cjwatsonFernandoMiguel: I see you that and raise you an Ubuntu precise powerpc installation image running in qemu in an Ubuntu 11.10 chroot hosted on Ubuntu precise00:36
FernandoMiguelahahaha00:36
FernandoMiguelhaven't used qemu in many many cycles00:36
FernandoMiguelused to test images with that00:36
cjwatson(precise's qemu couldn't do it, but oneiric's was fine)00:37
FernandoMiguelnow I just boot them off grub200:37
cjwatsonhaving to reboot to test things would be a horrible waste of my time given that I'm normally trying to debug something and need to be able to get at my normal development state00:37
penguin42cjwatson: Hmm, regression in precises qemu?00:37
FernandoMiguelgonna try to use a win7/8 in a VB with raw access to install windows on disk lol00:37
cjwatsonpenguin42: yeah, though I think only for powerpc targets00:38
FernandoMigueland then virtualize this native ubuntu00:38
cjwatsonI'll report it at some point when I can summon the energy to care enough00:38

cjwatsonx86 targets seem fine (at least in kvm)00:39

elhoiroook15:19
jtaylorhow is one supposed to find the bugs in the new kernel when noone uses it?15:21
Ian_Corne^15:22
penguin42and actually there is nothing really to say that kernel n+1 is any less stable than kernel n15:51
penguin42normally some things actually get fixed!15:52
* BluesKaj gives up on google earth , hasn't worked since 10.04 on this pc, even with the lsb-core etc ...google maps will have to do i guess.15:54

BluesKajyeah, but I don't advise it15:58
BluesKajmaybe I'll give the 5 vrsion a shot15:59
phasmagreetings, all. Quick question. I have installed the daily build on an oldish box. (basically has just 512 ram) - oneconf is pretty resource hungry. Am I safe to remove it? It wants to remove ubuntu-desktop too (I use LXDE) - Am basically just looking to cut down on anything resource heavy17:01
penguin42phasma: It should run ok on a 512MB box - if it doesn't start by filing a bug if something is particulalrly hungry I'd say17:08
penguin42phasma: Now, having said that, removing ubuntu-desktop won't hurt anything other than it perhaps not bringing in some other things that might get added later in the cycle17:09
phasmapenguin42: Aye. It's running fine. Just a very laggy desktop, even with LXDE. I'll go ahead and remove in that case. Was really just wishing to ensure I was not going to be left with a broken apt. Thanks17:09
