Fudgesome reason why skype is not in precise repos?04:41
samsulFudge; because now skype is belong to microsoft04:45
ResistanceFudge:  Skype, now being owned by Microsoft, has prevented it from being added, because of Microsoft's licensing stuffs (last I checked)04:51
Fudgeit was in oneiric so i jsut used that package04:56
ResistanceFudge:  unless Microsoft releases the code to the public, its not going to end up in the repos (I also dont think that Microsoft will actively develop for Linux either)04:57
Fudgeagreed04:57
pangolinMicrosoft promised to continue linux support for skype05:00
pangolinbut who knows05:00
Resistance^ that05:01
Resistancebecause its Microsoft05:01

sskalnikJust wanted to mention that we are using Precise on about 40+ production machines and it has been a champ. No issues to speak of. Sure is stable for an Alpha.15:47
* alex_mayorga thinks sskalnik is handling "production" incorrectly16:13
alex_mayorgathen again I run my personal laptop on alpha all the time16:14
alex_mayorgathat's as close as "production" I could get =)16:14
sskalnikalex_mayorga:  Please expound16:14
alex_mayorgasskalnik: last I checked "production"=stable, so you should be running the previous LTS there IMHO16:15
sskalnikalex_mayorga:  A matter of semantics or a matter of best practice? Making sure I understand.16:16
sskalnikalex_mayorga:  The current unstable version of Precise met our needs better than Lucid, and after extensive testing it proved suitably stable. Nothing's broken outside the lab so far, and if anything does become borked, we are in circumstances where we can roll with it.16:19
alex_mayorgasskalnik: I guess that definition would vary from one organization to another16:19
sskalnikSomewhat of an odd situation. Normally the idea of using a pre-release version would be... suboptimal, I agree. ;)16:20
sskalnikalex_mayorga:  Ah. Here it usually means 'in the field', not 'stable'. Heh, though that might reflect on how few things we use are 'stable' in one sense or the other. But I may digress.16:21
