ailoholstein, I think, me, ScottL and a third guy00:31
=== micahg_ is now known as micahg
lenailo: I sent in a few runs too. 1 Gig memory seems a bit small, but that is all I have on either machine.01:31
lenIt might be helpful for someone with 2Gigs to run it on their machine.01:36
ScottLailo and len, i updated https://wiki.edubuntu.org/SteveConklin/rteval03:06
ScottLsteve has asked that we also test this at the console to see if cgroups will affect the results03:06
ScottLhi falktx_ 03:06
falktx_hey03:06
falktxhmm03:11
lenOne of my three runs was in the console. But lightdm would have been running.03:45
lenI did try booting to RL1, but when I tried to run rteval it could not make a new directory. So it quit. I haven't looked at it since.03:47
lenNot enough time.03:47
lenScottL: Just loaded todays iso. Problem with synaptic asking for root password instead of user password still there.04:56
lenEdited ubuntustudio.preseed in preseed dir on iso and reinstalled. user password now works.04:57
lenSorry the file is ubuntustudio.seed. The last line is used to add groups to the default user setup. I just added the admin group to the end of that line.05:01
lenWhen I reinstalled things worked as they should. Is there a specific place for bugs and fixes? or is this an ok place to put them?05:03
lenOther comments... This extra panel at the bottom of the screen is kindda nice on a big screen, but really shrinks usable space on a netbook. The Xubuntu one that drops out when not in use doesn't use up that space, but interferes with the mouse when trying to do things near to the bottom of the screen... maybe not a good solution.05:06
lenSecond I find US a bit lean on "normal" applications... Loading the Xubuntu meta on top seems to be just enough.05:07
lenI understnad not wanting to make the iso too big so maybe just a link to add it later.05:08
holsteinabogani: i have a question/statement about the *-lowlatency kernel06:27
holsteinseems that it wont get past that message about the broadcom firmware06:28
holsteinthe warming message06:28
holsteinwarning*06:28
holsteinwith lowlatency... this box would not boot06:28
holsteini installed the blob, and all is well06:28
aboganiholstein: Sorry I don't have idea.  How did you installed that blob? Can you get kernel text output when that system doesn't boot?09:35
aboganiScottL: Could you ask to every lowlatency kernel tester to provide use their 'sudo /etc/init.d/rtirq status' output, please?09:35
aboganis/use/us/09:36
kubotuabogani meant: "ScottL: Could you ask to every lowlatency kernel tester to provide us their 'sudo /etc/init.d/rtirq status' output, please?"09:36

aboganiailo_: Really?14:15
ailo_abogani, This is my own lowlatency build. Should I test with other kernels as well?14:16
aboganiailo_: No but rtirq doesn't work for you.14:17
aboganiailo_: Do you have installed it?14:17
ailo_abogani, Yes14:18
aboganiailo_: This is very odd.14:19
aboganiailo_: If it isn't too much disturb could you retry with my packaged version?14:20
ailo_abogani, sure. 3.0.0-13 then, on Oneiric14:22
aboganiailo_: Or newer.14:22
abogani3.2 I meant14:22
ailo_abogani, Ok. Installing now.14:25
aboganiailo_: Thanks14:26

aboganiThat's right14:32
aboganiailo: Thanks14:32
ailoabogani, The dependencies for the headers meta package is misspelled. It says, depends on llinux-lowlatency-headers-3.2.0-1, instead of linux-headers-3.2.0-1-lowlatency14:37
ailo(without the double l )14:37
aboganiailo: Good catch!14:38
* abogani runs to fix it14:38
ScottLabogani, do you need it reported everytime someone runs rteval?  or can those who test just do it once per machine?15:20
ScottLlen, i'll respond in your email (and knows you are not on line right now)15:20
aboganiScottL: Once per machine15:22
ScottLabogani, is it acceptable to post the results here in channel?15:22
ScottLi will follow up with holstein and len to make sure they get them to you15:23
ScottLi will do mine later today15:23
aboganiScottL: -devel mailing list would be better.15:25
aboganiScottL: FYI Next week I'll return to work on -realtime kernel.15:26
holsteinabogani: o/15:31
holsteinabogani: i can try to get that system to fail again15:32
holsteinits challenging though... when it fails, i got nothing... no TTY15:32
aboganiholstein: Ok. If nothing else works try to remove "quiet splash" from GRUB menu and take a photo of the screen.15:33
holsteinthe firmware package is firmware-b43-installer15:33
holsteinabogani: i might have to have a fresh install to make it fail, and i might not have time for that til monday15:34
aboganiholstein: ok15:34
ScottLholstein, abogani has asked that those who are testing rteval do 'sudo /etc/init.d/rtirq status' and post to -devel mailing list16:36
holsteini booted up that machine, and forgot to do it before i left the house :/16:47
ailo ScottL: I see you edited the rteval test page17:49
ailoScottL, About the test results, why not just submit the .tar.bz2 that's automatically generated from the test?17:50
ScottLailo, is there?  i didn't know that :P19:16
ScottLi'm not the one who set up the test, i'll look into what it creates19:16
ailoScottL, You changed the procedure for the test, so I assumed you had been in contact with Conclin about it.19:38
ailoBut, it did seem a little strange19:38
ailoScottL, And why the cgroups thing?19:39
ScottLailo, i don't know, just following what he asked me to do19:39
ailoScottL, He asked you to change the procedure of the test?19:40
ScottLafter we get back from my in-laws house i will check on the .tar.bz2 file and remove the > blah-blah.txt part19:40
ScottLhe asked me to make sure to run it through console to check cgroups19:40
ScottLhe was unsure how cgroups would affect the test19:40
ailoScottL, ok. The files generated are named rteval-<date>-1,  rteval-<date>-2, etc19:41
ailoScottL, ending with .tar.bz2 (forgot to add that)19:41
ailoBasically a folder with some files in it19:42
ailoScottL, And maybe only one person needs to do the cgroups test?19:43
ailoThis way, the test could be simplified19:43
ScottLailo, i have been in contact with steve about it, he emailed me several times about it20:09
ScottLsorry, was responded to earlier comment20:09
ScottLbut the part i added was to dump the screen output to a txt file20:10
ScottLi've looking to the .bz2 file quickly and i didn't see some of this information except in an .xml file20:10
Nightrav1nHi guys where would i have to submit a image as a wallpaper for the default installation? :)20:21
