[08:07] good morning [08:54] Morning. === MacSlow is now known as MacSlow|lunch [12:35] bug 885544 anyone have thoughts? [12:35] Launchpad bug 885544 in unity (Ubuntu) "Pressing OS Key shows Lens in FullScreen Apps/Games" [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/885544 === MacSlow|lunch is now known as MacSlow [14:13] om26er: you can change or turn off the hotkey in unity preferences in ccsm [14:13] I did that as the host was grabbing it when working in VMs [14:13] I think that is a reasonable solution to someone accidentally pressing it === ckpringle_ is now known as ckpringle === dholbach_ is now known as dholbach [18:13] AlanBell: do you happen to have a Pencil template for Phone/Tablet too? [18:27] no, but I did find a great android sketching collection [18:28] http://code.google.com/p/evoluspencil/ download available here [18:29] AlanBell: I was looking for something to mockup Unity on tablets and phones [18:31] yes, I was planning on doing that once it was a success in -tv, which I think it is [18:31] the android stencil set has a great phone template in it [18:32] what is the aspect ratio of a tablet? [18:39] they will need landscape and portrait orientations [18:53] I'd call Pencil a success, yes [18:54] AlanBell: seems most android tablets are 16:9, som 16:10, and i believe the ipad is 4:3 === Ronnie1 is now known as Ronnie [21:53] Hi everyone [21:54] How's it going here? [21:58] hey MrChrisDruif, also into design? [21:59] Ronnie; Yeah, just a bit =) [21:59] We've got a bit of a design dilemma @ #ubuntu-phone [22:00] And imnichol thought I was the better communicator of the two of us =') [22:00] So naturally I laughed, but still here I am ;-) [22:01] ;) [22:02] imnichol; I know Ronnie from my LoCo [22:04] MrChrisDruif: i didnt know there was a ubuntu-phone project. where can i find some info about it? [22:04] /join #ubuntu-phone [22:04] All the info is in the topic [22:04] Ronnie; you might also like #ubuntu-tv and #ubuntu-tablet [22:05] oh, these are very wide projects [22:06] Well, me and imnichol thought we have to do much for ubuntu-tablet [22:06] I think you mean "won't have to do much" [22:07] Yeah, typo over there =) [22:07] Sorry aboot that (Yes, I said that like a Canadian according to South Park ;-) ) [22:07] big difference typo ;) [22:08] We can't be all perfect Ronnie & imnichol ;-) [22:08] ;) [22:08] i won't even try to be ;) [22:09] Anyhow, about that design dilemma... [22:12] With the current Unity design for Desktop/Tablet we've got no problems. However with the small screens of Phones, we've got an issue [22:13] Unity is more design for screens in landscape orientation, whereas Phones natural position is portrait orientation [22:17] imnichol mentioned webos or something like that, which is similar to Unity except for the location of the Unity bar, which is on the bottom. I think it would be a smart thing to do for Ubuntu Phone in portrait mode [22:20] Thought anyone? [22:37] dunno, sketch up a few options and show them to sabdfl [22:39] That might be a good idea [22:43] hello [22:44] issue with bottom launcher is density and width [22:45] also, thumb flex [22:45] perhaps an android app to test on your favourite phone? [22:45] I didn't know sabdfl was here =) [22:45] I AM EVERYWHERE ;-) [22:45] Haha ='D [22:47] So you think we should keep the bar on the long side? [22:47] MrChrisDruif: there is a set of android templates for pencil which includes a perfectly good empty phone frame to draw stuff in [22:47] (There are pro's and con's to either decision I think) [22:48] workspace switcher is important on a phone [22:49] Is it/ [22:49] *Is it? [22:49] more important than on a TV [22:49] possibly [22:49] Yes, you want to switch applications regularly on a phone [22:49] But that doesn't mean switching workplaces [22:49] And on a phone they should be full screen [22:49] true imnichol [22:50] If all apps are full screen, there's no reason to have workspaces [22:50] Well, I think there is =) [22:50] I was actually thinking about my android home page with 5 swipeable pages of apps [22:50] That's a different thing that I actually agree with [22:50] 7 pages actually [22:50] My pre has 3 [22:50] You can switch workspaces more easily then apps on the same screen I think [22:50] with widgets and app launcher buttons [22:51] To lure users to the Ubuntu Phone things like widget are pretty useful/necessary [22:52] I think [23:21] AlanBell; do you happen to know where to find those templates of android phone for Pencil?
