aarcaneso I'm running a few different OS' in a virsh/kvm+qemu virtual machine, and using virt-manager, I see some fields that I believe should NOT be empty, but they are for some reason.  Namely, the Overview page doesn't tell me the hostname or product name, nor does it list the application versions.  Is there somethng I need to do to enable this information, or is it simply not functional yet ?00:23
osmosisIm having difficulty understanding how encrypted home dirs work. The process is so transparent, so I have no idea what its doing.00:39

KoolaidJunkieHello Everyone.21:27
KoolaidJunkieIs there someone that could help me with a Samba Issue?21:27
KoolaidJunkieI changed my samba password via the serverbox, but its not requiring users from windows to enter the new password21:27
=== alaing is now known as funkymonk
matocKoolaidJunkie: what do you mean by "serverbox"22:16
KoolaidJunkiesorry that just what I call the pc running ubuntu server22:16
KoolaidJunkieim trying to map the Samba user to the Windows User, but I'm not having any luck22:18
KoolaidJunkieand the only instructions/tutorial I can find are explaining how to do it through a GUI Interface22:18
matocKoolaidJunkie: are you using some form of centralized authentication server (AD, LDAP)?22:21
matocor are they just local windows accounts?22:21
KoolaidJunkieJust local windows accounts. One machine runs Vista, and 2 have Win722:22
KoolaidJunkieI'm trying to map a Samba user to the user on the Vista machine, and then allow that user Read Only22:23
matocKoolaidJunkie: have you restarted the smbd and nmdb? this should close existing connections22:23
KoolaidJunkieYes, i ran "Restart smbd" and "Restart nmbd"22:23
KoolaidJunkieI had to restart the Vista machine for it to close out the connection and request the new password22:24
matocKoolaidJunkie: Ok. So the you've created an account on the Samba machine that has the same username and password as the account Windows comptuer? Correct?22:24
KoolaidJunkieNo, the original account connect to the Samba Share was my root account, thats why I changed the password.22:25
KoolaidJunkieI have not created a new Samba user, outside the admin group, which I'm trying to map to the Windows user22:25
KoolaidJunkieDoes the Samba username have to match username as the Windows user?22:26
KoolaidJunkieI have now*22:26
matocno. Windows should store the username in the profile once you connect the first time and hit the remember password button.22:28
matoc*and password.22:28
KoolaidJunkieOkay, so I dont have to  map the Samba user and windows users?22:29
KoolaidJunkieI can just use any samba user on any windows machine?22:29
matocyes22:29
KoolaidJunkieOkay, well that makes things a lot easier, thank you22:29
matocNo problem.22:30
KoolaidJunkieam I correct that "read list = username" will only give that user read access?22:31
matocI should. But it might depend on the rest of your configuration.22:33
matocyou need to make sure that user also read access on the file level permissions.22:34
matocamong other things...22:34
matocI think of network shares with 2 levels of access: SMB, you grant access to view the share, and file permissions, you grant access to view the contents of that share.22:37
KoolaidJunkieI set "write list = @sysadmin" "browseable = yes"   - and now the user is unable to write to that share22:39
matocIs this a problem? is "the user" part of the sysadmin group?22:40
KoolaidJunkieNo problem, user is not part of the sysadmin group, just as intended.22:41
KoolaidJunkieI don't want the user to have write access22:41
KoolaidJunkieThank you for your help22:43
