psychx-When I was running Ubuntu 11.10, my keyboard commands (play, next, previous, etc) worked perfect with Banshee for example. Now on Lubuntu, they aren't working. Can someone help me?01:27
marazyou'll need to look at ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml01:43
marazdunno if there's a better way01:44
psychx-it says the specified directory is not valid02:08
br0therpsychx-: there are pretty detailed instructions for the volume up/down buttons in the lxde wiki faq at http://wiki.lxde.org/en/FAQ - that said it will be the same tip that maraz gave but with the gory details ofc02:30
br0therpsychx-: and ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml is indeed the correct location02:31
psychx-mike@mike-lubuntu:~$ ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml03:37
psychx-bash: /home/mike/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml: Permission denied03:37
psychx-mike@mike-lubuntu:~$ sudo ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml03:40
psychx-sudo: /home/mike/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml: command not found03:40
psychx-btw my volume buttons work great03:45
psychx-its pause/play next/previous that i need03:45

psychx-I am trying to setup my keyboard to work with Banshee correctly. I am being told to edit my ~/.config/openbox/lxde-rc.xml file; but all I have is a ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml file. Is that the same thing?21:45
jibustHi, I'm a new Lubuntu 11.10 user. I have it running on an old Dell 630m. At first it was incredibly fast but now its is extremely slow. I have it up to date, and recently it is slower than windows XP. The letters take time to appear while I type, when I open applications it takes at least 20 secs. Any help would be appreciated.21:56
jibustAnyone here who can help?22:06
wxlomg i'm gonna pull my hair out22:08
wxlcan someone look at my lubuntu-rc.xml? i keep getting an error on it that i cna't find22:08
theredbaron_jibust run top from a command line and see what is taking up the cpu cycles.  And I could look wxl, but I don't know if I could fix. Upload it somewhere.22:10
wxlgimme a sec theredbaron_22:10
theredbaron_O, and I would guess that it would be the same Psychx.22:12
jibust@theredbaron if I run top, chrome browser is the only process taking up any cpu, but if I close chrome, the computer is still slow22:12

theredbaron_try this wxl http://paste.ubuntu.com/22:13
theredbaron_Um, could be you have a process doing lots of read/writes jibust. Not sure how to check. Give me a sec.22:13
jibustok, thanks22:13
wxlapparently the first line of it was keeping it from going there because it's confusing it for php: "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>"22:14
wxlanywho theredbaron_ http://paste.ubuntu.com/744777/22:14
theredbaron_Can you paste the error?22:20
theredbaron_I am sure this isn't the "right" way jibust, but can you install htop. A ncurses top thing. Lets you sort process but all kindsa things.22:22
wxlgrr i guess i have to type it out22:22
theredbaron_then run it and sort by niceness. See if anything is overshadowing things.22:22
theredbaron_Ha, yeah, I hate that stuff wxl22:22
jibustok, let me give it a try22:22
wxlaw crap22:23
wxlOne or emore XML syntax errors were found while parsing the Openbox configuration files. See stdout for more information. The last error seen was in file "/home/wxl/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml" line 856, with message: Premature end of data in tag openbox_config line 422:24

theredbaron_Ha, well, hope I helped a little at least.23:08
theredbaron_yea. check out this pic. Do you want to have them removed from where I have circled? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/40/testbs.png/23:09
bekorare you talking to me?23:11

theredbaron_Do you have mtpaint intalled? It comes with lubuntu. If so, can you open it up, press file new, and click grab screenshot. Then circle what you are talking about. Cause I might have been way off. :( Then upload it to imageshack.us.23:14
bekorwhere is screen shot listed?23:16
theredbaron_when you press new, there is a pop up that asks what kinda new thing you want, and one of the dots you can pick is grab screenshot.23:16

theredbaron_in a web browser go to imageshack.us. Click browse and go to where you saved the screenshot. Then click upload now.23:20

bekortipicle thing just gives you conig options23:27
theredbaron_Well, then right click panel, go to panel settings. (Don't click the icon, just a random empty spot)23:29

bekori got an idea isn't their  a start up menue somewhere maybe i can make it only one their instead of three23:30
bekorthat did not do anything23:31
theredbaron_That depends on if it is starting up 3 different things, or if it it just has 3 different system tray sets, but good pint. Didn't think of that.23:31
theredbaron_Go to preferences desktop Session Settingss. That is the autostart thing.23:32
bekori have three spacers on the list is that normal23:32
=== robotman is now known as AlexAv
theredbaron_On desktop sessions?23:33
theredbaron_Cause if you are talking about the panel preferences then that is ok.23:33
bekoron ad or remove panel  items it says i have three spacers am i suppose to?23:35
theredbaron_Yeah, that is right. Just space between some of the panel items. keeps them separated a bit.23:36
bekori saw on start up menue their was only one network thingy i was hoping to see three than i could remove the other two23:37
theredbaron_Yeah, that would have been nice.23:37
bekornot sure what to do i wish their was some kind of replace apllication in the terminal or commands or something23:39
theredbaron_one sec, let me check something.23:39
theredbaron_Go to your home folder, press ctrl h, to unhide all folders. Go to .config/autostart. See if you have any multi starts there.23:42
theredbaron_If that doesn't work, I  am really out of ideas. You should post in ubuntuforums.org for help. Sorry. Never had this issue before.23:45
bekorthe only thing i have in their for some reason is docky23:46
theredbaron_Sorry. That is why I always do fresh install's. There are often weird little quirks that come over with upgrades.23:47
bekori see i have had issues also i will just live with it for now thaks23:48
bekorcome up with anything new email me at bekor@gmail.com23:48
theredbaron_Sorry. I wish I was of more help. Still, I would post on the forums. There might be someone who has seen it before and knows a fix.  And will do.23:48
