[17:42] is the OS a dead ubuntu project now? [17:44] ssfdre38: ? [17:44] 'the OS'? [17:45] you mean ubuntustudio? [17:45] yea [17:45] http://ubuntustudio.org/downloads [17:45] here is where you can join the mailing lists http://ubuntustudio.org/support [17:45] if this channel is too slow try #opensourcemusicians [17:46] ssfdre38: ubuntustudio is as dead as you want it to be [17:46] for me, its pretty active [17:46] i had the 11.04 to see if it would do the do-upgrade-release and it went right to ubuntu's 11.10 upgrade [17:46] right [17:47] i did a test install last week [17:47] installed 11.04 and upgraded to 11.10 [17:47] worked OK for me.. i had to manually select the XFCE session at login [17:48] i did and it was a black screen [17:48] probably graphics card related [17:48] i usually get a normal buntu live CD and get that running [17:48] then, go from there as to upgrading or installing whatever version i want [17:49] nvidia? [17:49] can you get to TTY? [17:49] do you see a grub menu? [17:49] first easy thing would be to try the recovery console [17:52] yea i have nvidia [17:52] well, i could be wrong, but thats what i would assume the issue is [17:52] i would run the recovery console [17:53] i would also.. [17:53] well i have ubuntu 10.04 LTS on my tower for now [17:53] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia [17:53] ssfdre38: ? [17:53] you dont have a non-functioning 11.10 install then? [17:54] right now not on my towner [17:54] reinstalling the proprietary driver would likely have sorted it out [17:54] you can do that in the terminal [17:54] TTY [17:55] im running 10.04 on my production machine... [17:55] that is what i do first [17:55] ssfdre38: well, its all hypothetical at this point [17:55] if its wiped [17:55] so... next time :) [17:55] i would try a normal ubuntu LIVE cd before installing/upgrading next time
