[05:20] i really need help getting this done, it really pisses the ell outta me: i've downloaded ubuntu11.10 omap4 to use on PB, and the installer always resets and never completes... i use dd.... && sync as sudo [05:27] Lopi: you still around? === Amaranth_ is now known as Amaranth [12:05] has anyone had experience using update.zip in microSD on asus transformer? [17:13] Ubuntu's do-release-upgrade is behaving very unprofessinally when ran from VT1.. it calls "xset" every other while.. now it made a pattern exclusively from 'xset: unable to open display "" ' messages [17:14] (upgrading pandaboard's natty to oneiric.. may be still off-topic, though) [17:16] The messages also weird-up the "place where new line appears" next line starts at the horizontal position where the xset line ended [17:35] oh great.. I missed a "user action needed" thing that asks yes/no/details.. The message got scrolled away with the xset junk [20:16] I assume using an arm device with a arm distro/OS will still impact 3rd party apps that are available to x86 even if source is available, correct? [20:17] stuff like flash or dropbox [20:41] FernandoMiguel: if sources are available, it should be almost easy to port [20:42] there could be some problems on stuff with asm [20:42] phh: oh really? good to know [20:42] it's complicated to do softwares not arm compatible [20:42] i just can't see how you could do that without doing assembly [20:43] I'm in need of a new laptop. old one GPU died. considering trying to find an ARM powered device. but afaikt only ac100 is currently available === Quintasan_ is now known as Quintasan [20:48] lilstevie: ping [20:50] FernandoMiguel: there are some cortex A8 stuff [20:51] (efika mx or or hercules eCafe) [20:51] :\ [20:51] (i'd say ac100 is best value) [20:51] but nothing that would look like a normal laptop I guess [20:52] MMlosh: it's hard for an arm laptop to be has heavy as an x86 laptop indeed [20:52] I said "look like" [20:52] weight is not part of looks.. but I agree :P [20:52] can you be a bit more specific ? [20:52] only things that are not ""laptop-like"" is that there is no HDD, and really little ram [20:52] arm laptop that is not freakishly small [20:53] ah, like 14" ? [20:53] maybe.. I am not sure how big that would be [20:53] k [20:53] well for me 10" is the right size ... :p but i get your point [20:54] I'm looking for bigger [20:54] I got a 15" right now.. 14" would be probably okay [20:54] I already had 13 and 12" [20:55] but if light weight, I'm sure I would be fine on 14 or 15" [20:56] not using extra FANs or rotatory HDD, cdrom drive, or powerful GPU, you can strip some extra chassis [20:56] well, for the thickness, just see ac100's [20:58] (and it already has a lot of free space available :p)
