[00:09] meh... stupid bug in sound juicer. Won't mount the disc if it can't find the TOC in MusicBrainz. [14:20] astraljava, i was having trouble with rhythmbox and ripping to flac under oneiric :/ [14:31] On top of that failure, sound juicer didn't understand if there was a 2-cd release. It suggested all tracks with a sole cd. Caused failures to rip the 2nd one. [14:31] Gotta file two bugs on that. [15:57] most of the cd rippers are bad [15:58] some of them are just less bad [16:03] i personally dont care if ubuntustudio includes a way to rip music [16:04] i think we should be more in the creation of content [16:04] though, have used rippers on projects before [16:04] you get session files as an audio CD or whatever [16:04] i can see how ripping is part of creating new music too [16:05] sure, but you can also argue that flash is [16:05] watching youtube vids [16:05] and we can never include that [16:05] ill be happy when flash is gone! [16:05] heh, sure [16:05] me too [16:06] and i'm happy when pirating is gone too, but i still do rip my cd's :) [16:06] well... i'll be happy when we can include foss tools to do everything that needs to be done [16:06] i dont want to be to particular on the details in my day-dream [16:06] heh [16:06] knome: yeah...i dont want to equate ripping to pirating [16:06] but some would [16:07] the record labels do :/ [16:07] yeah. too bad. [16:07] whatever... its *too* grey to get into it [16:07] well, in finland you are paying an additional tax every time you buy a blank CD [16:07] just because people are pirating [16:07] knome: i heard about that [16:07] that sucks [16:08] yeah, but here, we just put a single mom in jail occasionaly [16:08] not sure that better [16:08] not really [16:08] but the finnish model is better of the worse too [16:08] +only [17:41] Mike, I wasn't suggesting we should include one by any means. I was just grumbling, since this is the most related channel on my list. :) [17:42] I see there's no informal meeting occuring in here. [17:42] astraljava: mike is to me? [17:42] im not complaining about it [17:42] I don't know any other Mikes. :) [17:42] ...in here. [17:42] just starting a 'what should be included" convo [17:42] Yeah okay. [17:42] and how challening that can be [17:42] I was worried you took it like that. :) [17:42] astraljava: nah [17:43] astraljava: you guys do what you ned to do too... include whatever [17:43] im just trying to appreciate different perspectives [17:43] Are you not counting yourself as 'one of us'? [17:43] TBH, we know someone will always have a problem with whatever ;) [17:43] astraljava: i can.. im just no coder :/ [17:44] I think of us as contributors, not coders. [17:44] astraljava: cool [17:44] im one of those! [17:44] Good, I was worried, again. :D [17:44] hehe [17:47] Since there doesn't seem to be others, is there anything you'd like me to work on during the coming week? [17:47] I'm a bit out of the loop, and not sure what's urgent and what could be postponed. [17:47] astraljava: well, just if there's anything i can do, as far as aking someone for something [17:47] something not too technical [17:48] what about the LIVE cd? [17:48] is that happening? [17:48] I suppose that's one of the most urgent, yes. [17:48] I will ping Colin tomorrow, as he mentioned he's going to have some vacation in Feb., so that should be resolved during January. [17:49] wow [17:49] yeah... i would *love* to have it for 12.04 [17:49] live [17:50] I'm pretty sure we can get it done. [17:50] But I'll know more in 24h. [17:51] astraljava: lets talk then... ill totally bother someone [17:51] or test whatever [17:52] We will need tons of testing, so that'd be good if you could spare some time for that. [17:53] astraljava: i'll make time [17:53] and free up boxes [17:54] virtualboxes.. metal [17:54] whatever [17:54] Good to hear. Obviously I can do quite a lot as well, but we need different setups for sure. [17:54] astraljava: what about the look and feel? [17:54] You should talk to Scott about that. [17:54] i think falk could really knock that out in a short amount of time [17:54] I'm not a UX person at all. [17:55] Yeah that would be good too. [20:39] abogani, i'm having trouble getting the proper source for the lowlatency kernel [20:39] i thought it was me, because i don't understand the relationship between linux-lowlatency and linux-meta-lowlatency [20:40] but i'm not sure now [20:41] i installed a brand new precise install and tried to get the lowlatency source but i keep getting the linux-meta-lowlatency-3.2.0.8.8 [20:41] instead of 3.2.0.8.15 [20:41] and i can't find myself as maintainer in the 3.2.0.8.8 (although i'm not worried about that as much as using it as a qualifier to make sure i had the correct version since you grep'ed it)
