[09:50] Morning all. [10:03] hiya [10:08] morning [10:25] I'm having trouble with OpenJRE and Audio. Under Ubuntu openjre seems only to find the PulseAudio virtual mixer, can I change this? [10:27] java and audio [10:27] you're brave [10:27] hehe it's for Subsonic [10:28] I think it will work if I uninstall openjre and go with Oracle's version but I didn't want to do that [10:29] it looks like the Ubuntu version of openjre only has one audio mixer, a virtual pulse audio device [10:29] which is no good for a 'headless' server [10:50] good morning everyone, [11:04] morning [11:07] aloha [12:33] Afternoon [12:33] hi [12:35] * daubers makes use of the hackspaces interwebs [12:35] morning [12:35] er, afternoon perhaps [13:07] afternoon [13:08] Hello [13:08] * AlanBell wonders about Farnham drinkies over the next few days [13:30] DRINKIES \o/ [13:57] hiya [14:16] Pendulum: was that the New Year party round at mine? [14:18] Why wasn't I invited? [14:19] RaycisCharles: you probably weren't hanging around in #lugradio at the time [14:20] I would've brought a keg of Lithuanian vodka. [14:22] gordonjcp: yeah [14:23] gordonjcp: the person who I was responding to is in Edinburgh, which is why I mentioned the Scotland bit [14:26] Pendulum: you'll need to come out to the new place some time [14:26] flatter, fewer steps ;-) [14:27] gordonjcp: sadly, I have no idea when I'll be over next. Probably not going to be any time soon :( [14:28] Make sure you let me know this time. [14:41] Where is the grub list stored? I want to change the title of some of the entries in my boot list === 16WAAFETU is now known as Gary === gary_ is now known as Guest32508 [17:25] gordonjcp: that post on WHT is going quite well, my host saw it and I've got straight through to the boss there, haha [17:27] Azelphur: about your connection? [17:27] yea [17:40] * penguin42 hmms and hars about buying a new TV [18:56] I'm on a boat! [18:58] mgdm: Paddle faster [18:59] this is a new boat; it has fancy new-fangled iron paddles [18:59] (or probably bronze now that I think about it) [18:59] Hmmh, Bronze age boating [18:59] hehe [19:02] very steampunk [19:05] mgdm: I name your boat the "Not for hire" [19:06] heh [19:07] haha wtf at mtr, first time I've ever seen this, it says I lost a packet going to my router, I'm on cabled gige [19:07] weird [19:08] and mtr --report gives totally different results than mtr on it's own \o/ [20:07] Azelphur: You will occasionally get that - although it's rare, shouldn't be more than 1 or 2 packets an hour flat out at gige speeds [20:07] fun [20:08] penguin42: I seem to have 3-4 routes to almost anywhere in the world, chosen at random [20:08] penguin42: so my MTR output becomes huge fast [20:09] wait.. that's v6 [20:10] MartijnVdS: That's not too unusual, although it's a little false in the sense that MTR uses packets that aren't normal packets and don't necessarily follow the normal routing tricks [20:10] penguin42: true [20:10] as long as it works.. :) [20:16] yeh it can occasionally be a bit misleading [20:52] Hi folks, [20:52] I'd like to get my app into ubuntu, I've just added it to launchpad tonight. A couple of years ago it was a closed source app that I was trying to sell to teachers, sold two of them. [20:53] Could someone try the build out on their machine, It works on mine :-) [20:53] https://code.launchpad.net/sumtree [20:53] To get the code down. [20:53] bzr branch lp:sumtree then the usual ./configure && make && make install [20:53] what does it do? [20:54] Video of the app is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc9cu-ekFrg , I've tried also on #wxwidgets and #launchpad-dev but there is no reply. [20:54] neither of those is an appropriate place [20:56] you know... arithmetic precidence is something almost nobody knows or cares about... just saying [20:57] (to the point where even if you know the correct rules, chances are whoever wrote down the question didn't anyway) [20:58] Yea ali1234 I know that in the real world. But in school they teach it. [20:59] which version of wx does it need? [20:59] i very much recommend rewriting it in QML [21:00] 2.8 [21:01] http://paste.ubuntu.com/785026/ [21:01] Qt, I was at that years ago. Then jumped to wxwidget, Java Swing, and now Eclipse RCP. [21:01] wow [21:01] it's like you're travelling backwards through time or something [21:02] I think that Eclipse RCP is really good, hard to get into tho. [21:02] i used swing at university in like 1998 [21:02] that was a hellish experience [21:02] ali1234, did you do the ./configure. [21:02] yes [21:05] I was doing Swing for a bank in 2005. Its probably still in use. [21:06] What version of wx-widgets have you got? [21:06] wx-config --cflags [21:06] -I/usr/lib/wx/include/gtk2-unicode-release-2.8 -I/usr/include/wx-2.8 -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGE_FILES -D__WXGTK__ -pthread [21:06] Is what I have. [21:07] you should use wx-config [21:07] (Its probably still in use) I mean Swing, not my crappy code :-) [21:07] oh yeah, swing had improved a lot since 98 [21:08] Ali do you have wx-common package installed? I had to install that to get some m4 macro that was needed for the autotools. [21:09] yes [21:10] I was following the help here http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/Autoconf#Generating_the_configure_script when trying to create the configure.ac file. [21:12] i dont thinkt he problem is in the configuration [21:20] The two compliation lines are the same on your machine and mine. [21:20] Would you be able to output the result of the configure into a pastebin please? [21:23] Also could I see the output of "wx-config --version", It might be that I've specified 2.8.0 as the wx-widgets version but I need something more like 2.8.10 [21:23] http://paste.ubuntu.com/785050/ [21:23] i have 2.8.11 [21:24] Arrgh, then I don't know whats wrong. [21:24] Maybe it just don't build with 2.8.11? [21:24] But it does with 2.8.10. [21:27] Thanks ali1234 for trying it out, I'm not sure why its not working. [21:29] bye
