chromaticwtyes10:45
icerootchromaticwt: 12.04 is using 2.7.2+ as default10:50
icerootchromaticwt: there is also python3 which is using 3.2.2+ and installed by default10:51

beyondcrVolume is soooo low when I put it above 100% It almost sounds like it should be at 40% but it sounds a bit distorted if I boot into windows volume works great. I think this started on 11.10 and is still present in 12.04 is anyone working on this bug? I searched the net but all i found was half working workarounds.15:46
beyondcrIf anyone needs info I would be more than happy to share just tell me what to do.15:48

penguin42beyondcr: In system settings->sound go to the hardware tab and look at the 'profile' setting and see if any of the other settings help21:01
penguin42beyondcr: Other than that, it's possible that the OS has a disagreement with your hardware about which output socket is which21:02
beyondcrpenguin42 I tried all the different output connectors I just tried adding options snd-hda-intel model=generic alsa-base.conf, did nothing brb as I restart to undo changes21:05
beyondcrsnd-hda-intel model=generic to the alsa-base.conf21:06
beyondcrfile21:06
beyondcrno clue what to do... maybe I should try to revert back to alsa drivers used in 10.10 ?21:11
penguin42nah, you can't mix and match21:12
beyondcrok ok I have a pair of usb headphones let me see how they sound21:13
beyondcrok they will blow your ear drums out so it must be the driver for specific sound card21:15
penguin42beyondcr: The hda adapters have to try and guess a bit from the bios how the chip is wired on your board and it can take some debugging to find weird cases21:18
beyondcrhaha my speakers should crush the headphones and it just sounds so freaking low I will check later the exact soundcard that is onboard. is it possible the wrong driver could be loading?21:19
penguin42no, I think there is only one driver, but it could be some config thing - have you tried it in one of the other sockets on your machine?21:19
beyondcrlet me try now21:20
beyondcrok21:20
beyondcrjust sound come out of 4 of 6 connectors21:21
beyondcrits not suspose to do that21:21
beyondcrlol21:21
beyondcrall the same volume levels21:21
penguin42have you tried fiddling with alsamixer?21:23
beyondcryhea everyhting is maxed out21:23
penguin42what about things you can toggle?21:23
beyondcreverything is on21:23
penguin42well not necessarily on - sometimes there are toggles that are pretty random21:24
beyondcrsorry all the sliders beside front mic are set to 10021:25
beyondcr*front mic boost21:25
beyondcrhum when I press f6 to select sound card i go to  hd-audio generic and all i have is a s/pdif slider21:28
beyondcrand it is 00 unable to change it21:28
beyondcrok nevermind21:31
beyondcrthat is the sound card on my graphics card that is disabled21:31
beyondcrit is saying Card HDA ATI SB, Chip Realtek ALC892  which is what I have21:33
penguin42good21:34
penguin42you might search for alsa tips for the alc892 - that's the 'codec' chip21:35
beyondcrOk thanks for your help, I will report back later tonight I will also have a buddy of mine test run the distro on his system he has the same mobo but different graphics card could be some conflict there21:36
penguin42I doubt it's the graphics card21:40
penguin42beyondcr: Please report the bug as detailed at   https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems    using ubuntu-bug audio21:41
penguin42beyondcr: It might prompt you to try some things as well21:41
beyondcrsounds good thanks for your help penguin4221:42
