penguin42oh bizarre00:53
Ian_Cornelol00:53
penguin42you could try bisecting where it changed behaviour00:53
yofelfor now i'll reboot to get rid of the I/O errors....00:54
yofelfiled a bug in any case00:55

penguin42hmm never seen that before - Unity has a gap in it's short cut numbering12:24
BluesKaj_Hi to all , and to all a very Merry Christmas13:48
* penguin42 jingles at BluesKaj_13:48
BluesKaj_hey penguin42 , are you till running KDE , if so have you tried 4.7.4 ?13:49
penguin42BluesKaj_: I'm on KDE on latest PP - now the version lists as 4.7.90.x in the packages13:50
BluesKaj_yes , sorry I meant 4.7.913:50
pangolinThank you BluesKaj_ and the same to you.13:52
pangolinWe are getting a light snow fall on Christmas morning, looks like a scene from a postcard :)13:54
BluesKaj_dolphin isn't listing folders in dirs like /usr/bin and lib and icons drageed to the dwsktop don't launch , just gives an "init filed to launch error"13:54
penguin42let me try13:55
BluesKaj_yes , pangolin we finally got some snow yesterday , quite Christamssy here13:55
penguin42BluesKaj_: It's letting me navigate to /usr/bin and go into /usr/bin/X1113:56
* BluesKaj_ sheds more light on the KB13:56
penguin42BluesKaj_: And dragging stuff to desktop launches for me13:57
penguin42at least with PP I won't need to keep forward porting my LUKS patch for KDE13:57
BluesKaj_heh , this pc is in my den, the other is ourmedia server in the TV room , but this pc (4.7.9) at least shows the the folders as root in the dirs like usr/lib etc, but doesn't launch apps from the desktop.14:06
BluesKaj_anyway konqueror has no such problems :)14:07
penguin42hmm - Synergys seems to have gained a reliable crasher in the last few days16:12

penguin42gah, someone already fixed it upstream17:50
bjsniderpenguin42, create a patch, then do an lp branch and propose it for merging18:00
penguin42bjsnider: Might make sense just to pull upstream18:01
bjsnideris it a newer version or just trunk?18:01
penguin42trunk, not sure when they do releases18:03
bjsniderso there might not be another one before april18:04
bjsniderand this problem might not get fixed without your intervention18:04
penguin42wow - he has a gant chart upstream - so his next 1.3.x release is between April/May - so it will miss18:05
penguin42he also has a new release on his dev branch at the end of Jan which is probably also a bit close18:06
penguin42right, I'll grab the upstream patch after I make dinner and then fight with bzr18:08
bjsnideri can walk you through it if you're a rookie18:09
penguin42I've done it a handful of times18:09
penguin42but 1st - time to make a pudding18:09
penguin42hmm that's one I've not come across before; the bzr link on the package points to http://bzr.licquia.org/synergy/debian/    but I guess I want to make a change against the lp hosted bzr, so should use ubuntu:synergy instead?18:57
Ampelbeinpenguin42: The bzr link in the package is where the maintainer stores his packaging information. If you want to make a patch, ubuntu:synergy is indeed the correct location most of the time. There are exceptions though.19:49
AmpelbeinLike the desktop team, which has it's own branches.19:49
penguin42Ampelbein: This is on synergy; I think this is a bzr hosted by the debian packager; it's also a little confusing since the fix upstream has committed the original patcher has agreed with another patcher that there patch is better19:51
meerkatsare you going to get rid of mono?20:17
penguin42Ampelbein: right, I think I've done that  and pushed a merge request20:18
penguin42meerkats: That seems to be the general direction of things; a lot less Gnome stuff uses it now20:18
meerkatsi see20:19
penguin42(I'm not sure what the official position in)20:19
meerkatsI use mono to play openbve will I still have the chance to use it?20:19
Ampelbeinpenguin42: about synergy, please add DEP-3 patch headers (http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep3/). In the header you could include the bit about why you took that patch instead of the original one applied upstream.20:58
penguin42Ampelbein: So that would go at the start of the actual patch file in debian/patches ?20:59
Ampelbeinpenguin42: Correct. Dep3 headers, empty line, patch.21:00
penguin42Ampelbein: OK thanks, I'll do that in a little while21:01
AmpelbeinThank you!21:01
AmpelbeinOh, nice, vlc's status icon has a little christmas hat.21:01
penguin42if I bzr commit that to my local bzr and bzr push that to the same location, is that the right thing to do or do I do a separate push to a new location?21:02
Ampelbeinjust push to the same location, the merge proposal should be automatically updated21:02
penguin42ok, I need to disappear for an hour or so - I'll do it later21:03
AmpelbeinNo worries. I'll be heading off soon-ish too.21:04
bjsnider"get rid of" mean not on the cd anymore, not "will not be available in ubuntu at all"21:14
