[00:37] gonna try to use a win7/8 in a VB with raw access to install windows on disk lol [00:38] penguin42: yeah, though I think only for powerpc targets [00:38] and then virtualize this native ubuntu [00:38] I'll report it at some point when I can summon the energy to care enough === Logan__ is now known as Logan_ [00:39] x86 targets seem fine (at least in kvm) [01:50] after upgrade to xorg-edgers-ppa touchpad sensitivity (ALPS touchpad) is waaay different than before. [15:14] PP also isn't out yet ;-) [15:15] yeah, i know, but still... [15:15] why dont use 3.1.2, and upgrade to 3.2.0 when its stable? [15:17] http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=linux-generic&searchon=names&exact=1&suite=all§ion=all [15:17] its a development release [15:17] its not supposed to be stable yet [15:19] oook [15:21] how is one supposed to find the bugs in the new kernel when noone uses it? [15:22] ^ [15:51] and actually there is nothing really to say that kernel n+1 is any less stable than kernel n [15:52] normally some things actually get fixed! [15:54] * BluesKaj gives up on google earth , hasn't worked since 10.04 on this pc, even with the lsb-core etc ...google maps will have to do i guess. [15:54] BluesKaj: What happens? [15:54] it installs but won't launch penguin42 [15:55] any errors? [15:55] BluesKaj: 5.1.3535.3218 is running OK for me on 11.10 [15:56] (What a version number!) [15:57] can't find googlearth.bin ... placed the bin in /etc/opt , tried it in /usr/bin and /usr/lib..all error out [15:58] penguin42, the 5 version works for you? I was trying the 6 [15:58] BluesKaj: Haven't tried 6 (didn't know there was one) [15:58] yeah, but I don't advise it [15:59] maybe I'll give the 5 vrsion a shot [17:01] greetings, all. Quick question. I have installed the daily build on an oldish box. (basically has just 512 ram) - oneconf is pretty resource hungry. Am I safe to remove it? It wants to remove ubuntu-desktop too (I use LXDE) - Am basically just looking to cut down on anything resource heavy [17:08] phasma: It should run ok on a 512MB box - if it doesn't start by filing a bug if something is particulalrly hungry I'd say [17:09] phasma: Now, having said that, removing ubuntu-desktop won't hurt anything other than it perhaps not bringing in some other things that might get added later in the cycle [17:09] penguin42: Aye. It's running fine. Just a very laggy desktop, even with LXDE. I'll go ahead and remove in that case. Was really just wishing to ensure I was not going to be left with a broken apt.
