urlin2uboboboboo, you been to users and added yourself to vbox?16:44
boboboboowhen they say you need to add vbox user to vboxusers group, does that mean my user or a new user call vbox?16:44
bobobobooI added myself, yes and rebooted16:44
boboboboostill no worky16:44
urlin2uboboboboo, go to users find vbox and you will see your user name in a box click t.16:44
urlin2uboboboboo, then you have to to use the settings-usb to have the usb seen.16:45

urlin2uit doesn't just automaticaly work yopu have to so to speak register the usb with virtual box in the settings, like you would a shred file between the host and guest.16:47

PraxiI have ubuntu server 10.x running, been around a while. its currently set to DHCP, and any time the server reboots, I have to go run dhclient on it for it to get its IP. What do I need to do to make sure it gets its IP on its own without me messing with it?22:02
seidosPraxi: i'm not entirely sure, but a script in /etc/init.d or /etc/rc* should do it22:05
seidosthere may be a more elegant solution that someone else may be aware of, however22:05
Praxithanks seidos why doesn't it do it on its own?  seems really odd22:05
PraxiI got 2 servers that behave this way22:05
seidosi can only speculate Praxi22:06
Praxiyour speculation is probably better than mine :)22:07
seidosperhaps dhcp isn't a common configuration for a server22:07
Praxicould be I suppose22:07
seidosis it wireless or wired ethernet?22:07
Praxiwired22:10
Praxigot 2 servers that do it22:11
Praxiand both are ubuntu of course hehe22:11
seidosi'm not certain how dhclient is run in a typical ethernet configuration.  you may need something in /etc/network/interfaces22:12
seidosyou could also assign a static ip in that file22:13
Praxiahh figured it out, /etc/network/interfaces shows eth0.  Doing an ifconfig shows eth1.22:33
