chiltsbeat you! :-p18:42
* chilts guesses this means he has nothing better to do18:42
ibeardsleeheh .. actually I spent a bit of time following up on Catalyst irc before starting my connection to home for this instance of irssi18:45
ibeardsleeinteresting thought for the day.  If mozilla lose the Google funding and end up with funding from MS/Bing, will Canonical drop Thunderbird as the default mail client in 12.04?18:46
chiltsand will they drop Firefox?18:51
lifelesshard to say :)18:55
chiltsI wouldn't have thought so, it'll still be open source :)19:24
ajmitchmorning19:53
hadsmorning19:58
hadsChromium would be a nice default :)19:58
ajmitchreplace thunderbird with what mail client, though?20:00
hadsIndeed. I don't even have one I like that much.20:01
* ajmitch uses thunderbird at work where it happily chews up a lot of RAM :)20:02
hadsI'm been jumping between Evolution and Thunderbird. Thunderbird seems to open lots of connections to the server and fail occasionally. Evolution has other issues.20:03
ibeardsleeback to evolution?20:03
ibeardsleeI'm also running Claws mail at the moment20:03
* ajmitch is back to mutt as well20:04
ibeardsleehttp://www.claws-mail.org/20:04
hadsI'm back on Evolution the last 24 hours or so since you prompted me about IMAP+ ibeardslee20:04
ibeardsleehow is that working?20:04
hadsHaven't noticed the duplicate-messages-after-moving-mail-between-accounts issue yet.20:05
mwhudsonmorning20:05
mwhudsonnotmuch ftw20:05
hadsI actually quite like KMail but it doesn't 'fit' with Gnome all that well.20:06
mwhudson(not exactly the MUA for the masses though)20:06
hadsThe IMAP users :)20:06
ajmitchhow does notmuch compare with mutt?20:09
* hads installs offlineimap20:14
mwhudsonajmitch: i've never been able to get along with mutt20:19
mwhudsoni'm an emacs weenie already, so notmuch.el had a head-start there20:19
chiltsI used to do email in Emacs back in the RMAIL and then VM days, but I gave that up a long time ago20:24
chiltsas I did mutt and others20:24
* chilts just uses Gmail these days (unfortunately, it's the best client)20:24
ibeardsleegmail relies on having your email/domain hosted by out of your control20:25
chiltsoh, I know the pros and cons, and being able to use that email is a big win for me20:26
chiltsanyway, the email is hosted elsewhere, but I have control of the rest of the domain20:27
chiltsyou can also proxy your email if you want it to go through your own server, and you can also set up SPF to allow from your own server too ... so it's not all doom and gloom :)20:27
hadsI like to control my mail.20:30
chiltsI used to, but gave up on that a while ago20:42
ibeardsleeI'm starting to wean myself off using my gmail address as a common address.21:12
G(jumping in late here) but I'm a mutt user, if I need a GUI for some reason, I either use Roundcube, Evolution (or a mail client I won't mention if I'm for some reason in Windows)21:55
Ghads: any updates on the joiners?22:15
thumpermorning22:17
ibeardsleeG: you can mention Thunderbird on Windows22:44
Gibeardslee: not Thunderbird... it happens to be a very closed source item of software :P22:58
* G hangs head in shame22:58
ibeardsleePegasus Mail?23:03
ajmitchoutlook?23:07
hadsG: Sorry, waiting on them to turn up, hopefully this afternoon.23:36
ojwboutlook's more a virus distribution system than a mail client23:38
mwhudsonlol pegasus mail23:39
=== mwhudson_ is now known as mwhudson
Ggosh, Pegasus Mail, haven't heard of that for years...23:55
Ghads: ahhh nice ,all good23:55
