govatentslow day at home. 19:25
govatentfor once 19:25
govatenthow about you?19:25
itnet7Hey there govatent and mhall119, how are you?19:26
govatenthey itnet719:29
govatentI am good. Still feeling great about that guy that we helped the other day 19:29
itnet7govatent: Yeah, that was really cool!!19:29
govatentHey can you send me the picture late of the guy taking the picture of my eye19:30
itnet7I didn't remember, but Hannya mentioned that he too was from Ecuador19:30
govatentyup he was 19:30
govatentI told Jorge the story and it made his day 19:30
govatentlater*19:31
itnet7Yeah, It was really a good thing, I was glad to see everything when it worked out well19:33
govatentIt was also good for me to figure out how to work with people in order to meet all their needs in ubuntu. So I will know how to handle people who come to the cafe from the windows/mac world 19:34
mhall119itnet7: getting ready for some vacation time19:36
itnet7mhall119: Sweet, You guys deserve a break! Going to see snow?19:37
mhall119no, we went to Tennessee last month19:37
itnet7Awesome!19:37
mhall119this is just vacation from work/school19:37
itnet7unplug19:37

mhall119going to spend time working on Qimo I hope19:38
govatentlol 19:38
govatentthat's cool 19:38
itnet7govatent: yeah, to be honest I thought that you were taking on a pretty difficult task, and I was proud of you for accomplishing it19:38
govatentthanks19:40
govatenti did not think it was that bad. Just dealing with Microsoft Virtual PC thing was annoying. 19:40
itnet7Yeah, not really difficult, but you showed a really great confidence. I would have not deleted his windows drive until I was sure, the new solution met his needs, even though he was more than willing ;-)19:41
balloonsthis sounds like an interesting story :-)19:42
itnet7balloons: It was pretty cool19:42
itnet7Was he an opthomalogist19:42
govatentWell the only reason he was going to keep 7 is because he thought the virt software for XP was made just for 7 and he would not be able to use it. Being a virt i knew i could just move it into any virt solution. 19:46
govatenthe uses his computer mostly for web surfing and that xp software 19:46
govatentso now he will be safer online too 19:46
maxolasersquadYou know that good feeling when you delete a couple hundred lines of code?19:50
govatentI can only imagine it19:53
maxolasersquadgovatent: It works like this, "Good day to you sir!  You are unneeded as I have found code a fraction of your size that will do what you did, but more efficiently."19:55
govatentlol19:55
govatentbtw, i love that japanese clock thing you posted 19:55
maxolasersquadgovatent: I was laughing about it all night.  My wife was getting pretty annoyed.19:56
maxolasersquadI was looking for a wall clock with Kanji.19:56
govatentdid you find one? 19:56
maxolasersquadYes19:56
govatentthat sounds like a pretty cool clock. 19:56
govatenthum....*thinks*19:57
itnet7gonna grab some agua, brb19:57
govatentok enjoy itnet719:57
maxolasersquadhttp://www.amazon.com/South-Wind-Clear-Silent-Clock/dp/B004TMEBFU/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324324634&sr=8-1-fkmr019:57
govatentthat's a very nice clock 19:57
maxolasersquadAnd it's a lot cheaper than $50.19:58
govatentlol very much so 19:58
govatentbut it does not get to annoy you :P19:58
maxolasersquadWe went to an Asian seafood market and practiced reading the Japanese labels.  The kids where pretty pumped.19:58
govatentnice 19:59
govatentthat's really cool!19:59
govatentbtw, i finally learned to work with VI. better late than never. Man i was missing out. 19:59
maxolasersquadThey where able to make out genmai ocha (Green Tea) and tofu miso19:59
govatentThat's great19:59
govatentYou guys should check out the Japanese Garden and Museum in West Palm Beach. It's pretty sweet and I think worth the drive. I have yet to go as I have never have time and its a slight drive even for me20:00
govatentmaxolasersquad: http://www.morikami.org/20:01
govatentI think you and the family would enjoy it 20:01
maxolasersquadIchimura Japanese Garden?20:01
maxolasersquadCool20:01
govatentand if you guys do go there you must inform me! :P20:02
govatentits like an hour from me . give or take with traffic 20:02
maxolasersquadIt'll probably be a while before I'm that way again.  My brother-in-law lives in Pompano Beach, so one day we'll be back for sure.20:03
govatentcool20:05
govatenthow have you been? 20:05
maxolasersquadAlright.  Gearing up for a major software release, about two years of work coming out the gates.20:06
govatentnice20:09
maxolasersquadThe toughest part is fighting all those who wish to creep scope unnecessarily.20:09
maxolasersquadI call them "creepers"20:09
itnet7+1 maxolasersquad 20:16
itnet7that seems to be the hardest part20:16
itnet7during a project20:16
maxolasersquadIt's hard enough to keep myself from doing it.  Lord knows hindset shows me so many better ways to do things than the way I originally engineered them.20:17
maxolasersquadhindisght too.20:17
maxolasersquadspelling fail20:18
itnet7Sure20:19
itnet7Not sure how bad it is to rethink the engineering so much as having someone always trying to creep in new value added features that will only take a few minutes ;-)20:21
amougehello everybody :)20:49
amougeany active users in the Jacksonville area?20:49
mhall119amouge: we have some further south, and we've had some in J-ville in the past20:52
amougemhall119: hmm ok. I moved up here from tampa, I use to be semi active in this channel. But since I moved up here I have joined up with jaxlug and started a hackerspace up here too. So just looking to meet up with others like minded around here21:03
mhall119amouge: cool, I'm surprised we don't have more active people in Jax, but hopefully that'll change21:04
mhall119having a hackerspace is nice21:04
amougewell our monthly meetings for jax lug usually have around 30+ people.. and we opened our hackerspace 3 weeks ago and had 27 people at the open tuesday meeting last week21:04
amougewe have 8400 square feet :-D21:05
amougeI will have to see how many of them are interested in ubuntu group here, I've heard many of the users mention that they use ubuntu at the meetings21:06
amougemost of them think irc is dead.. lol21:07
govatentI'll have to check it out next time I am up there. 21:09
amougedefinately :)21:09
amougejaxhax.org :)21:10
mhall119dead? I've got 40 channels on 5 networks21:11
amougelol I agree21:11
amougeI will have our arduino door done tonight.. had a heck of a time trying to figure out why the rfid was blocking the exit button from communicating.. Then members wanted more and more features and the code isnt going to fit on one so we are doing a dual arduino which talk to each other.. eventually i will learn to program directly onto the atmega chips lol21:14
govatentlol21:21
govatentMy friend built a IP based door opener using arduino to unlock the door 21:23
amougeheh, ours will be unlockable via a login system on our internal wifi only if you forget your key..21:24
amougeeventually it will fully talk to our membership website that hasnt been built lol21:24
cjohnstonitnet7: uggh.. city teams :-P22:57
mhall119no city teams23:04
