Mainiac-Work | Is there a good source of current info (11.10) about using MCE remotes for BOTH remote and blasting? I can't seem to figure it out this time. | 07:16 |

I have s | 09:20 |

rockbadger | hi - looking for recommendations for a DVB-S2 dual tuner card that will work well with Mythbuntu 11.10 - TBS 6981 is the only card I've found but I've seen lots of people who've had problems with it - any suggestions? | 13:19 |
rockbadger | I have looked on http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-S2_PCI_Cards but they all seem to be single tuner - could get two of course, but I think I'm low on PCI slots. | 13:19 |

FabriceMG | superm1, one bug now with mythtv-setup, he start and close 1s after, mythtv-setup.real work perfectly | 20:25 |
FabriceMG | I haven't time to read someone in the console, no help ! | 20:29 |
superm1 | FabriceMG: yeah i think we'll need to see console output to figure out what's going on | 20:37 |
superm1 | i was able to run mythtv-setup myself, but it could easily be something specific to the DE you're using | 20:38 |
FabriceMG | mythbuntu 10.04 | 20:41 |
superm1 | ah weird. that's what i was running it on fine myself too | 20:42 |
FabriceMG | if i launch mythtv-setup.real , it's work, i have acces to config of my backend | 20:42 |
superm1 | can you pastebin console output from running mythtv-setup (not .real) ? | 20:43 |
superm1 | hopefully something stands out | 20:43 |
FabriceMG | nothing ! | 20:43 |
superm1 | what if you set -x the script first? | 20:43 |
superm1 | what's the last thing it tries to run | 20:43 |
FabriceMG | http://www.pastebin.com/HtVrdHQe | 20:47 |
Zinn | [www.pastebin.com] fabrice@mythtv:~$ mythtv-setup mythtv-backend stop/waiting mythtv-backend star - Pastebin.com | 20:47 |
FabriceMG | he ask me to stop the backend ( yes or no) , I press Yes, just after , he ask "run mythfilldatabase" | 20:50 |
superm1 | can you copy the script to ~ and on the second or third line add "set -x" | 20:51 |
superm1 | it will show the invokation of every command | 20:51 |
superm1 | the way you did it just passes '-x' as an argument to mythtv-setup.real (if it's even invoked) | 20:52 |
FabriceMG | http://www.pastebin.com/4bQ24Tu0 | 20:58 |
Zinn | [www.pastebin.com] fabrice@mythtv:~$ ~/mythtv-setup + . /usr/share/mythtv/dialog_functions.sh + - Pastebin.com | 20:58 |
superm1 | FabriceMG: interesting, so it did actually try to invoke all those commands | 21:04 |
superm1 | so need to figure out which part of "xterm -title MythTV Setup Terminal -e taskset -c 0 /usr/bin/mythtv-setup.real --syslog local 7" is where it breaks | 21:05 |
superm1 | oh i bet it's that --syslog local 7 | 21:05 |
superm1 | that's supposed to be "--syslog local7" | 21:05 |
superm1 | not sure why it would have worked for me though | 21:05 |
FabriceMG | mythtv-setup.real log in syslog? | 21:07 |
superm1 | /var/log/mythtv/mythtv-setup.log (starting with 0.25 yeah) | 21:07 |
FabriceMG | I haven"t /var/log/mythtv/mythtv-setup.log ! | 21:09 |
superm1 | have you restarted in the last few days? | 21:09 |
superm1 | if not, try to restart the rsyslog service (sudo service rsyslog restart) | 21:10 |
FabriceMG | uptime | 21:11 |
FabriceMG | 22:10:37 up 1 day, 23:11, 3 users, load average: 0.37, 0.69, 0.67 | 21:11 |
superm1 | that's weird then. do you have a collection of other logs in /var/log/mythtv (like 10 or so different types)? | 21:11 |
FabriceMG | today , after update , boumm, mythtv broken, i have restored db of tuesday , all is ok now | 21:12 |
superm1 | can you check in /etc/rsyslog.d how many mythtv configurations there are in there? there should be one (40-mythtv.conf) | 21:13 |
FabriceMG | mythbackend.log mythfrontend.log.2 mythfrontend.log.5 mythmetadatalookup.log | 21:13 |
FabriceMG | mythfrontend.log mythfrontend.log.3 mythfrontend.log.6 mythpreviewgen.log | 21:13 |
FabriceMG | mythfrontend.log.1 mythfrontend.log.4 mythfrontend.log.7 mythwelcome.log | 21:13 |
superm1 | okay so it did generate the logs for you, just not a mythtv-setup one | 21:14 |
superm1 | and a few other missing ones | 21:15 |

Zinn | [pastebin.com] # Begin /etc/rsyslog.d/40-mythtv.conf # Make MythTV logs readable by world $Fil - Pastebin.com | 21:15 |
superm1 | yeap that's the right one | 21:16 |
FabriceMG | i have actived ( 1 year) log file database, i see the log in mythweb | 21:17 |
superm1 | well try switching that "--syslog local 7" to "--syslog local7" | 21:19 |
superm1 | if that fixes the mythtv-setup issue, i'll commit that | 21:19 |
superm1 | but as for your logging problem not showing all the other logs i'm not sure what's going on | 21:20 |
FabriceMG | bingo | 21:21 |
FabriceMG | it's work | 21:21 |
superm1 | ok cool | 21:21 |
FabriceMG | http://pastebin.com/GVLM1Ugh | 21:23 |
Zinn | [pastebin.com] fabrice@mythtv:~$ ~/mythtv-setup + . /usr/share/mythtv/dialog_functions.sh + - Pastebin.com | 21:23 |
superm1 | looks the same, but it seems that fixes the problem (which is understandable - that logging doesn't happen to console) | 21:25 |
FabriceMG | thx superm1 | 21:27 |
