clacheHi, i used Firefox on my Lubuntu11.10. When i press F11, i haven't got the MenuBar. Hover the mouse or press Alt don't make appear it. I try to change "browser.fullscreen.autohide" but it's the same thing.19:55
Unit193Yep, fullscreen removes the menu19:57
clacheUnit193: Yes, but i must be reappear when i press Alt or place the mouse at top.20:00
Unit193That's not what full screen does in Firefox20:01
clacheOn other distros, it was ok. I'm surprise.20:02
Unit193Really? I tried it on another *ubuntu and same thing20:03
clacheI change and the toolbar appear, not menubar.20:05
Unit193...And on a Windows VM I had handy...20:05
clacheUssually, i don't use fullscreen. I place all buttons and adress bar on the menubar. It's maybe for this reason. I investigate my options, thanks to you.20:08
bigstanGood afternoon, all-  Who would I send an email to to let the webadmins know that the promotional banners/button images hosted on lubuntu.net are returning a 404?21:30
Unit193Well, lubuntu-users {at sign here} lists.ubuntu.bomb (replace bomb with com)21:33
Unit193Should do it21:33
bigstanthanks, Unit19321:47
hypershockwhat is the method for taking a shared internet connection and making it so that the subordinate computer have an ip address in the same range was the primary ip address of the computer providing the share? I need to do this so my other computer can print to a network printer.21:52
phillwhypershock: you may be better asking in #ubuntu-beginners as that seems a general question and not lubuntu specific (there are more people on that channel)21:56
hypershockphillw: thank you22:02

AmberJI remember that nautilus had an option to mount remote hosts? I know pcmanfm does not have this option. Is there a GUI program that does this?23:06
AmberJRight now, I use ssh. But I'm sharing a host with my mentor and he is not comfortable with ssh's CLI...23:07
AmberJI need a GUI program (file manager) just for mounting remote hosts and ability to point and click on files...23:08
MrChrisDruifAmberJ; VNC?23:09
MrChrisDruif!vnc23:09
ubot5VNC is a protocol for remote desktop. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VNCOverSSH describes how to use it securely.  It works best over fast connections, otherwise look at !FreeNX23:09
AmberJmaybe, let me try...Which VNC client do you recommend, MrChrisDruif ?23:10
* MrChrisDruif doesn't have experience with VNC....unless you count TeamViewer23:10
AmberJheh....same as me.23:11
wxlSSHFS!23:11
wxlwhich supposedly the gvfs backend will handle23:11
AmberJWould not using VNC require some something to be installed on server side (like sshd for ssh)?23:11
AmberJwxl, linky?23:11
wxleverything requires a server23:11
wxlvnc23:11
wxlssh23:11
wxlsamba23:11
AmberJsshfs sounds simple...let me try23:13
wxlAmberJ: you figure it out?23:17
wxlit *IS* easy23:17
AmberJyes..23:17
wxlssh://user@server23:17
AmberJsshfs user@domain: /dir/to/mount23:17
wxloh you can do it in pcmanfm23:17
wxland it will (potentially) remember your password if you want23:17
AmberJoh23:17
wxltechnically i guess i should say ssh://user@server/dir/to/mount23:18
wxlfor someone who doesn't like cli that's much better23:18
SystemParadoxhi. I've just installed the latest lubuntu ISO and done a package update and it's failing with many segfaults and "very bad inconsistent state" for nvidia-common. I do not have an nvidia card. Is this a known bug? So far I cannot convince dpkg to remove it or reinstall it.23:18
wxlthat's why i said the gvfs backends (to pcmanfm) will handle it :D23:18
wxlSystemParadox: latest = 11.10?23:18
SystemParadoxyes23:20
wxlintereesting23:20
wxli do see this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=140799923:20
AmberJwxl, yes, your trick will be easier for my mentor. Thanks a lot :)23:20
SystemParadoxalthough is there somewhere I can check that for sure because the "new version available" dialog appeared!?!23:20
wxlAmberJ: no prob23:20
wxlSystemParadox: that's interesting. run lsb_release -a in terminal23:21
SystemParadoxsegmentation fault23:22
SystemParadox:(23:22
wxlseg fault on lsb_release?????????/23:22
SystemParadoxand vim apparently23:22
SystemParadoxnow I'm not happy23:22
wxlsounds like your system is borked23:22
SystemParadoxdamn you apt and dpkg- you are far too complicated for your own good23:23
wxlSystemParadox: i know this is no consolation but i have had no such problems23:27
SystemParadoxmuch as I like python, the system package manager should not depend on it- that's just asking for trouble23:28
SystemParadoxis there some sort of reinstall-all option for apt or dpkg?23:28
wxlsystemparadox: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9003020&postcount=423:28
SystemParadoxaha, the segfault isn't in vim, etc- I don't have it installed. It's in the apt missing executable handler thingy23:36
SystemParadoxhooray, neutering the nvidia-common prerm script has allowed dpkg/apt to fix everything23:48
SystemParadoxapparently I have 11.04 after all. not sure how that happened23:49
SystemParadoxeverything seems to be working now- thanks wxl23:58
