[14:46] Good morning [14:46] morning :) === ChanServ changed the topic of #xubuntu-devel to: Xubuntu Development | Oneiric Ocelot Beta2 released | #xubuntu for support | Schedule: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OneiricReleaseSchedule | Wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Xubuntu | Xubuntu Community meeting 2011-10-23 at 22:00 UTC - Election for Project Lead | Testing Oneiric Ocelot Final images at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/ [16:42] at least the oneiric schedule has finally been updated to remove Release Candidate :) [16:46] so i installed the latest image on this machine [16:46] but its failing hard [16:47] i guess it has to do whit this machine in particular though [16:49] GridCube: hardware or vbox? [16:49] and which image? [16:49] hardware charlie-tca [16:50] last night one [16:50] 32bit alternate, 32bit desktop, 64bit alternate, 64bit desktop, all images? [16:50] oh yes, 32bit alternate manual partition [16:51] The only one we haven't tried lately, too [16:51] Maybe you ran out of drive space? [16:51] no [16:51] formated [16:51] GridCube: question? where do we get the tests to run daily for the new tracker? [16:52] I can try it after the one I am installing now. [16:52] i think its a hardware thing [16:52] because i reinstalled because this same thing was happening whit 11.04 [16:53] Yeah, that would be my guess too [16:53] charlie-tca: you mean the schedule ? [16:53] for the new tracker? [16:54] yes [16:54] you update it from the admin area [16:54] The one coming up blank this week [16:54] So, we add the tests for each day manually? [16:54] yes [16:54] * charlie-tca smacks head [16:54] I guess I knew that... [16:55] GridCube: my guess would be out-of-date video card on that machine [16:56] :( [16:56] so i will have to reinstall xp here? [16:56] :( [16:56] I had one here did that, though, and I had to update the bios for it to work [16:56] which ain't easy on an old computer without windows [16:57] I will not install windows, I would get rid of the computer first, but then, I got a few extra here, too. [16:58] :P [16:58] thats not an option [16:59] Yeah, sometimes the only option is Windows [17:55] charlie-tca: guess what, i installed gdm and the error stop [17:55] so, something in lightdm failing to work [17:56] but you said it did the same thing in 11.04, which uses gdm [17:56] yes i knoe [17:56] wich is weird [17:56] That's just weird, yup === casa_ is now known as GridCube1 [17:57] :/ [18:01] this is really weird [18:01] Oh, yeah, I forgot. I am not seeing any blueman or bluetooth crashes here [18:01] micahg_, madnick : [18:02] no crashes for blueman or bluetooth on my no bluetooth system [18:03] it crashed for me in this machine on the first boot, since then no more [18:04] seems to be a sporadic bug, maybe it is something in certain hardware causing it, since we don't see it in all hardware [18:10] charlie-tca, sorry to bother you, but i keep thinking about what you asked me today about the new tracker and i still do not understend your question XD [18:10] I did not see any tests required all week, and wanted to know why [18:11] Test meant for today are: [18:11] Oh! noes! no schedule was added for today! [18:11] all week [18:11] oh yeah [18:11] sorry about that, i schudeled the week you said we where gonna test and then stopped [18:11] starting tomorrow, we have the final images [18:11] :D you can add some [18:12] to see how its done [18:12] yeah, now that I realized that is what needs to happen [18:12] I will add some for next week [18:12] :) [18:13] i could change the > Oh! noes! no schedule was added for today! [18:13] for > do all tests! ask on the irc channels! [18:13] XD whit ! exclamation ! marks ! [18:14] heh [18:14] I think it is fine for now [18:14] after next week, we don't test again until about November 25 or so [18:15] so, maybe the topic here will say that testers are on a break :) [18:15] :D [18:17] bbl [18:43] so, for no apparent reason using gdm seems to have fixed all problems [19:32] heh [19:32] Hello, I'd like to report a fully succesful installation with the Xubuntu Oneiric daily build of yesterday. No problems whatsoever, during installation. [19:32] well, at least you got it fixed :) [19:32] Great [19:32] tomorrow, we start testing the final oneiric images [19:35] piet = Pjotr now. :P [19:36] a patch for the lightdm greeter bug (untranslatable three items) has been submitted by a member of the Dutch Ubuntu community (Timo): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/868613 [19:36] Ubuntu bug 868613 in lightdm (Ubuntu Oneiric) "lightdm-gtk-greeter in Xubuntu, has three untranslatable items" [Medium,Triaged] [19:37] Too late for 11.10, but in time for 12.04 [19:37] The bug has been marked as not possible in Oneiric, will happen for Precise [19:38] but of course, Dutch is not the only language needs to be translated for it? [19:38] So it is... But in Precise it'll be allright. :-) [19:39] I'll alert the other translators on the mailing list, when the three items have become translatable [19:40] Thanks [19:40] One other translation related issue: Firefox in Xubuntu Oneiric (install with daily build of yesterday, fully updated) has no Dutch spell dictionary on board. It should... [19:41] We can't actually install dictionaries for every language. Can the user install one in Dutch? [19:42] Yes, but it should come automatically, with the localization [19:43] I remember a similar issue in an earlier Ubuntu version. Regression? I'll test it in Ubuntu as well. [19:44] I don't know if Xubuntu/Ubuntu or Mozilla is responsible for it, actually [19:45] It should be part of the localized language packs. Anyway, I'll test it in Ubuntu as well. Possibly not a purely Xubuntu-related bug [19:46] I'll let you know [19:46] bye [20:17] bbl - got to do a bit of shopping
