Nivexit suddenly occurred to me that I did not attend a release party for Oneiric15:06
Nivexmaybe the first time in awhile15:06
akgranerNivex, I think everyone was crazy busy - I know I was - I didn't even attend or plan one this cycle15:08
Nivexguess we'll have to make up for it rather Precisely :)15:09
BugeyeDi had my own party. and yesterday i spent 3 hours fixing a botched upgrade. other than that one, so far so good.15:18
* holstein just got a new netbook15:20
holsteinim going to try stock 11.10 on it15:20
holsteini must admit i already have squinty suspicious eyes trained on unity ;)15:21
holsteinakgraner: i have an emergency as well15:36
holsteini have a new computer and no stickers :/15:37
akgranerholstein, well we will have to fix that15:38
akgraner:-)15:38
internalkernel1lol... lets get that fixed for sure...15:41
akgranertotally when I get back from UDS - let's have a geeky sticker exchange get together at firestorm15:42
internalkernel1holstein: let me know how stock unity runs... I may brave it once again after I get off this show...15:42
internalkernel1fyi - it seems to work well for the wifey... no complaints yet and she started on the beta...15:42
internalkernel1akgraner: fer sure!15:42
holsteinyou guys encrypt your home folders?15:55
holsteinon the netbooks?15:55
holsteini should i think, im just wondering if its worth the hassle15:55
internalkernel1holstein: yes, and its worth it - IMHO - it integrates seamlessly so there's no hassle15:59
holsteininternalkernel1: by the password?16:00
holsteinuserpass?16:00
holsteinwhat if i chage the passwd?16:00
holsteinis that a hassle?16:00
holsteini think the most odd part of unity is the hiding menu's16:03
akgranerinternalkernel1, yep - b/c I travel so much I don't want our lovely government ever reading my home directory16:03
holsteini mean, theres nothing up there, so why hide them?16:03
holsteinseems like its an effort to not completely clone the OSX experience16:04
holsteini know the argument that it looks cleaner and all that16:04
holsteinthe other argument that it 'save screen realestate' is just wrong16:05
holsteinthe space is there and empty when its hidden16:05
internalkernel1I usually select the option to encrypt home dir on install... and its full integrated - changing password doesn't matter16:06
holsteininternalkernel1: cool16:06
holsteinim going to go for it16:06
holstein:)16:06
holsteininternalkernel1: ill ping you first when i run into a problem ;)16:06
* holstein kidding...16:06
internalkernel1holstein: lol... its all good...16:40
BugeyeDholstein / internalkernel1 - the encrypted home folder overlay thing is neat, but i've been shunning it in favor of the -alt installer and its whole-disk encryption.18:04
BugeyeDnot that you care. :)18:04
BugeyeDi've had to replace unity with unity-2d on several of my older boxes (like the one the kids use)18:06
internalkernel1BugeyeD: yeah, I was using the whole disk encryption for awhile - but then I have to manually mount the drive in order to do a fsck on it... I like the ecryptfs because its one less hassle18:20

holsteinwell, i got a little frustrated trying to make XFCE do what gnome2 used to do21:21
holsteinwhen i stopped doing that, i feel like i can settle into XFCE for a bit21:22
BugeyeDinternalkernel1: whatis fsck?23:05
internalkernel1e2fsck -a23:05
internalkernel1file system check23:06
akgranerhey holstein do you think between you and internalkernel1 you all can email the mailing list and post to the forums and come up with 3 goals we can achieve this cycle23:21
akgraner2012 we are up for re-approval23:21
akgranerand we need to start getting all that worked out23:21
akgranerI think a lot of the stuff we've done helping get the LUG back in shape will count23:21
akgranerand by we I mean  you and holstein and we'll need to survey the rest of the team to find out what all they have been up to so we can get all that added to our re-approval wiki23:22
