[18:44] valorie: I have to backup my server :P [18:45] * bkerensa is getting epic traffic.... Slashdotted and Reddited (r/linux) [18:45] for which post? [18:45] ;) I'm anticipating someone will try and own my box [18:45] :P [18:45] http://benjaminkerensa.com/2011/10/23/uefi-headaches-begin-linux/ [18:46] Over 1k hits since 9am [19:14] great on the post [19:14] ugh on the content [19:14] perhaps Ubuntu Friendly program will be a help [19:14] * valorie crosses fingers [19:19] yeah [19:19] :D [19:21] bummer, I missed your party [19:21] I so wanted to catch that [19:23] valorie: We might be doing some Ubuntu/Debian hours [19:23] jointly [19:23] a Canonical guy asked if I was interested in helping out the local Debian UG [19:23] : [19:23] that is GREAT [19:23] we need to do more with Deb folks [20:53] bkerensa: I just tweeted your URL ... I hope it doesn't add to your misery ... but I doubt I have that many followers [21:07] * valorie will do that to add to bkerensa's misery -- in awhile [21:43] seattlegaucho: Oh I should be fine... My webserver sits behind the largest CDN in the world [21:43] ;) [21:43] I could handle SNL plugging me [21:49] OTH, that is really sad news ... I wonder if any Dell rep would understand what I'm talking about if I ask him [21:49] I think that's going to be the case with most customer service reps in general [21:51] heh [21:51] Im getting quite a bit of trolling from some people [21:51] who say I'm being anti-corporate for blaming UEFI for not working with Linux [21:51] oy [21:52] Because Red Hat and Canonical aren't corporate at all? [21:52] mind you my post hardly passed blame... It just demonstrated that UEFI is already causing problems and nothing more [21:52] :P [21:52] shannonlucas: Its some trolls who hate Ubuntu/Canonical [21:53] they hangout in #ORLUG and since they dislike ^ then they dislike anything I have to say and troll like its going out of style :P [21:54] sad, sad people [21:55] If people just used half the effort they spend detracting on creating or supporting... [21:56] Indeed [21:56] yes, one of these days we could work on changing trolls into productive team members [21:56] so much.... division among people in FOSS simply over what distro or DE they like most [21:56] its like the NFL almost [21:56] I wonder where my wizard hat, cape and wand are? [21:56] =/ [21:57] distro/DE aren't religion [21:57] they are tools [21:57] someone at the Mentor's Summit asked me to sell him on using KDE again [21:57] and was sort of puzzled that I wouldn't do that [21:57] I love it [21:58] wish everyone did, but the fact is -- some people make another choice, for their own reasons [21:58] Indeed [21:58] we're all on the same side: freedom [21:58] I will gladly give out any distro [21:58] me too [21:58] in fact I just asked MarkDude to send me some Fedora CD's [21:58] for that matter, those who choose Apple or MS are choosing the tools they like, as well [21:59] my husband and one son us MS [21:59] use [21:59] but they support freedom in other ways [21:59] my new laptop has Win7 on it for my fiancee to play games [21:59] I dont condemn it.... I encourage her to use Ubuntu for everything else though [21:59] :D [22:00] * bkerensa nevers uses it [22:00] I have Win 7 for playing Portal 2 :-p [22:00] I doubt my husband will ever change -- he likes photoshop too much [22:00] I'm totally OK with that [22:01] I'd have a hard time giving up Photoshop if my work depended on it. [22:02] Gimp is ok for me.... I like Photoshop but so far I have been able to switch fine.... I just miss some features [22:03] The one that's been the toughest for me is Lightroom. Darktable is looking good, but it isn't there yet. [22:04] I've been using mostly Bibble Pro on Ubuntu. It's not free, but it compares pretty well with Lightroom.
