[02:38] #ubuntu [02:38] Cool, another question... im working on homework for timecomplexity of algorithms. is there a channel where more programmer types hang? [02:40] homework is pretty much if detected a no no just a heads up, not sure where though I don't program. [02:40] really?!? that's unfortunate... [02:41] most wont help with home work so you have to be creative. :) [02:41] ill help anyone with their homework. I understand not giving someone answers but going over the concept is important... [02:41] Im a senior at the 300~400 level... help all the time... [02:42] Aa lot more people respond to questions rather than "hello" many times. And please watch the language [02:42] never know though I just wouldn't mention though, tutoring is another matter face to face this is the net. [02:42] the free net still right!? [02:43] fullmetal, you misunderstand my explanation is prgmatic, not a judgement. [02:43] you telling me if i help someone with their homework ill get booted? [02:43] pragmatic [02:43] not taken as judgement... i appreciate the warning... just question the standard.. [02:43] no I'm just saying I have yet to see somebody help there. [02:44] gotcha... [02:44] Still believe the best way to learn is to teach... [02:45] ok since unit193 has brought up the issue what language is VERBOTEN! [02:51] no response? [16:44] boboboboo, you been to users and added yourself to vbox? [16:44] when they say you need to add vbox user to vboxusers group, does that mean my user or a new user call vbox? [16:44] I added myself, yes and rebooted [16:44] still no worky [16:44] boboboboo, go to users find vbox and you will see your user name in a box click t. [16:45] boboboboo, then you have to to use the settings-usb to have the usb seen. [16:46] settings in virtual box on that machine [16:47] it doesn't just automaticaly work yopu have to so to speak register the usb with virtual box in the settings, like you would a shred file between the host and guest. [16:47] shred=shared [16:50] that fixed it, thanks urlin2u [16:54] cool === yofel_ is now known as yofel === Axlin_ is now known as Axlin === tuxforprez is now known as bobweaver === tuxforprez is now known as bobweaver [22:02] I have ubuntu server 10.x running, been around a while. its currently set to DHCP, and any time the server reboots, I have to go run dhclient on it for it to get its IP. What do I need to do to make sure it gets its IP on its own without me messing with it? [22:05] Praxi: i'm not entirely sure, but a script in /etc/init.d or /etc/rc* should do it [22:05] there may be a more elegant solution that someone else may be aware of, however [22:05] thanks seidos why doesn't it do it on its own? seems really odd [22:05] I got 2 servers that behave this way [22:06] i can only speculate Praxi [22:07] your speculation is probably better than mine :) [22:07] perhaps dhcp isn't a common configuration for a server [22:07] could be I suppose [22:07] is it wireless or wired ethernet? [22:10] wired [22:11] got 2 servers that do it [22:11] and both are ubuntu of course hehe [22:12] i'm not certain how dhclient is run in a typical ethernet configuration. you may need something in /etc/network/interfaces [22:13] you could also assign a static ip in that file [22:33] ahh figured it out, /etc/network/interfaces shows eth0. Doing an ifconfig shows eth1.
