[00:07] hi [00:07] hello [00:08] you lebanese? [00:11] does it matter ? [00:11] no not really [00:11] i wanted to ask a question [00:12] have you upgraded to 11.10? [00:12] why didn't you start with the question ? could've saved yourself lots of time [00:12] I don't use Ubuntu [00:12] sorry [00:12] og [00:12] oh* [00:12] so my answer is no... [00:12] well that sucks [00:12] are you looking to upgrade ? [00:13] i already upgraded [00:13] and ? [00:13] and i'm confused as hell [00:13] can't find anything :S [00:13] why ? what did they change this time ? [00:14] the simplest thing is [00:14] in earlier versions [00:14] whenever you inserted a DVD or a USB device [00:14] it wouldv'e shown up on the desktop [00:14] now ir doesn't [00:14] ok [00:14] it* [00:15] that's one thing [00:15] I'm downloading it, let's see [00:15] are they still using that unity thingy ? [00:15] yeah [00:15] so it means it won't work in vbox [00:16] and i'm afraid to download the new version of gnome [00:16] what new version of gnome ? you mean gnome 3 ? [00:16] did you give KDE a try ? [00:16] reviews about it say it's very close to unity [00:16] maybe i should [00:17] gnome-shell you mean ? [00:17] never used it before [00:17] yeah [00:17] reviews are incorrect [00:17] how can gnome-shell of the Gnome project which started before Unity be close to unity ? [00:17] it would probably be the other way around wouldn't it ? ;) [00:18] People who didn't like to use Unity in 11.04 could easily switch to Gnome, which is of course far more flexible and user-friendly than Unity. So why they decided to throw it all away and come out with this awful interface is beyond me. The first thing you'll notice when you open the activities menu is it's a horrible jerky mess. It takes about ten seconds to open the applications menu, not to mention there's no way to customise the (now only) panel on t [00:18] he desktop. Not only that, there's no minimise buttons on the window and no taskbar! You have to go into the activities menu and click on the other window in order to switch. How counter-intuitive, and to be honest I find it a step backwards in innovation. The "Gnome Classic" login option is not real gnome classic either - it's just a cheap imitation which doesn't work half as well. There's still only one panel available and it is slow and clunky. Oh, a [00:18] nd did I mention that you can't use Compiz with gnome 3? So now, the window management is slow and clunky. [00:18] I hate this abysmal abomination of a user interface, and to be honest, I'd rather use Windows Vista. Now I'm looking for how to downgrade to 11.04, as I wouldn't be able to bear using this on a daily basis. Good job, Canonical. [00:18] that's one review [00:18] simply because people are thinking Ubuntu moved to Gnome 3 [00:20] :/ [00:20] bye bye [00:20] and you're welcome
