scott-workhi, i'm project lead for ubuntu studio and i wanted to ask a few questions about how edubuntu implemented the user package selection during installation12:16
scott-workis this the correct place to do this?  or is there somewhere else or someone else i should speak to?12:16
scott-work_hello stgraber, are you familiar with the patched ubiquity for user selection components during edubuntu installation?18:48
stgraberscott-work_: user selection components? do you mean the fine grained package selection?18:51
scott-work_stgraber: aye!  that i do18:52
* scott-work_ apologizes, he doesn't always talk like a pirate or in third person18:52
stgraberso yeah, as the author of that code, I'm fairly familiar with it :)18:53
scott-work_i am the project lead for ubuntu studio and we are considering using the same methodology , would you be able to give tips for implementation?18:53
stgraberif you already have properly split meta packages and use Recommends for most of your packages (instead of Depends), copy/pasting our plugin into ubiquity and changing the few lines at the top of the code should do the trick18:56
stgraberIIRC there are a few lines in the code that basically set what's your main meta package and a blacklist18:57
stgraberyou'll want to update that part, most of the rest should just work18:57
scott-work_okay, that is good :)  shnatsel had already researched some of this and was aware of most of that18:58
scott-work_that's awesome18:58
scott-work_i was really worried that there would be the one hidden pitfall that would make this exceedingly difficult18:59
stgrabernope. I guess once you've tested it and started using it we should do something to have it in common somehow to avoid maintaing it twice19:01
stgraberalthough the code doesn't change much, I still have a few bugfixes to do for 12.04, mostly to do with the plugin crashing when some strings contain utf8...19:01
fosburgwhere do you get type1 fonts (like helvetica) that can be installed on linux os22:49
