[00:31] nite [04:41] some reason why skype is not in precise repos? [04:45] Fudge; because now skype is belong to microsoft [04:51] Fudge: Skype, now being owned by Microsoft, has prevented it from being added, because of Microsoft's licensing stuffs (last I checked) [04:56] it was in oneiric so i jsut used that package [04:57] Fudge: unless Microsoft releases the code to the public, its not going to end up in the repos (I also dont think that Microsoft will actively develop for Linux either) [04:57] agreed [05:00] Microsoft promised to continue linux support for skype [05:00] but who knows [05:01] ^ that [05:01] because its Microsoft [05:04] my 12.04 has yet to show the "updates available" icon in the notification area, how can I make it appear? [05:04] also, it refuses to accept connections over the network unless it initiates it [05:11] Fudge: samsul: huh? precise partner probably won't be populated for the most part until closer to release [05:12] the oneiric version should work now that ia32-libs-multiarch is installable again [05:13] yep [08:47] Hello. [08:47] Will 12.04 mount kde 4.8 sc? [09:37] cousin_luigi: http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/kde-baseapps [09:37] cousin_luigi: 4.7.95 [09:51] iceroot: thanks [13:04] so iso's don't seem to boot in virtual box now, due to pae not being available :/ [13:05] sagaci: yep, but you can enable the pae option [13:05] ah ok, thanks [13:21] sagaci: you have to enable "vt-x" in vbox [13:21] sagaci:v -x is the intel-technologie, dont remember the name for the amd technologie === Resistance is now known as EvilResistance [14:38] Hi all [14:59] problems with empathy [14:59] can't open chat window [15:03] !patience | w__ [15:03] w__: Don't feel ignored and repeat your question quickly; if nobody knows your answer, nobody will answer you. While you wait, try searching https://help.ubuntu.com or http://ubuntuforums.org or http://askubuntu.com/ [15:04] w__: also, you need lots of patience :P [15:04] w__: sometimes answers dont come for a while ;P [15:04] thanks [15:47] Just wanted to mention that we are using Precise on about 40+ production machines and it has been a champ. No issues to speak of. Sure is stable for an Alpha. [16:13] * alex_mayorga thinks sskalnik is handling "production" incorrectly [16:14] then again I run my personal laptop on alpha all the time [16:14] that's as close as "production" I could get =) [16:14] alex_mayorga: Please expound [16:15] sskalnik: last I checked "production"=stable, so you should be running the previous LTS there IMHO [16:16] alex_mayorga: A matter of semantics or a matter of best practice? Making sure I understand. [16:19] alex_mayorga: The current unstable version of Precise met our needs better than Lucid, and after extensive testing it proved suitably stable. Nothing's broken outside the lab so far, and if anything does become borked, we are in circumstances where we can roll with it. [16:19] sskalnik: I guess that definition would vary from one organization to another [16:20] Somewhat of an odd situation. Normally the idea of using a pre-release version would be... suboptimal, I agree. ;) [16:21] alex_mayorga: Ah. Here it usually means 'in the field', not 'stable'. Heh, though that might reflect on how few things we use are 'stable' in one sense or the other. But I may digress. === liar is now known as krnlyng [16:54] 'production' doesn't mean stable ;) === yofel_ is now known as yofel === jacobw is now known as tangowhisky === arif-ali is now known as arif-ali|afk [23:41] Live installer is freezing after the step that checks if I'm plugged into the power, etc. Any ideas? === winut_ is now known as winut
