karniHi guys. I'd like to ask what is "Release URL pattern"? The field description says "Launchpad automatically scans this site to import new releases."00:50
karniI'd like to understand better how would that work.00:50
karniI throw a file in there, and launchpad will create a release for me? How often does it scan that site?00:50
wgrantIt scans every day or two.00:52
wgrantSee https://launchpad.net/gedit/master for an example.00:52
karniwgrant: Thanks! :)00:55
karniwgrant: This is really nice. Is the site (downloads "repo") format documented anywhere? I see files such as cache.json in the root dir, or LATEST-IS-$version in each versioned directory - is this unrelated, or indication for LP which file to download?01:02
karniwgrant: Last question - does the download redirect to the ftp, or the files are actually downloaded by LP?01:02
wgrantkarni: LP mirrors them.01:03
karniwgrant: Awesome, thanks :)01:04
wgrantkarni: It doesn't use the cache.json or LATEST-IS-* files. IIRC it just navigates up the path until it finds a file listing, then finds any links that match the URL pattern.01:04
karniwgrant: Got it :)01:05

mptWhat is the rule for who is allowed to assign a bug to which people?11:01
mptOne of my colleagues is trying to assign bug 944661 to ~andyrocks, but gets the error "Constraint not satisfied", which isn't informative11:01
ubot5Launchpad bug 944661 in unity "arrow in lens bar is 1px shorter" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/94466111:01
mpt(~andyrock, rather)11:02
czajkowskimpt: worked no problem for me11:02
mptczajkowski, it still shows up as unassigned for me (and I get the same error when trying to assign it)11:03
mptBut if it does work for you, maybe it's because you're a member of Launchpad Developers?11:03
mptor Launchpad Admins or something?11:04
mptIs it, perhaps, that only the bug supervisor is allowed to reassign a bug report?11:07
mpthttps://help.launchpad.net/Bugs/YourProject#The_bug_supervisor.27s_role doesn't mention reassignment11:08
czajkowskihmm11:09
czajkowskimrevell: are you about11:09
mrevellI am czajkowski11:09
czajkowskimrevell: I was able to reassign a bug to someone else, but mpt is having some issues.11:10
czajkowskibut not sure if that's because I'm in the LP grou[11:10
mrevellHmm, "Constraint is not satisfied." Nice.11:10
=== bulldog98_ is now known as bulldog98
mrevellI don't understand what's happening here.11:12
mrevellI'm sorry to be unhelpful.11:12
mrevellI don't understand why mpt can't reassign the bug but we can.11:12
mrevellI can guess at reasons but they're not good reasons.11:12
mptNeither I nor my colleague is a member of the driver team or the bug supervisor team11:13
mptThat might be reasonable as a restriction11:13
mptbut if that was the restriction, I'd expect the reassignment control not to show up at all.11:13
czajkowskihmm it shouldnt be11:13
mptInstead, it shows up with "Select a team of which you are a member"11:13
mrevellI was wondering if there was a private item here but nothing is.11:13
mgzbug 602428 I suspect11:14
ubot5Launchpad bug 602428 in Launchpad itself ""Constraint not satisfied" error when assigning bug to someone else" [Low,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/60242811:14
mptAssigning a bug report to a team is poor practice anyway, so it would be ironic if it's the *only* thing Launchpad lets me do. :-)11:14
mgzbut it could be a different codepath11:14
mpt"we changed our assignment code to only allow bug supervisors for a project to assign bugs to other people"11:15
mptthat's the anser11:15
mpt+w11:15
mptThat should be mentioned in https://help.launchpad.net/Bugs/YourProject#The_bug_supervisor.27s_role11:16
mptand then it should be mentioned in the reassignment control itself11:20
mpt("You can't reassign this bug because you aren't a member of {link to team}.")11:21
czajkowskinods11:22
mgzmpt: the implication in the bug is the fancy widget gives a better error message, I guess that's not the case?11:22
mptmgz, no, it's even worse. It says "No items matched andyrock", which isn't true.11:24
mpt(I would have tested it further on staging, but that report doesn't yet exist on staging.)11:28

mino_hello, i make package of a python script but i don't unserstand how to make a different package for version of ubuntu (oneiric, precise), i have change name in changelog but launchpad refused to similar packet, i need to add name of version in name of packet but how ?17:56
=== deryck is now known as deryck[lunch]
dobeymino_: append ~oneiric1 ~precise1 or whatever the series is, to the version in debian/changelog18:01
mino_ok thanks you, i try !18:01
mino_1.3.7-0ubuntu1~oneiric1 its good ?18:01
dobeyyes18:02
mino_dobey: or it's 1.3.7~oneiric118:02
mino_ok ;)18:02
dobeyyou should append to whatever the official version is18:02
dobeywell, usually. it is a bit more complicated than that, for what you should really do. but backporting a package from precise to oneiric in your PPA, you should just append the ~oneiric1 to the version that's in precise.18:03
dobeyand if you need to make changes for some reason, change it to ~oneiric2 or 3 or whatever, inciremntally accordingly18:04
mino_i'm french and I don't understand well "but backporting a package from precise to oneiric in your PPA" , backporting means ?18:06

popeymino_: e.g. foo 1.0 is in oneiric repository. foo 2.0 is in precise repository. You take the source for foo 2.0 from precise and put it in your ppa for oneiric, so people get foo 2.0 "ported" from precise to oneiric. "back" because oneiric came before precise.18:08
popeythe "porting" might take a bit of effort as there have been changes between oneiric and precise, and between foo 1.0 and foo 2.018:09
mino_ok thanks for explain, it's note my case, it's a new package for all version18:10
mino_I don't understand well : " Rejected: File glances_1.4b12.orig.tar.gz already exists in glances-dev, but uploaded version has different contents. " Ok i have changed source (first missed orignal files) but i have empty ppa : https://launchpad.net/~arnaud-hartmann/+archive/glances-dev , how i can do to up package ?18:26
mino_Lauchpad say : 40.2 KiB (0.00%) of 2.0 GiB but where are files ???18:27
mino_popey: dobey: have you any idea why launchpad have again my source archive ?18:40
dobeybecause you already uploaded it18:40
dobeyand you changed the contents of it. the md5sum (or maybe it's sha) hash of the file that's already there, and the new one you're uploading, don't match18:41
dobeyprobably because you have dpkg generating that tarball for you, rather than using the proper one18:42
mino_dobey: where is stock the md5sum ?18:47
dobeythe hash is listed in the .dsc file, and i think in _source.changes18:48
