thumpermhall119: ask JohnLea01:04
bschaeferjaytaoko, hey, ping01:25
bschaeferthumper, also if you get a chance, this branch should be just need a quick glance over for a review:01:26

thumperbschaefer: sure01:26
thumperbschaefer: trying to look at yet another regression01:26
* thumper sighs01:26
bschaefero no!01:26
bschaeferthumper, what is the regression?01:27
thumpersuper-a not always showing the dash01:27
bschaeferugg those dash bugs are annoying :(01:28
bschaeferif I can finish up this dead key regression Ill see if I can help!01:28
thumper:)01:29
bschaeferbut I also have all day tomorrow! (Yay for being 21 hours behind you haha)01:31
thumperthomi: there is certainly a bug01:52
thumperI'm looking at timing01:52
thumperand there is some weirdness01:53
thumperI think I'm getting close01:53
thomicool.01:53
thomiit seems to be getting worse for me over time01:53
thomi...but this morning gord said it worked fine for hom01:53
thomi*him01:53
thomimaybe it only happens on blinging laptops :P01:53
thumperthere is certainly some issue...01:55
* thumper adds moar logging01:55
thumperthomi: I've found the problem, now just wondering how it ever worked02:22
thomicool!02:22
thomiwhat was it?02:22
thumperit is a timing issue02:25
thumperI think made worse by changes in the compiz screen grabs02:25
thumpertwo different methods arguing over who gets to show the dash02:25
thumperhowever one is a toggle02:25
thumperso if it loses, it hides the dash02:26
thumper:)02:26
* thumper tries the fix (of commenting out one line)02:26
thomiheh02:28
thominice02:28
thomile's get that merged - I want my autopilot tests to pass02:28
thumperhmm...02:30
thumpernothing is that simple02:30
thumperarse02:30
thumperstill a timing issue02:30
* thumper digs more02:30
thumperthomi: ok03:06
thumperthomi: the regression is in the tap detection :(03:07
thomiok?03:07
thomihah03:07
thumpersuper-a03:07
thumperis showing the application lens03:07
thumperthen thinking you tapped super03:07
thumperto close the dash03:07
thomi*sigh*03:07
thumperyep03:07
thomiahh well, at least we know what the issue is03:08
thumperyep03:08
thomiwhat do we do now?03:08
* thumper emails Daniel :-|03:08
thomiwhat a way to join the company!03:08
snadgehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/77028303:08
ubot5`Ubuntu bug 770283 in fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) "[fglrx]title bar does not update on non-maximized windows" [Undecided,Confirmed]03:08
thomi"Welcome to the company - FIX THIS NOW"03:08
snadgeplease fix this bug.. it is really annoying ;)03:08
snadgei dont blame the ubuntu devs.. i want to march into amd's office and slap the linux catalyst driver guy around03:09
snadgehe should just accidentally release the source code to fglrx on piratebay03:10
snadgeits frustrating having to depend on binary drivers that are poorly maintained03:11
snadgeit would be nice if they could abandon fglrx.. and create proprietary addons to the radeon driver03:11
snadgewhich you can obviously disable or not use at compile or run time03:12
thomisnadge: I'd love to help, but I'm running an nvidia chipset, so can't reproduce :(03:12
snadgeyeah i have a house full of radeon chips.. its frustrating03:13
snadgeso i have some information regarding the fglrx window title bug06:23
snadgeapparently everyone else.. intel, nvidia, radeon etc.. uses a GL2 dri06:23
snadgebut for whatever reason, fglrx is still on GL106:23
snadgethe window title bug used to exist on other gpus as well06:23
snadgebut it seems instead of fixing the problem.. they switched to using GL206:23
snadgeand fixed the drivers instead.. (because they're open)06:24
snadgeamd has committed to supporting GL2 dri, but this hasn't happened yet06:24

angelocMacSlow: i think i found the root of the problem!10:09
angelocMacSlow: on row 2695 in Launcher.cpp this will be called unrespectively of where launcher mouse is on10:09
angelocMacSlow: _dnd_hovered_icon = new SpacerLauncherIcon();10:09
angelocMacSlow: how choose a launcher instead of another? Involves it mouse x,y?10:09
angelocbug 92502110:10

Saviqgord, hey, any idea why the word highlights in HUD results are gone in indicator-appmenu from ppa:ubuntu-desktop/ppa?11:15
gordSaviq, i'd imagine that ted made a change in the backend to stop supplying the pango formatting to highlight them11:17
Saviqgord, yeah that's what I'd thought, was just wondering whether you know the cause for that, I'll wait for Ted to show up, thanks11:17
gordSaviq, well we discussed replacing the pango <b> tag with one we could match against client side, but i'm not sure if he went and made that change before we were ready or not11:18
Saviqgord, ok thanks11:19
Saviqgord, hmm just noticed that it lost the app icon, too11:29
gordSaviq, you are going to make me install the ppa and see aren't you? ;)11:46
Saviqgord, no, not really :)11:47
Saviqgord, we're reproducing it here no problem11:47
Saviqso will wait for Ted to confirm11:47
gordi might as well take a look, i have a few minutes before lunch11:47

Saviqdidrocks, any news on unity-common getting into unity-merger?16:31
didrocksSaviq: no, didn't really get the time to look at the issue we saw the other day on pbuilder with all the unity release thing…16:34
didrocksSaviq: but I though you just needed a dummy schema?16:35
didrocksSaviq: can the test just copy it16:35
didrocksrun update-glib…16:35
didrocksand be done with it?16:35
didrocks(you are root on the system in the merger)16:35
Saviqdidrocks, well, yeah, that would work, too16:36
Kaleo;)16:37
Saviqbut... then we would have to jump through hoops for the test to pass during normal testing without root16:37
Saviqand honestly sounds like a bad thing to do ;P16:37
didrocksgetuid? :)16:37
Saviqdidrocks, I can get a hook to install unity-common only when building unity-2d, will you accept that?16:38
didrocksSaviq: oh, you found that? yeah, that was what I intended to do with my first proposal16:38
didrocksSaviq: just didn't get the time to look at how to do that in the D*16:39
Saviqdidrocks, well, didn't, yet, but can spend some time to make sure of that16:39
Saviqdidrocks, ok, I'll take a look16:39
didrocksyeah, that's was my first intend to do :)16:39
didrocksthanks Saviq16:39
snadgeso compiz/nux still uses opengl 1 code path with fglrx?16:42
snadgeand every other driver is using opengl 2?16:42
snadgei heard some words to this effect.. i dont really know what im talking about.. and hoping someone can shed some more light on this16:42
jaytaokosnadge: compiz/nux uses the highest version of opengl installed on the system. The minimum version of opengl that we support is opengl 1.4. In practice we don't use features of opengl beyond opengl 2.116:52
jaytaokosnadge: there use to be a problem with fglrx and compiz. the fglrx driver would set compiz in indirect mode. That mode is restrictive and not very efficient. That issue has been resolved.16:54

angelocdidrocks: unity from lp:unity doesn't compile17:29
angelocdidrocks: unityshell.cpp:1527:26: error: ‘StateTermTapped’ is not a member of ‘CompAction’17:30
didrocksangeloc: it does compile, do you have latest compiz?17:30
angelocdidrocks, pulled right now17:30
didrocksangeloc: it's compiled automatically on every commit, otherwise trunk is rejected :)17:30
angelocdidrocks: mmm, i have to try harder!17:31
didrocksangeloc: add the ppa:unity-team/ppa17:31
didrocksyou will get latest compiz and latest nux17:31
didrockswhich are needed for unity trunk17:31
angelocdidrocks: wow!17:31
didrocksSaviq: if you need this branch to be merged, I can temporary adding unity-common without any constraint17:33
didrocksthen removed once merged17:33
didrocks(as unity is frozen, it's fine)17:33
snadgejaytaoko: has been resolved where.. in tree? or unity ppa?17:41
snadgeits this bug im specifically referring too anyway17:41
snadgehttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/77028317:41
ubot5`Ubuntu bug 770283 in fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) "[fglrx]title bar does not update on non-maximized windows" [Undecided,Confirmed]17:41
didrocksSaviq: good new, I know what to do!17:43
didrocksSaviq: ok, my try didn't work out, but I'm close to! I'll have a deeper look on monday :)18:11
jaytaokosnadge: the problem I am was referring has been resolved in compiz and released. The bug you mentioned is something else. From  your previous question, I thought you needed more info about the version of OpenGL we are using.18:32
