[16:53] Can I ask you a question? [16:53] luismi: sure [16:54] Thank you. I,m trying to read BlueRay Disks but i don know the application I need. [16:55] ah... well first this channel is not truly for that kind of support question... but let me try to find our an answer [16:55] Oh sorry..... and Thank you very much. [16:56] luismi: here is a resource on askubuntu.com that looks to answer that question [16:56] http://askubuntu.com/questions/9912/how-can-i-watch-blu-ray-discs [16:56] ok im going to try. Thank you very much again from Spain. [16:56] luismi: you are most welcome [16:57] do you have the links for your loco team? [16:57] luismi: http://www.ubuntu-es.org/ [16:57] they should provide some fantastic local resources [17:10] As I told you Iḿ beginning. Iḿ trying not to use Windows any more ....... [17:12] luismi: it is well worth the effort [17:13] Letś see if i,m able or not ....... [17:13] the reason I told you about the loco team is that they can help... and there may even be people near you to meet up with [17:13] there are times when text over the Internet does not work as well as being there :-) [17:14] aksubuntu.com is also a fantastic resource [17:14] also the forums are fantastic too [17:14] http://ubuntuforums.org/ [17:15] I did the same as you not so long ago... and these resources helped me make the transition [17:15] I have converted all my kids to Ubuntu too [17:16] Oh. Great. [17:17] So it is possible to do everything with Ubuntu ...... I mean .. you dont miss Windows for anything ... [17:18] Only for doing my taxes do I do Windows [17:18] :-) [17:18] Everything else is Ubuntu. My daugher does her homework on Ubuntu as well. [17:19] What about files compatibility (Microsoft word, excel ......) ? [17:19] I am able to open most documents I get from others [17:19] my daughter turns in her work as PDF files to avoid any layout issues [17:19] Great .... And what about Virus? [17:20] Not a single one. [17:20] Is one of my reasons to change ... )-: [17:20] Mine as well... [17:20] Great .... [17:20] with Windows I would have been afraid to allow my kids too much freedom [17:20] with Ubuntu I do not worry [17:21] I have also 3 kids and this is an other big reason .... [17:21] how old are your children? Mine are 4, 6 and 11 [17:21] 7, 5 and 1 [17:22] Great ages!! [17:22] Beginners ....... with computers [17:22] luismi: LibreOffice doesn't usually have problems with opening Word, Excel, etc, and when it does the problems are similar to what you'd encounter when you open an Office 2003 document with Office 2007, for instance [17:22] Yeah... I started each child out at 3 with their own computer [17:23] and you can save documents in LibreOffice in Microsoft Word format if you're sharing with folks using MSOffice [17:23] (or Excel, etc, we have to save as .xls to send to our accountant) [17:24] Thank you pleia2. And if I use LibreOffice for writing a document .... can i save it in a format readable with Microsoft word? [17:24] yes, you can save it as a microsoft word document [17:24] Sorry you write much faster than I .... [17:24] :) [17:27] If I ask you too much just say it please ...... I use also torrents (downloads) and i have tried Bit torrent transmission .... seems to be slower than "bitcomet" or others i have tryed ..... Do you use torrents? [17:28] I use transmission, but I only really use it for Ubuntu ISOs and I don't have anything to compare it to [17:29] ok. I'm going to do my best in this new world ..... I have to read a lot. [17:30] Thank you pleia2 and cprofitt ... [17:31] luismi: don't forget you're not alone in this new world, so feel free to come back with questions, or just hangout here with the rest of us [17:33] Ok. Thank you. === Ronnie1 is now known as Ronnie
