[08:51] Where can i see some showcase that deals in Motion Graphics using Ubuntustudio ? [08:54] Everybody is sleeping. [20:30] *grumble* after all that work figuring out how to switch ubuntu buttons from right to left they're set at left to right on xubuntu... [20:36] acerimmer: Heheh. :) Ctrl + w, Ctrl + q, Alt + F9 and Alt + F10 are your friends. [20:40] astraljava, tyvm. Presently previewing the new platform. Gotta say, the transition won't be entirely pain-free... [20:41] acerimmer: from gnome to XFCE ? [20:41] holstein, right [20:41] i think its easier than gnome to gnome ;) [20:42] holstein, my time on XFCE is measured in minutes. Hopefully in time, familiarity will increase my comfort level. [20:43] acerimmer: drop into KDE, gnome3 or unity, or any of the rest that are presently supported, and i think you will see why we chose XFCE [20:43] holstein, not questioning why, just minor venting. [20:43] holstein, I'm still committed to UStudio [20:44] well, it doenst have much to do with UStudio... gnome just reved [20:45] holstein, true [20:46] gnome3 rules! :P [20:46] lol [20:46] ailo: you are using it, right? [20:46] The only thing lacking is some customization stuff [20:46] Most of which you don't really need [20:46] i still load it up from time to time and shake my head :/ [20:47] Why so? [20:47] It's faster in every way [20:47] faster than gnome2? [20:47] I think so [20:48] i dont find it faster than what im using, but if its working for you, thats great [20:48] i know lsd really likes it too [20:48] its just not my thing at all [20:48] It's just new [20:48] New takes a while to get used to :) [20:48] sure, but i dont really need/want new [20:48] I'm currently on Debian Wheezy, where Gnome3 is default [20:49] i dont feel like i want to chenge my workflow either [20:49] holstein: It's not that radically different after all [20:49] im quite happy with openbox [20:49] The only thing that has really changed is that the panel has changed [20:49] The rest is more or less just like before [20:49] i suppose [20:50] With additional functions, like searching for apps in the shell. Super easy [20:50] i just dont like the look or the feel of it [20:50] things are not where they used to be [20:50] and when i find them, im always surprised [20:51] with openbox, its either no where, or where i put it [20:52] If I need to open an app, I just press SUPER key, start typing a few letters of the name, boom ENTER [20:52] right [20:52] i have kupfer for that [20:52] i like that [20:52] Then there's the categories just as before [20:52] yup [20:52] its slick man.. no doubt [20:52] its just not the desktop experience im used to [20:53] and i dont find it personally improving my experience to learn [20:53] and i question if its evolution [20:54] asking: what is the text editor in Xu-Studio? Google says "Mousepad" but I don't see that in the menu [20:54] Ever since gnome3 things are less messy for me [20:54] And I worry less about the desktop, and do more work [20:54] There's some problem with tray apps and stuff like that though [20:55] It's not perfect, yet [20:55] acerimmer: not sure yet... [20:55] Not a lot of nice custom themes yet either. I believe there's a great potential for them, just that no ones doing it very well yet [20:56] ailo: i toally agree with that [20:56] i didnt really like gnome2 [20:56] i *really* like openbox though [20:56] Also, customizing gnome3 at this point you need to install some extra stuff, on Debian based systems at least [20:56] acerimmer: I think there's only terminal editors, no GUI by default. The Xfce one would be leafpad. [20:57] astraljava, leafpad isn't installed. strongly suggest y'all consider adding a cli editor [20:57] by default [20:57] acerimmer: cli editors there are, nano, I believe. [20:57] acerimmer: But yeah, the GUI editor missing is a bug, I know. Will be fixed for 12.04 [20:57] astraljava, found it. thanks.
