greg-gHello and welcome to the Ubuntu Membership Review Board for the Americas meeting for <DATE>. The wiki page for the Review Board is available here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Membership/RegionalBoards/Americas00:00
greg-gWe will attempt to get through all of the applicants that have added themselves to that list before today's meeting. If we are unable to make it through the entire list due to time constraints, then at the next meeting we will pick up where we left off.00:00
greg-gThe format for the meeting is as follows: We will go through the list of applicants one by one, by date of application (FIFO).00:00
greg-gEach applicant should introduce themselves (1-5 sentences) and provide links to their Ubuntu Wiki page. After the introduction the members of the Membership Review Board will review the pages and, if needed, ask the applicant further questions.00:00
greg-gDuring this time it is encouraged for other members of the community to show their support for the applicant. Do not be alarmed if the members of the Membership Review Board are quiet during this time; they are most likely reading wiki/launchpad/forum/other pages and deciding how they are going to vote.00:00
greg-gWhen the board is ready to vote, they will publicly vote in the channel with either +1, 0, or -1 (for membership, abstain, and against membership, respectively). If the sum of those numbers is positive, then the applicant is now an official Ubuntu member! (feel free congratulate them!)00:00
greg-gNow, with any further ado, lets get started with the first applicant...00:00

greg-ggreat, please introduce yourself ashams00:11
ashamsHello, my Name is Ahmed Shams, Egyptian, Ubuntu Translator, Bug Triager and Community worker.00:11
ashamsFirst, sorry for increasing you load, as I should have my meeting with EMEA instead of Americas RMB!.00:11
greg-gashams: what time is it for you?!00:11
ashams2 am00:11
ashams:)00:11
greg-geek!00:11
ashamsI started to contribute to Ubuntu since 2009, with translation, support and testing, then tried to get more involved by focusing on bug triage and support for Touchpad problems in Ubuntu. Since that, I take care of touchpad-related issues, besides finding and triaging papercuts.00:11
MrChrisDruifGhehe, 1 am here00:11
greg-gis there a reason you choose to do it with us instead of EMEA?00:11
ashamsyes, I was confused of time of emea date00:12
ashamsI thought it was 10th of jan instead of 3rd00:12
* greg-g nods00:12
ashamsbecause I thought it would be delayed for vacation00:13
ashamsIn Community side, I'm serving as LoCo teams' ML moderator, keeper of the wiki-site and member of the current *step*-council. Outside the LoCo, I found my home in ~ubuntu-leadership(-dev) team and going with those good people to develop how things go in here.00:13

ashamsdinda, we were planning for this a couple of months ago00:16
MrChrisDruifashams; looks good. I'll take your contributions section as a "template" for my own contributions page00:16
ashamsbut we prefered to get better organization first00:16
ashamsthat's why we got a council00:16
ashamsor rather a step council00:16
dindaashams:  it can be difficult to get organzied for such a large community00:16
ashamswe want to get more *stable* activity as first goal00:16
greg-ggood idea00:16
dindaashams:  is it mostly IRC activity or events?00:17
greg-gif you have any questions or need assistance, do join the #ubuntu-locoteams channel and ask questions.00:17
ashamsdinda, yes it can, but we borrowed the idea of Focus Groups to help with this00:17

greg-gplease introduce yourself, albrigha01:01
albrighaHello! My name is Aaron.  I've been working with Ubuntu for the past 7-8 years.  I worked on the HP Linux Imaging and Printing project where I did a lot of launchpad support as well as helping Ubuntuforum users with issues.01:01
albrighaI'd like to be a member to be able to participate in the direction of Ubuntu (voting), etc as well as continuing to help users with problems and working to make ubuntu amazing.01:02
albrigha(not that it isn't amazing now..) :)01:03
greg-gthe HPLIP stuff was for work at a previous job?01:03
albrighaYes, this is true.01:03
* greg-g is just looking at your LinkedIn :)01:03
JHOSMANhttps://twitter.com/#!/ubuntuco/status/16016523741116825801:03
albrighabut during that time I also participated on ubuntuforums with helping users with other unrelated ubuntu issues.01:03
greg-gawesome01:04
Pendulumalbrigha: do you have any involvement with the Oregon LoCo? (I notice Launchpad says you're a member of the group)01:04
albrighaI am working on being more active. I've been on the team for several years, but until we had some new management it was pretty inactive01:05
greg-g:)01:05
* bkerensa is Team Lead for Oregon01:05
albrighaIt's been getting more active however, and I will be participating.01:05
greg-galbrigha: good deal01:05
dindaalbrigha: any forums folks around to help support you?01:07
albrighano I didn't think to have some ready.01:08
albrighaI do have someone from the Oregon LoCo though01:08
albrigha:)01:08
* bkerensa has feedback if needed01:08
greg-gbkerensa: please share, if other than your wiki testimonial (thanks for that!)01:10
Pendulumalbrigha: your forum and LP answers involvement seems to not be so recent, is there a reason you're applying now?01:10
bkerensagreg-g: I just wanted to add that due to some previous issues with the LoCo going dormant it would have been hard for albrigha to participate for some period of time although I do see him engaging via our social networks and I'm hoping when he is able he can make it to an event (his geographical location may pose a hurdle at this time)01:11
albrighaPendulum: yes, I had a wrist issue and wasn't as involved in the past year.  But I've gotten that fixed so it's much easier to be involved.  As for why now, I've missed working with Ubuntu/Linux and and as Ubuntu is a huge part of my life I want to take steps to be involved with the direction of ubuntu and to continue working in the community.01:12
greg-gah, glad your wrist issue is taking care of01:13

cjwatsonWhile growth in WI count isn't ideal, I think it's preferable to apparent lack of progress due to insufficiently-granular items16:04

pittiany questions?16:41
pitti[TOPIC] 10.04.416:42
=== meetingology changed the topic of #ubuntu-meeting to: 10.04.4
pittiWe froze lucid-proposed yesterday, and today some fixes were still accepted which were targetted to 10.04.4:16:42
pitti#link https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+bugs?field.milestone%3Alist=3051016:42
pittiI cleaned up that list this morning, looks reasonably well now. We mainly need verification now.16:42
pittibug 810068 is the only outstanding "High" one, but I think cjwatson is handling this?16:42
ubottuLaunchpad bug 810068 in partman-iscsi (Ubuntu Natty) "kickstart iscsi option broken" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/81006816:42
pittithe other three medium ones don't seem like a huge blocker to me, but if someone wants to pick them up, now is the time :)16:42
pittinote that we have daily lucid CDs built now16:43
pittiI'm just not sure that they use -proposed; cjwatson, do they? the cronjob doesn't have a magic flag? or is that set somewhere else?16:43
cjwatsonthey're using -proposed, yes16:43
cjwatsonit's done in cdimage and debian-cd16:43
ScottKtumbleweed: (sorry, missed MOTU) - http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2012/01/msg00560.html seems like something worth looking into.16:44
pittiScottK: indeed, this mainly looks like an exercise in dropping build deps or removing packages?16:45
stgraberpitti: thinking about it for LTSP, I'd rather fix that cleanly in 12.04 and not try to mess with the udeb in 10.04.4. This particular script tends to break in interesting ways every time I touch it so I'd rather stick with known issues (a race condition so rarely met that the only report I got of it was from Patrick Wright)16:45
tumbleweedScottK: oh, yes, I saw that this morning16:45
ScottKpitti: Yes.16:45
pittistgraber: yes, I agree; lucid survived until now with that, after all16:45
tumbleweedseems tjaalton is already on it16:45
pittistgraber: (dropped milestone)16:46
stgraberpitti: thanks16:46
pittianything else for 10.04.4?16:46
pittianything which we really need to squeeze in which isn't on above list/16:46
pitti?16:46
