callaghanHello, I just installed Lubuntu 12.04, at first using the daily iso, afterwards using Alpha 1 and upgrading the system. Always with the same result: I am stuck at the login screen, which just displays a light-gray bar on top and a black background. No content whatsoever. I have a mouse cursor but cannot log in. Any ideas?15:07
callaghanI also installed the proprietary graphics driver using the command line in tty1 with no effect.15:08
callaghanOr is there a way to launch lxde from the command line without the graphical login?15:11
Sentynelcallaghan: sudo start lxdm15:13
Sentynelcallaghan: I think I recall this being a known issue, and I think it might work if you type your username and password in even though you can't see anything15:16
callaghanSentynel, thank you, that works great.15:16
callaghanSentynel, oh, I didn't try that :)15:17
callaghanSentynel, is there a quick way to get back to lightdm without removing lxdm?15:17
SentynelI don't know, sorry15:18
callaghanSentynel, it's okay, at least I can login now, thanks again15:18

giuseppe60pcroque,   ok thanks16:40
pcroquegiuseppe60: NP. BTW that guide uses nano as the editor...but you can use leafpad instead if you're more comfortable with it.16:41

micahgnew chromium uploaded for alpha220:47
Unit193Thanks for letting us know!20:47
freeroutehi, I believe the backspace functionality in Chromium browser is broken in 11.1023:41
freerouteis this true?23:42
freerouteI'm running in a liveUSB environment23:42
wxlfreeroute: yes23:42
wxlyes it is true that you believe this23:42
wxl;)23:42
wxlare you saying that the back button doesn't work?23:42
freeroutehaha23:42
freerouteyes, when triggered through Backspace23:43
wxlbut clicking on it works fine?23:43
freerouteyup23:43
wxlinteresting23:46
wxlshift-left arrow is fine23:46
pcroquefreeroute: the backspace key doesn't do anything (apparently) in chromium or firefox on my system...but <alt> + <left arrow> does go back through the history on both browsers.23:46
freerouteAlt + Left Arrow confirmed for working here too.23:47
wxlfreeroute: yep i can't get it to work23:47
freerouteit's indeed strange, I always use the backspace key on windows systems23:48
wxlfurthermore there do not seem to be conflicting global hotkeys in openbox23:48
freeroutethis is extremely detrimental to user experience :p23:48
wxlinterested in filing a bug?23:48
pcroquePerhaps that's by design. You wouldn't want to be typing into a text box in the browser...hit the backspace to delete a character...and go to the previous page.23:48
freerouteI would love to, but I'm unfamiliar with the whole bugreporting process.23:49
wxlyeah and you're probably using chrome on windows23:49
freeroutepcroque: but on windows when the cursor is focused on text, it just deletes a character in the text instead of going back in history23:49
freeroutewxl: Chromium :)23:49
freeroute(Portable)23:50
wxlfreeroute: if you don't want to bother, i can take it from here but… http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=9574323:50

wxlwtf23:50
wxlargh23:50
freeroutetake it easy lol23:51
wxlhttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/ReportingBugs23:51
freeroutefinally, a zen moment23:51
wxlsorry i just apparently didn't set up guest additions in vbox tho i swore i did23:51
Unit193!bug23:51
ubot5`If you find a bug in Ubuntu or any of its derivatives, please file a bug using the command « ubuntu-bug <package> » - See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs for other ways to report bugs.23:51
freerouteyeah getting that copy pasting thing between vbox and host going is a heavy PITA23:52
freerouteusually with me it doesn't even work after I install the guest additions on the guest23:52
wxlUnit193: not the lubuntu page so neener neener i win23:52
wxli've had like zero problems with vbox assuming i actually have guest additions installed23:53
freeroutebut I don't know of what I should report the bug to, the Chromium? OpenBox? LXDE?23:53
wxlchromium-browser23:53
wxlit's a start at least23:53
Unit193wxl: Mine was updated sooner to now ;)23:54
Unit193Worse comes to worse and they'll retag it23:54
wxlyou'll need a launchpad account but that's no big deal23:55
=== LinoSP_ is now known as LinoSP
freerouteit would be about time then23:55
wxlthx for getting involved :)23:55
wxlwhen you got it, post it up here and we can all confirm it23:56
freerouteI'm not a developer (yet) but I'm fond of writing documentation and otherwise tinkering until I find some annoying bugs :)23:56
freeroutesure thing23:56
wxlyou should join the docs team ;)23:57
freerouteI definitely will... when I find enough time :p23:58
tertl6i found a bug in lubuntu23:58
wxlNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!23:59
freeroutebut then again, I'm going to apply for a job in a DC for nightshifts, so my guess is that my online time will be very abundant23:59
tertl6but its in a VM23:59
wxltertl6: it's still a bug!23:59
wxlwhatcha got?23:59
