mynoThere is an Ubuntu LoCo in Iowa, where I live. With the closure of the ShipIt program, do these LoCos offer to ship media to users? My internet is too slow to download it within the intermittent service disconnections I get.02:34
mynoWhen visiting the like given in the topic, I am told I am not a member of any authorized teams. I assume that's because only team leaders are allowed to request CDs.02:42
mynoDoes anyone know where I can request an Ubuntu CD?03:00
mhall119myno: your LoCo team isn't on the list to get shipments of CDs, but someone in the team will likely be willing to burn you one03:05
mhall119if you want one of the official printed ones, you can buy one from the store: http://shop.canonical.com/index.php?cPath=1703:06
mynomhall119: Ah ok. That was my main concern (unofficial teams, according to some of the comments on the ShipIt closure blog post) didn't seem to be qualified. I'll contact one of the folks on the team. Thanks!03:06
mhall119myno: yeah, unfortunately because of limited resources, not all teams get free CDs03:07
mynomhall119: Understandable.03:07

mhall119paultag: ping14:23
mhall119paultag: I just wanted to say thanks for your work in the community, and your advice and friendship to me14:39
gsrlz67where do i tell ubuntu mistakes15:00
gsrlz67which side is it15:01
leoquantnigelb are you still into "classrooms"/classroom project?15:16
paultagmhall119: thanks, man :)16:40
paultagmhall119: I'll miss y'all.16:40
mhall119miss us?16:41
mhall119where are you going?16:41
mhall119paultag: ^^16:41
paultagmhall119: Well, I plan on phasing out my membership in teams (my bugsquad and -control  memebership expire this week), and when I leave a team, I'll be thinning out IRC channels as well16:42
paultagmhall119: but I'll be around. I'll be in Debian, anyway16:42
* mhall119 will stalk you16:42
czajkowskiindeed16:42
czajkowskilikewise16:42
paultagawww :)16:42
czajkowskipaultag: you are not getting away that easily from me! 16:42
paultagI'll still have my ubuntu membership, and I'll stay on planet.ubuntu16:43
czajkowskiwe have spoken about this :) 16:43
paultagyeah :)16:43
paultagbut it feels... good.16:43
mhall119going to debian can hardly be considered leaving the ubuntu community16:43
paultagI've even had time to finish an idea I started, which is rare16:43
paultagmhall119: I'll be contributing indirectly16:43
paultagmhall119: and that's why I feel OK maintaining my ubuntu membership16:44
mhall119it's like saying you're leaving construction because you're switching from roofing to laying concrete foundations ;)16:44
paultagmhall119: Yeah, I mean, yeah. It's just I can't imagine be as active with Ubuntu as I was for this last, oh, 4 years.16:45
mhall119well I'd say I'll miss you too, but I for one don't plan on leaving you alone16:47
paultagmy inbox will always be open :)16:47
paultagI'm sure I'll idle in some freenode channels16:47
mhall119but you're not in #debian/16:48
mhall119?16:48
paultagmhall119: not on Freenode, and not of OFTC :)16:48
paultagI'm in debian-devel on oftc, along with debian-mentors and a slew of others16:48
mhall119which is the preferred network for debian?16:48
paultagmhall119: oftc16:48
mhall119great, another network to join16:48
paultag:P16:48
paultagmhall119: ~mhall119@ec2-50-19-101-225.compute-1.amazonaws.com16:51
paultagmhall119: fancy :)16:51
paultagmhall119: got a nice little EC2 instance? :)16:51
mhall119s/fancy/lazy16:51
mhall119got 2 right now, going to terminate one as soon as I migrate readfeeder.net to mhall119.com's instance16:51
paultaggotcha16:52
paultagSo, what's a good key that's not used in a normal terminal session?16:54
paultagwhat's the most "useless" terminal key?16:54
mhall119terminal key?16:56
mhall119or keyboard key while using a terminal?16:56
paultagmhall119: yeah16:56
mhall119%?16:56
* mhall119 needs to re-organize his irssi windows16:58
paultagmhall119: well, I'm working on my little app-thing17:00
paultagmhall119: and I'd like to find a key combo to issue a command to it, rather then the terminal17:00
paultag% might suck for date format strings, or programmers17:00
mhall119hmmm, true17:04
paultagI'm thinking meta17:05
paultagno one uses meta anymore17:05
paultagI always did like the super key for stuff like that17:05
mhall119yeah, but super key is used a lot in Unity, and probably also by custom window management shortcuts17:06
mhall119alt+F* is used in window management too, but alt+[a-z0-9] is probably okay17:07
paultagmhall119: well, I don't really mind, since a window manager makes this app fairly to pretty useless17:07
paultagmhall119: alt is used by irssi a lot17:07
paultagI'd rather not klobber my own irc client :)17:07
mhall119except that alt+[0-9] is used in irssi17:09
mhall119blah, delay17:09
paultagnp, I'm lagging hard too17:10
mhall119so, the drawback of running irssi on an EC2 micro instance, every once in a while someone else on that box clobbers the CPU, and you end up waiting17:10
paultagmy wifi at this starbucks is horrid17:10
paultagso my ssh session keeps breaking17:10
mhall119ssh is surprisingly resilient to network problems, compared to many other services17:11
paultagthat's true17:11
paultaggood hot damn, whoever's playing the blues on this starbucks radio is just amazing17:12
mhall119Hugh Laurie?17:13
paultaghe has an amazing voice17:13
paultagand he can play the hell out of some blues17:13
mhall119in any accent17:13
paultaginorite?17:13
paultagWell, anyway, it works enough for me to type this17:22
paultagsome minor issues, but mostly OK17:22
paultag(and no color)17:22
paultag(and it can't resize)17:22
paultag(well it can, but the term won't relize it)17:22
mhall119your wifi doesn't have color?  that's a shame17:23
paultagmhall119: my terminal app :)17:25
paultagmhall119: I'm thinking ctrl+e17:38
paultagcan you think of any iuse for that?17:38
paultagCtrl+e = ascii 0x05 = ENQ(uery)17:39
huatsczajkowski: of course I have seen it17:54
huatsCastres is quite close fromToulouse :)17:54
