the level of ports22:50
dogmatic69_?22:51
dogmatic69_never heard of icmp before :/22:51
ali1234you know when you get connection refused22:52
ali1234that implies that communication is done before connecting to a port, right?22:52
ali1234it has to send a message "may i connect to port X?"22:52
ali1234those messages are done on icmp22:52
dogmatic69_ah ok22:53
dogmatic69_but its still some port22:53
ali1234no22:53
dogmatic69_:O22:53
kirrusdogmatic69_: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Control_Message_Protocol22:53
* dogmatic69_ is on there22:53
kirrus:)22:54
dogmatic69_so ive added return echo to aws on icpm firewall rules22:55
dogmatic69_security thing22:55
dogmatic69_is there anything server specific to do?22:55
ali1234doubt it22:56
dogmatic69_7 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 6031ms22:57
dogmatic69_:/22:57
dogmatic69_pinging the wrong one :D22:58
dogmatic69_all fixed now, thanks22:59
gordonjcpthis is just weird, the install media says it's okay when you run the self-test thing, and it seems to work when I boot off it, but the installer just doesn't want to play23:02
ali1234try the alternate installer23:02
gordi would add way more people who add me to google plus if they had any information about who they are in their profile..23:14
gordonjcpali1234: I'll wait until 11.10 comes out, I don't see an installer for the dailies23:19
ali1234dont use the dailies23:19
gordonjcpali1234: no point in getting 11.04 when it's about to be replaced23:19
gordonjcpali1234: in which case, I'll leave it until 11.10 comes out23:21
gordonjcpali1234: I already tried 11.04, it's too hard to use23:21
ali1234compared to what?23:21
gordonjcpali1234: gnome, xfce, icewm, basically any sane desktop ;-)23:22
hamitrongnome is sane?23:23
hamitron:|23:23
gordonjcphamitron: gnome 2 was23:23
gordonjcpgnome 3 is just as bad as unity23:23
hamitronI prefered gnome 1 tbh23:24
Laneyhahaha23:24
ali1234lol23:24
ali1234gnome 123:24
ali1234try xfce then23:24
gordonjcpa desktop PC is not a single-task device, and I don't know why both unity and gnome-shell are trying to push the idea that it is23:24
hamitronxfce is turning fat too23:24
ali1234because the desktop pc is only really suitable for professionals23:24
gordonjcpI don't get the idea of having a massive great bar down the left side of the screen, taking up a ridiculous amount of screen real estate23:25
hamitronLXDE <323:25
ali1234that's a weak argument23:25
gordonjcpand then having it disappear and reappear if it feels like it23:25
hamitronUnity will suck on a non-widescreen then?23:25
ali1234they all have bars along the screen23:25
gordonjcphamitron: yes23:25
hamitron:/23:25
ali1234hamitron: can you even buy none widescreens?23:25
gordonjcpI can see how it would work well on widescreen23:25
gordonjcpali1234: most laptops23:25
ali1234no23:25
hamitronali1234, who said I spent money? ;/23:26
gordonjcpmost "proper" LCD monitors, ie. ones not derived from cheap TV LCDs23:26
ali1234lol no23:26
ali1234pro grade monitors are widescreen now23:26
hamitronif I was to buy one, I would get widescreen tbh23:26
hamitronnothing decent and new in std ratio23:27
gordonjcpali1234: so unity is only suitable for running on the very newest hardware?23:27
hamitronubuntu is for the latest hardware, yes23:27
hamitron;)23:27
ali1234if you consider anything under 5 years old "the very newest hardware" then yes23:27
ali1234if you want to attack ubuntu on it's requirements, then the memory usage is the real problem23:28
ali12342GB isn't enough23:28
hamitronbut rather than complaining about things, I've just dropped ubuntu from my problem machines.... then use ubuntu with an open mind on new spec machines23:28
hamitron9-10 months and I will give it a go23:29
hamitron:)23:29
ali1234no one is making you use ubuntu23:29
hamitronexactly23:29
hamitronchoice <323:29
ali1234it's not like you can buy a computer and it is locked to only run ubuntu23:29
gordonjcpwell anyway23:29
hamitrondig dig win8? ;)23:29
gordonjcpali1234: it's got nothing to do with the requirements, and more to do with frankly daft design decisions23:30
ali1234i agree23:30
gordonjcpI see that 11.10 still has that thing where it puts the menu bar right at the top of the screen23:30
ali1234a lot of what is in unity and zeitgeist and the software centre is totally awful23:30
gordonjcpwhoever thought that one up needs a hefty belt with the clue stick23:30
ali1234you mean the same place where it was in gnome 2?23:31
gordonjcpali1234: uuhhhhhh23:31
gordonjcpno, I've only ever seen that in unity and Mac OS23:31
ali1234oh you mean global menus23:31
ali1234yeah that REALLY sucks23:31
ali1234it can be disabled though23:32
gordonjcpthe only reason for that on Mac OS was the completely brain-damaged way that it handled multiprogramming in like System 623:32
gordonjcpthere's no excuse for it these days23:32
ali1234i can't use mac os because of it23:32
ali1234well that and the dock23:32
hamitronand the price? ;/23:33
ali1234no, i have a mac in the cupboard23:33
ali1234don't use it23:33
hamitronoh :)23:33
gordonjcpthe dock is a stupid idea too23:33
ali1234operating system is garbage :(23:33
gordonjcpturning it on its side and sticking it down the left side of the screen doesn't help23:33
ali1234yeah23:33
gordonjcpat least in 11.10 if you mouseover the boxes you get a tooltip telling you what it is23:34
gordonjcpin 11.04 there's no way to tell what each of the boxes is23:34
ali1234you get that in 11.04 too23:34
ali1234but sometimes it stops working due to a bug23:34
gordonjcpit didn't when I tried it23:34
ali1234but the trick with the dock is to remove all the junk that is in it by default23:34
ali1234i only have firefox, nautilus, synaptic, terminal23:34
gordonjcpit's still hard to tell applications apart23:35
gordonjcpwell, it is if you can't tell icons apart, which I can't23:35
gordonjcpcan you install ubuntu without all the stuff like staroffice?23:36
ali1234with the alternate CD you can23:36
hamitronor mini.iso23:37
hamitronalt is better for non-ubuntu nutts23:38
hamitron;)23:38
shaunoI've only got one machine still running ubuntu.  and that's not likely to survive the next LTS :/23:50
AzelphurI'm nearly settled in XFCE now, This quite possibly could be the end of my multi monitor rants :o23:54
AzelphurIt like...actually works and has multi monitor support...and doesn't just fall over and die23:54
