Zigi | Hi all, trying to install my DVBSKy S952 Tuner in Mythtbuntu. Im not sure wich type to choose, neither am i sure if the card is even recognised. Any suggestions how to install the device / see installed devices in xfce? | 17:34 |
---|---|---|
superm1 | Zigi: if it's a usb tuner you can check under lsusb to see if it recognized on the USB bus | 17:41 |
superm1 | you can check dmesg for messages about it if a driver automatically loaded too | 17:41 |
Zigi | its a pci device | 17:42 |
superm1 | and use lspci to see if it was recognized on the PCI bus then | 17:42 |
Zigi | lspci should work right ? | 17:42 |
Zigi | :) | 17:42 |
Zigi | but im not familiar with the prints. | 17:42 |
Zigi | pretty confusing | 17:42 |
superm1 | well dvb devices are in a class of either usually they'll just work or you have to go load the newer DVB stack from linuxtv.org | 17:43 |
superm1 | so you can look in /dev for dvb device nodes too | 17:43 |
Zigi | ive got one called conexangt systems [...] pci video audio decoder (rev 02) | 17:44 |
Zigi | seems like its that one. | 17:44 |
superm1 | so that means it's at least recognized on the PCI bus and the ID is in the PCI database on the system | 17:45 |
superm1 | you can check lsmod for modules that might have been loaded for it automatically | 17:45 |
Zigi | what am i looking for ? | 17:46 |
Zigi | used by 2 ? | 17:46 |
Zigi | sry im a rookie :( | 17:47 |
superm1 | well have you just tried using the deviec? | 17:48 |
Zigi | im not sure how. | 17:48 |
Zigi | i added a dvb device in mythbackend | 17:48 |
superm1 | ok so it did see a device node there then? | 17:48 |
superm1 | and it recognized the name while in mythtv-setup | 17:48 |
Zigi | no, thats why i was wondering | 17:49 |
Zigi | i wasnt able to choose any matching name | 17:50 |
superm1 | well if you couldn't match any devices there, then look in /dev/ for stuff with dvb in the name | 18:08 |
superm1 | if there is nothing there, then you'll probably want to google your device and see if you can find out what driver it's supposed to be using | 18:09 |
superm1 | a quick look at http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVBSKY_S952 mentions some firmware that you might need to be installing | 18:10 |
Zinn | [linuxtv.org] DVBSKY S952 - LinuxTVWiki | 18:10 |
superm1 | it might be included in the linux-firmware-nonfree package or the linux-firmware package if you don't have either of those installed | 18:10 |
superm1 | if it's not in either of them, you might have to obtain that to make your device work | 18:10 |
Zigi | ok thx for those hints. | 18:13 |
Zigi | ill try to get it to work | 18:13 |
Zigi | i found a firmware on the homepage. | 18:14 |
