freerouteiceroot: I have no idea, I guess whatever came default with Lubuntu 11.1000:00
icerootfreeroute: there is no nameserver by default00:00
icerootfreeroute: you are using the nameserver from your provider00:00
iceroot /usr/sbin/dnsmasq seems to be the client00:01
icerootbut never used that so i dont know00:01
icerootfreeroute:   When  it  receives  a  SIGHUP,  dnsmasq  clears  its  cache and then re-loads /etc/hosts and00:05
iceroot       /etc/ethers00:05
freerouteiceroot: so in other words I should try to kill dnsmasq ?00:07
calamarihi. I have an asus laptop with a CRT plugged into the VGA port. when I switch to a virtual console, the CRT screen is squished on the left and corrupted. the laptop screen shows the correct image. I tried adding nomodeset. that fixes the VGA, however then xorg shows only black & white and is corrupted badly. any suggestions?01:36
calamari(lubuntu 11.10)01:37
Unit193I've had some issues until I had an xorg.conf file, but here's a doc on ways to fix res https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/Resolution and01:40
Unit193!xorgconf01:40
ubot5`The /etc/X11/xorg.conf file is deprecated, but sometimes may still be needed to  pass values to specific drivers. Generic xorg.conf generation: http://goo.gl/UQyq0  ATI/AMD ( fglrx driver ) specific: http://goo.gl/3pThV NVidia ( nvidia driver  )specific: http://goo.gl/iprqH man xorg.conf for file structure and syntax.01:40
forumratanyone notice gnome-mplayer freezing X11 upon exit then leaving a hanged mplayer? It is eating my memory on quite a few systems.01:44
Unit193http://code.google.com/p/gnome-mplayer/issues/detail?id=558 Seems so01:45
forumratbeautiful interface though and nice simplistic shortcuts.01:45
forumratah yes in 11.04 what they don't mention though is the problem with zombied processes. The slight freeze is really neglible perhaps a second or two01:46
Unit193{http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1803118} I personally always seem to use VLC :P01:46
forumrataye that is quite good but from a resources perspective I think mplayer was chosen, it really is nice though if done right01:48
forumratunit193: at one point I think vlc was the only one supporting vdpau for hardware accelerated rendering but that isn't the case anymore01:49
Unit193Well, I generally like it as it plays everything, and it generally works for me. DIfferent people need different tools though01:50
forumratSVN-r33713-4.6.1 is that particularly stable?01:50
calamariUnit193: thanks I'll try creating an xorg.conf if I can't find another way01:52
calamaribrb reboot01:52
Unit193forumrat: For mplayer? I'd have no clue :P01:52
forumratUnit193: seems /etc/rc.conf is deprecated in 11.10? Where is the dns info?01:59
forumratdamn it nvm reading wrong distro manual here02:00
Unit193Heh, isn't that fun? :P02:00
icerootsomeone on 12.04 can please test this? just type "vii foo" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/command-not-found/+bug/92567802:08

icerootUnit193: thx for the highlight :)02:12
forumratUnit193: I like the stuff about .bash_profile and .Xdefaults all those vague config files on your /home02:15
Unit193This is starting to get #lubuntu-offtopic ;)02:16
forumratUnit193: how so I mean those files are included here right?02:20
Unit193Yep, just saying this isn't really support anymore, offtopic is just chatter of any type02:20
forumratUnit193: so this entire time you have been trying to tell me to shut up and now you start rambling on about what you personally use directing me to break a rule of some sort of governence?02:25
forumratUnit193: go jump off a cliff yourself02:25
Unit193No02:25
forumratI mean really now I come here trying to help out with a bug that's all02:26
Unit193I now see kinda how you got that impression, but not quite... That's not my goal though02:27
forumratUnit193: no where here does it say this channel is only for support. Nor that support is not bidirectional02:27
Unit193You are fully free to give support! That's the point of community, #lubuntu-offtopic is just where people go when they want to talk and joke around (as it says in the topic). I am not saying that you must shutup or leave, just if you want to have fun and talk with others....02:30
head_victimiceroot: I can't trigger your error, vanilla 12.04 though not Lubuntu03:02
head_victimI do have the .46 version installed though so perhaps something borked with your upgrade and skipped that03:05
gregounours2Anybody noticed the difference between the posted size of the daily Plc build and the actual size?04:14
gregounours2Page says 589mb once downloaded it's 618mb checksum is good though04:16
gregounours2Sha1 is anyway04:16

clacheHi, i use Lubuntu11.10. I find too slow the movement of the mouse(it's a trackpoint), in spite of to have adjusted the mouse properties at maximum. I adjust it in "Keyboard and mouse" panel and the value is conserved. Is it a file where i can put a higher value?04:52
holsteinclache: you can try http://blog.khax.net/2009/02/08/adjusting-mouse-and-touchpad-speed-in-xorgconf/04:56
holsteinhttps://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Touchpad_Synaptics is great too04:56
clacheholstein: Thank you. I read it slowly cause english is not my mother tongue, but i think it's what I search. I have a second question, I don't like where the notification pop-up are(in top right corner). Is it possible to show it in another place.05:00
holsteinclache: it might be this easy... notification-properties05:03
holsteinhttp://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3139005:03
holsteinlet me check..05:04
holsteinyeah, its in /usr/share/applications/notification-daemon.desktop05:07
holsteinbut i dont see position settings... i think it follows the panel05:07
clacheholstein: I have this file but he slightly different(see name). This is paste http://paste.ubuntu-fr-secours.org/src-10635005:13
clacheholstein: On my 1024x768 screen, the pop-up are at 7 pixel from top and 7 from right. I think it's write somewhere.05:14
clacheholstein: By the way, I don't have notification-properties installed, it's maybe the first step i have to make.05:15
clacheholstein: It's ok, it was in the last post. change the notification program.05:33
clacheholstein: Thank you, i change the notification program later, and change the mouse settings after be sure of what i'm doing.06:03

holsteini dont see the advantage in keeping it "live"22:29

holsteini just do a normal install, and put grub right on the stick22:30
