[18:29] i am running on port 8050 but still i am not able to open http://localhost:8050 [18:30] samba35: port 8050 on what interface? [18:31] you mean host or nic ? [18:32] sorry i dont understand [18:32] samba35: I mean nic, yes. [18:32] oh [18:32] i have 3 nics [18:32] samba35: to what interface did you bind the httpd? * or a specific? [18:32] how do i test that [18:33] should i post config file [18:33] do a netstat -natp and paste the result into pastebin or something. [18:33] (as root) [18:34] ok [18:36] http://pastebin.com/uzhGJcDr [18:38] apache is listening to 8050 there [18:39] tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8050 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 7808/apache2 [18:39] exactly. [18:40] So, apache is listening on all interfaces on the assigned port. if you can't reach the desired content, I'd point to your site config. [18:40] you do need a site configured, of course... [18:41] how do i get httpd command in ubuntu [18:41] I'd start out reading apache's log files [18:41] samba35: you don't, that's redhat's naming of what's called 'appache2' in debian/ubuntu [18:41] or 'apache2' [18:41] ya. /var/log/apache2/access.log and error.log or if you specified any specific logfiles for your site. [18:41] see apache2ctl for more info [18:41] ok [18:43] apache2 -S give me [18:43] apache2: bad user name ${APACHE_RUN_USER} [18:43] how do i fix that [18:44] what are you trying to do? [18:44] -S Show the settings as parsed from the config file (currently only shows the virtualhost settings). [18:45] some other person want output of that command to understand the problem in apache /httpd irc [18:45] if you want to test if the config is valid, try 'apache2ctl configtest' [18:45] ok [18:46] it say syntex ok [18:48] what happens if you telnet to port 8050_ [18:48] ? [18:49] yes [18:49] i got output i dont get apache [18:50] telnet localhost 8050 Trying ::1... Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost.Escape character is '^]'. [18:57] any other workaround [19:26] New bug: #913515 in apache2 (main) "Migrate Apache2 from SystemV to Upstart" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/913515 === pehden_ is now known as pehden === sixstringsg is now known as sixstringsg|away === alaing is now known as funkymonk [21:11] hello, my ubuntu version - 11.10 x64.
