roaksoaxDaviey: you are up16:02
Davieyroaksoax: fancy driving it yourself?16:02
roaksoaxDaviey: sure16:02
rbasakI think this topic should be split. There's quite a lot in it.16:03
roaksoaxso let's go thru the release bugs!16:03
zulyaay16:03
roaksoaxhttp://status.qa.ubuntu.com/reports/ubuntu-server/release-bugs.html16:03
Davieyrbasak: sure, make a proposal at AOB16:03
roaksoaxbug #924739 -- adam_g any updates?16:03
ubottuLaunchpad bug 924739 in squid3 (Ubuntu Precise) "after upgrade from oneiric to precise, previous squid config unused, cannot be used when relocated" [Critical,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/92473916:03
roaksoaxadam_g: has the newer version that got merged from Debian fixed anything?16:04
adam_groaksoax: there is not going to be a fix in debian as far as i can tell, i have some direction on possible solutions16:04
justinlwo/16:04
adam_groaksoax: its not going to be seamless in any case, but we can try to make it obvious to users whats happening when we transition their proxy16:05
Davieysounds great!16:05
Davieywell, "ok"16:05
adam_gi added some notes to the bug about possible routes we can take, anyone interested should weigh in16:05
roaksoaxadam_g: alright then, I guess once we release backports are gonna be the way to go here until everything is supported16:06
Davieynext?16:06
roaksoaxso let's move on bug #88398816:06
ubottuLaunchpad bug 883988 in glance (Ubuntu Precise) "db migration failing when upgrading glance - trying to create existing tables" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/88398816:06
roaksoaxadam_g / zul any of you taking care of it?16:07
adam_groaksoax: for this one upstream has deferred it to their next cycle, best solution IMHO is to carry a patch to disable that autocreation of tables, which is what the other openstack components do already16:07
roaksoaxadam_g: would you take care of it then?16:07
Davieyadam_g: your plan sounds sane... but we'll need a debconf warning i think16:07
adam_groaksoax: yes, ill import the patch that was already proposed to do that and include it in our packaging this week16:07
roaksoaxadam_g: awesome!16:08
roaksoaxbug #89392616:08
ubottuLaunchpad bug 893926 in eucalyptus (Ubuntu) "Contains traces of UEC" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/89392616:08

roaksoaxwho's taking care of it/who will, are you Daviey ?16:09
Davieyroaksoax: I hoped upstream were going to TBH.16:09
roaksoaxDaviey: lets not get our hopes up :)16:09
Davieyroaksoax: We don't need to panic about it right now16:09
roaksoaxindeed. let's move on then  bug #92368116:09
ubottuLaunchpad bug 923681 in debian-installer (Ubuntu) "Server install fails when selecting everything but 'VM host' & 'Manual selection' from tasksel" [High,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/92368116:09

ubottuLaunchpad bug 928378 in glance (Ubuntu) "glance client should be separate from server" [Medium,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/92837816:19

roaksoaxNot a worry just yet for orchestra, as we are changing just squid to squid-deb-proxy for MaaS16:20
roaksoaxI'll update accordingly16:20
Davieyroaksoax: dropping tracking of it16:20
roaksoaxbut this should also not longer be an issue withsquid in precise anymore16:21
Davieycool16:21
roaksoaxbug #92850116:21
ubottuLaunchpad bug 928501 in ebox (Ubuntu) "Precise will ship totally broken ebox packages" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/92850116:21

jamespageDaviey: no but I can help out if need be16:21
Davieyjamespage: ah, confusing it with another.16:22
SpamapSYes I will discuss it later in the meeting16:22
jamespageI dealt with resara server16:22
Davieyah yes16:22
roaksoaxawesome then. Last bug is duplicated so won't touch it16:22
Davieysuper16:22
SpamapSblueprints?16:22
roaksoaxScottK: what's the bug number for the issue you want us to keep track of?16:22
ScottKBug 93091616:23
ubottuLaunchpad bug 930916 in amavisd-new (Ubuntu) "amavis start-stop script fails to stop amavisd" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/93091616:23
ScottKIn general though I think the package needs checking over.16:23
Davieynice catch SpamapS16:23
ScottKI don't think the postfix-amavis stuff is working, but have no time to look into it.16:23
roaksoaxdoes anyone care to work on it?16:23
roaksoaxthis seems that it16:24
DavieyI wonder if Ivoks has capacity, he has history in that stack16:24
roaksoaxit seems that a fix has been release in Debian, but yet, we would still need the package review16:24
DavieyAny other issues that should be tracked?16:24
robbiewchef and ohai are broken...we might need to punt them :/16:24
Daviey:(16:25
SpamapSUnless somebody wants to step up and fix them .. like.. now16:25
Davieyroaksoax: Want to go over blueprints?16:25
roaksoaxDaviey: sure16:25
* robbiew has sent mail to maintainers..waiting on response...will keep tabs on it16:25
SpamapSrobbiew: should we tag that one with the release tag?16:26
DavieySpamapS: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-juju-charm-testing is that still progressing?16:26
SpamapSDaviey: actually yes. Just slowly. :-P16:26
DavieySpamapS: likely to make releae?16:26
Daviey(nothing there is release schedule tied, is it?)16:26
SpamapSDaviey: there's really nothing left to put in the release of Ubuntu. Its documentation and test writing.16:26
Davieyright16:27
Davieysuper!16:27
Davieyadam_g: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-openstack-charms ?16:27
SpamapSDaviey: I'm more worried about the juju enhancements than the testing stuff.16:27
SpamapSBut that does seem to be trickling into juju trunk.16:27
adam_gDaviey: i'd like to get to the swift charms rewrite this cycel for sure, but thinking the others may need to wait (and are not tied to release schedule anyway)16:27
DavieySpamapS: right!16:28
DavieySpamapS: I know robbiew is aware of Subordinate and Constraint seemingly not ready yet.16:28
DavieyDo you know the status of that?16:28
robbiewSpamapS: no specific bug yet to tag...just anecdotal information...will get that resolved though ;)16:28
Davieyadam_g: ssl migration would be nice..16:29
robbiewDaviey: ack...I believe it's in review still16:29
Davieycool16:29
Davieyzul: do we still neen openvswitch in main?16:29
Davieyhttps://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-openvswitch-mir16:30
zulDaviey: yeah there some bits in openstack that use it, but i dont think its a priority16:30
SpamapSDo we need to look at supplementing the MIR team? Would they accept one of us to help with their backlog?16:30
Davieyroaksoax: Do you want to speak with aquette about deferring some (most?) of https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-cloud-power-management ?16:30
roaksoaxDaviey: will sure do16:31
DavieySpamapS: I've already tried to make progress there.16:31
DavieyI think https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-kronos is going to be frozen at current state16:31
DavieySpamapS: CEPH status?16:32
SpamapShttps://bugs.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mir/+subscribedbugs .. looks like about 30+ pending review16:32
SpamapSDaviey: waiting on MIR16:32
Davieyhttps://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-ceph16:32
DavieyAny other blueprint questions?16:32
SpamapSservercloud-p-cloudutils16:32
Davieyhttps://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-cloudutils16:33
SpamapSMedium.. a few TODO's left.. seems a candidate for postponing16:33
DavieyHmm16:33
DavieyI'm not sure it's tied to release that?16:33
SpamapSubuntu-cloudimg-query ships in Ubuntu16:34
DavieyIt's mostly implementing API infra, server side?16:34
DavieySpamapS: right, but that can still work with v1 API16:34
Davieyutlemming / smoser ?16:34
DavieySpamapS: What is the status of PHP?16:35
smoserat the moment it would appear that ubuntu-cloudimg-query will ship without query2 support.16:35
smoserwhich is not ideal, but it is functional.16:35
SpamapSDaviey: ugh16:35
Davieyworks for me.16:35
smoserthe /query interface isnt going away.16:35
SpamapSDaviey: so, basically *everybody* wants us to ship PHP 5.4.016:36
SpamapSDaviey: but we have been firm at sticking with Suhosin .. which is not available yet for 5.4.016:36
DavieySpamapS: I found on the internets that you were investigating it again16:36
SpamapSDaviey: Debian dropped Suhosin, but our security team would prefer that we don't.16:36
DavieySpamapS: Is it significant work to port it?16:36
SpamapSDaviey: so, I'm emailing the Suhosin maintainers asking them for a status update. It was promised 2 months ago.16:37
DavieySpamapS: Have a bug as to where/why Debian dropped it?16:37
SpamapSDaviey: I can dig it out. Its in the changelog of 5.3.1016:37
Davieyah, ok, thanks16:37
* Daviey passes the steering wheel back to the chair.16:37
roaksoaxalright then. Should we move on then?16:37

smbThere is bug 944923 which I could use utlemming's help in trying to gather ec2 info. At least this seemed to be there even with a natty kernel (just without lockup warnings) and I cannot see it in any of my local setups. Then since the upgrade from oneiric to precise on my orchestra box seemed to have gone not that well, I wanted to do some clean install upgrades in Xen VMs, which brought up another issue. It seems pxeboot does not work with16:42
smbthe e1000 emulation. Still digging there but it seems the ipxe rom we have has no pci id info.16:42

rbasakDaviey: so all rdepends remain linked against openmpi16:46
rbasakI think going over http://status.qa.ubuntu.com/reports/ubuntu-server/release-bugs.html should be split into a separate topic. It tends to take the bulk of the meeting so it would make sense to have it separated so that other things associated with the release timetable (FFes etc) can be covered without forgetting anything.16:46

DavieySpamapS: they still need multiple src packages?16:50
SpamapSDaviey: aye16:50
SpamapSWe need to review them, one by one, until they're done.16:50
Daviey*awesome*16:51
DavieySpamapS: How many are there?16:51
SpamapSif they miss NEW for precise, so be it, but Zentyal has been good to us, and we need to do what we can to help get their stuff into Ubuntu16:51
SpamapSDaviey: 13 I think16:51
SpamapShttps://launchpad.net/~jacalvo/+archive/zentyal-precise/16:51
DavieySpamapS: perfect, fancy assigning one to each member of the team?16:51
SpamapS1616:51
SpamapSDaviey: I'd like to allow people to assign them to themselves..16:52
SpamapSDaviey: since some may feel more comfortable with ntp, openvpn, or squid, than others16:52
jamespageSpamapS, I'll pickup a few16:52
DavieySpamapS: lets just progress it, it's easier to have someone co-ordinate it16:52
SpamapSSo yeah, please focus your sponsorship efforts on that bug, and make it clear what you are going to review, so others don't duplicate the work.16:52
DavieySpamapS: Really, anyone should be able to turn their hand to any of the technologies it uses.16:53
DavieyIf they can't, we have problems. :)16:53
SpamapSindeed16:53
SpamapSWe'll check back in on the progress next week.16:54
SpamapSthat is all, thanks!16:54
roaksoaxawesome then!16:54

czajkowskitrijntje: thanks for coming along20:06
highvoltagehi!20:06
czajkowskitrijntje: so care to tell us about yourself ?20:06
trijntjesure. I'm a student from the Netherlands, I've been using ubuntu since Gutsy and my main involvement with ubuntu is with the Dutch Translation Team and helping people via IRC20:07
czajkowskitrijntje: so how do you feel the Ubuntu community has grown in that time ?20:08
highvoltagetrijntje: are you involved with any LoCo activities? Have you ever participated in any local translation events before?20:08
trijntjeI'm not sure about the wider community, since the first few years I only followed the loco team20:09
trijntjewhen I first started translating the dutch team had just been revived by cumulus007 after being dead for a couple of years, so there has been a lot of improvement there20:09
trijntjeI have participated in a number of online 'translation sprints', but I've not been to any local events in person20:10
highvoltagetrijntje: if you could change any one thing in the translation community, what would that be?20:10
highvoltage(or even Ubuntu, if you like)20:10
trijntjeWe do get quite a number of people who want to join the team, but never really follow through to become a full member. It would be nice if that changed, but I'm not sure how20:11
trijntjeWe've tried a number of things like appointing a mentor for new translators, but that didn't really help20:12
FireBeardtrijntje: spammed this channel, so I thought I'd join20:12
trijntjeprobably it's just the fact that translating is hard work, and there is alway's more of it ;)20:12

czajkowskijo-erlend: so recently you've been rather vocal on the unity mailing list, do you think being a member will make you step back a bit before you reply sometimes and possibly think more about the CoC and the fact you're an Ubutnu member?20:19
highvoltagePersonally I think it's better for someone to step over the line a bit now and again than be afraid to speak up and participate.20:20
jo-erlendczajkowski, I try to consider the CoC in any case. I don't always succeed, but I do take it seriously, or I wouldn't have signed it.20:20
czajkowskihmm ok20:21
iulianFair enough.20:21
czajkowskijo-erlend: how do you see your role in the community growning ?20:21
jo-erlendif you look at the large number of debates I've participated in, I think you'll find that I hardly ever loose my cool. And when I do, I have no fear of apologizing for it afterwards.20:21
highvoltageIt's also really easy for someone to read something into an email that isn't even there.20:22
jo-erlendczajkowski, my involvement with askubuntu won't be reduced. I've recently taken over as a contact for the Norwegian loco, and I'm just beginning to connect to different news media20:22
czajkowskiok20:22
czajkowskianyother questions or comments folks?20:23
drubinnope20:23
highvoltageI've seen calm conversations on lists between people I know and then I have someone else who reads it who comes to my desk and say "omg did you see that flameware on ubuntu-devel!?"... and then I explain to them that it's not that at all, and it's easier to tell when you know the people somewhat.20:23
jo-erlendI'm getting more serious about my work with support, documentation and ... PR. But I'm also working more on code now.20:23

czajkowskiheartsmagic: so care to tell us about you and your role in the ubuntu community ?20:28
heartsmagicmy name is serkan and ı am 32 years old. I have been managing Ubuntu Turkey Loco team as I stated for many years with my friends. I think this is the biggest role for me in the Ubuntu community20:29
heartsmagicwe have some subgroups, I am trying to keep them alive20:30
ogra_hmm, if you are leading the LoCO there was nobody wanting to write a testimonial for you ?20:30
highvoltageheartsmagic: does the loco team have a website or list of accomplishments?20:31
highvoltageheartsmagic: is it an official loco?20:31
czajkowski#link http://loco.ubuntu.com/teams/ubuntu-tr/events/history20:31

ogra_ooh, you should have done ... testimonials weight a lot in our decision process20:32
heartsmagichighvoltage, we don't keep a list like that, and we are not an *official* loco team right now20:32
iulianheartsmagic: It's an important step for you. I think that you should've.20:32
heartsmagicsure, but there is not any testimonials right now, sorry20:33
czajkowskiheartsmagic: we do look at how people interact with the community not just their loco20:34

ogra_or come to the meeting and praise you etc20:35
heartsmagicczajkowski, I am interacting with community through our Loco20:35
highvoltageheartsmagic: it's useful for us if we could hear back from other people who have worked with you. they can leave a message under testimonials and also cheer for you in the RMB meetings20:36
czajkowskiheartsmagic: I think it would be better if you could come back at another meeting with some testimonals on your page as it's rather hard now to judge20:36

heartsmagicno I wont i think :)20:38
iulianheartsmagic: Why's that?20:38
heartsmagicI mean if telling how I participate is not enogh for you, I wont insist on being a member20:39
drubinIf you don't want to come back to re-apply why would you want to apply in the first place20:39
heartsmagictestimonials is good but musnt be a mandatory20:39
ogra_heartsmagic, we are supposed to judge by your interaction with others over the time you worked with the community, if nobody tells us about how you helped them, how should we judge ?20:39
iulianheartsmagic: No, that's the whole point. You should try again. I have to disagree with you on that, testimonials play a very important role.20:39
drubinheartsmagic: Yes but all your work has been working with people not writing code or answering forums or translations so there is no way for us to double check on things20:40
highvoltageheartsmagic: you don't have to insist. we think you're membership material but we'd like some feedback from the people you have worked with. unfortunately the ubuntu project is too big for us to know everyone personally, so we can't instictively know what you have done in the past.20:40
highvoltageand that's standard procedure for every singly person who has applied for membership before.20:40
heartsmagic I got it, but you asked why20:40
ogra_heartsmagic, testimonials are  not mandatory, but your wikipage doesnt really list much we can checkm the wikipage of your locoteam neither etc20:40
highvoltageheartsmagic: ok, it's up to you though. thanks for joining the meeting today.20:40
ogra_testimonials would weight out the lacking bits for sure20:41
