herpgood day. I'd like to obtain the .config file of a particular ubuntu kernel (11.10 that is). Unfortunately, it is not in /proc/config.gz - where can I find it?00:46
herp*sigh*00:48
pbuckleyhe didn't wait long did he00:48
herpok - found it .. it's in /boot/config* when you boot it from an usb-stick.01:03

ckingone of us must10:38
* apw sniffs10:38
apwsmb, moin10:38
smbapw, hi there10:39
smbapw, probably all of you. being on the tube before. :-P10:39
apwoh yeah perhaps10:39
apwsmb, can you try typing in the HUD on your desktop, on my atoms it gets so far behind in its search updates as to be 6-7s behind on 'open tab'10:40
apwso in like an xterm, open hud and just say 'open tab' ... how long on a performant machine does it take to get in sync10:40
smbapw, You are assuming I got a machine running that has it... Oh well can boot it up. Should anyways to get the latest goodness... :-P10:41
henrixapw: :)10:41
henrixjoin you in a minute. just refilling coffe10:42

smbapw, it seems on my machine the delay does not really get bad. maybe a tiny slag11:31
smbapw, Though it seems a bit less useful that it seems to take away input focus...11:33
apwsmb, try it on an atom netbook...11:33
smbapw, yeah, on battery at least there is about a 5 sec delay until the options in the drop down settle11:39
smbseems that compiz is taking a lot of cpu while doing so11:39
smbMaybe it is not the search itself but to display the results in that fashionable half transparent look11:41
smbapw, can you type anything in the new tab without clicking it first?11:41
apwsmb, hmm never used it ... /me tries12:11
smbhm, fantastic. instead of saying "ubuntu-video-lens crashed" it now says "sorry, ubuntu experienced an internal error"12:25
ckingsounds windowsy to me12:26
smbVery much. /me waits until we offer a link saying "look here for more info" which then opens a web page saying "sorry, don't know anything about this one"12:27
smbOk, I have to admit that windows experience is limited to ancient XP :-P12:28
* ppisati -> lunch12:52
jwiogasawara: based on the text in 'ath9k: fix a WEP crypto related regression', I think 'Revert "ath9k_hw: fix interpretation of the rx KeyMiss flag"' can go away in precise/master-next.13:04

jsalisburysmb, cool, looks like there is a patch for bug 914319  I'll build a test kernel with the patch and have people test15:22
ubot2`Launchpad bug 914319 in linux "NULL pointer dereference at sd_revalidate_disk+0x30/0x2a0" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/91431915:22
smbjsalisbury, Interesting. I had wondered about another change later (3.1) which does trigger change event processing on close15:27
smbBut not being able to reproduce the issue first place15:27
ppqHi. Will there be linux-image-generic-lts-backport-<codename-for-future-releases> in Ubuntu 12.04?15:30
* ogasawara back in 2015:40
* apw wonders idly if our tooling will cope with 3 digit upload numbers15:54
apwppq, will there be lts backport kernels from later releases in precise ?  that is the plan currently as far as i know, likely it will be discussed and confirmed at uds-Q of course15:55
ppqapw: okay, thanks16:09
spindritfHey, which ppa should I add to always have the latest vanilla kernel for (and from) Ubuntu? I'm experciencing some x freezes (gpu locks) and would like to try the mainline kernel. I could only find this directory http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ which seems to require installing new releases by hand 16:52
spindritffound it here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds16:52
