roadmrHi everyone, welcome to the Ubuntu Friendly meeting!16:01
roadmrToday we have the following topics to talk about:16:01
roadmr* Checkbox 0.13.5 and Precise Beta 2 (roadmr)16:02
roadmr* Any Other Business16:02
roadmrAs usual, you're welcome to participate, to do so, indicate you want to speak by raising your hand (o/). Don't forget to also signal when you're done using ..16:02
roadmrLet's get started with the agenda!16:03
roadmr[TOPIC] Checkbox 0.13.5 and Precise Beta 2  (roadmr)16:03
=== meetingology changed the topic of #ubuntu-meeting to: Ubuntu Meeting Grounds | Calendar/Scheduled meetings: http://fridge.ubuntu.com/calendar | Logs: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MeetingLogs | Meetingology documentation: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology | Ubuntu Friendly Meeting | Current topic: Checkbox 0.13.5 and Precise Beta 2 (roadmr)
roadmrWe want to try to include a new version of Checkbox (0.13.5) in Precise Beta 2, to get as much exposure and bug reports/fixes as possible in this important milestone.16:03
roadmrThis is not a done deal yet, we expect to prepare the upload tomorrow and the Beta freeze deadline is this Thursday. But I'll send a message to the mailing list if we manage to make it on time.16:03
roadmrIf so, expect this new version of Checkbox to land with Beta 2 on March 29th!16:04
roadmrSo once again, we'd like to ask for your help in running it and reporting any bugs you may find (by running ubuntu-bug checkbox, for instance).16:04
roadmrThis will allow us to continue fixing those bugs in time for the 12.04 release.16:04
roadmrNote that thanks to the awesome work from both community and the Checkbox team, we had a large number of bugfixes which will hopefully make it into 0.13.5. Thanks everyone!16:05
arao/16:05
roadmrara: go ahead!16:06
araare we going to try https://bugs.launchpad.net/checkbox/+bug/957090 to be part of that upload?16:06
ubottuLaunchpad bug 957090 in checkbox "[UIFe] [Checkbox Qt] The welcome tab is confusing a lot of users" [Undecided,In progress]16:06
arawhat about the comments field?16:06
roadmrara: if we manage to get the exception approved, yes, ideally16:07
roadmrara: about the comments field thing, there's a bug about that, do you think we'd also need UIFe for that?16:07
araroadmr, yes, if we want it in precise we will need both uife and ffe16:08
roadmrara: ok, so I guess it depends on the paperwork being done in time then. I'd prefer to avoid a scramble like we had for 0.13.3, preparing everything at the last possible minute16:09
araroadmr, OK, let's give us today to get the paperwork done for those two16:09
araroadmr, what's the bug number for the comment field?16:10
roadmrara: let me find it...16:10
* roadmr looking16:11
roadmrara: ok, I lied, there's no bug about the comment thing :( so far it's a [FEATURE]16:12
roadmrbut I agree on trying to get those bugs today and starting with the upload tomorrow16:13
roadmrok, shall we move on?16:14

jdstrandJulian Taylor (jtaylor) provided a debdiff for oneiric for super (LP: #954579)18:08
jdstrandYour work is very much appreciated and will keep Ubuntu users secure. Great job! :)18:08
jdstrand[TOPIC] Weekly stand-up report18:08
=== meetingology changed the topic of #ubuntu-meeting to: Weekly stand-up report
jdstrandI'll go first18:08
jdstrandI'm on triage this week. I'm happy to see that after running process_cves this morning, there was nothing new in oss-security18:09
jdstrand(I went back 5 weeks by exporting my oss-security folder in evo as mbox, then running check-cves --untriaged on it)18:10
jdstrandso, hopefully this indicates we are back on track despite mitre's efforts to thwart us :)18:10
mdeslaurhehe18:11
jdstrandmy focus this week is on finishing up my MIR secruity audits. I completed many last week but have 3 left. I think 1 more will be coming after that though18:11
jdstranddepending on time, I will then move to install audits18:11
mdeslaurjdstrand: you did the locate_cves on it first though, right?18:11
jdstrandmdeslaur: you know, I missed that step :)18:12
* jdstrand will report back momentarily18:12
mdeslaurjdstrand: whoops :)18:12
jdstrandmdeslaur: you're next18:12
mdeslaurI'm working on a ca-certificates-java issue, and will go down the list after that18:12
mdeslaurI'm in the happy place this week18:13
mdeslaurmeh, nothing further to report18:13
mdeslaursbeattie, you're up18:13
sbeattieI'm on community this week, and have at least mahara to review.18:13
sbeattieOtherwise, I'm working on apparmor bugs18:14
sbeattieThat's pretty much it for me.18:14
sbeattiemicahg: tag, you're it.18:14
micahgI have patch piloting, as well as everything I didn't finish last week (Thunderbird update, Icedtea regression, thunderbird SRU), all to be completed this week, then there's webkit and possibly a chromium major update if they're on their 6 week schedule18:14
micahgwell, thunderbird SRU not to be completed, but uploaded :)18:15
micahgquestions?18:15
micahgoff to tyhicks then :)18:15
tyhicksI'm in the happy place this week18:16
tyhicksMaking good progress on the freetype update. I noticed that Debian mainly only patched the invalid write vulns, while I'm also patching the invalid reads.18:17
tyhicksIt is a taking a bit longer, but I've got all the tests in place and I've backported everything to oneiric. Hopefully the other backports aren't too bad now.18:17
tyhicksI've got another revision of my patch for bug 842647 done18:18
ubottuLaunchpad bug 842647 in eCryptfs "[git] file blocks duplicated at the end of the file" [High,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/84264718:18
tyhickstest kernels just got finished building and I'll be posting a link to those shortly, after doing a quick smoke test18:18
tyhicksThat's about it for me. I'll be moving on to another update after I'm done with freetype.18:19
tyhicksjjohansen: You're up18:19
jjohansenI am continuing to look at Bug #959560, and any other apparmor bug that surfaces, or needs looking into (that includes following up with Christain on the mod_apparmor bug and also the APPARMOR_STOP mode for debugging).  I need to post out the next revision of the mount rules kernel patch to lkml, get some mount rule tests added to the regression test suite,  I also needed to start catching up on some of the deferred kernel18:19
ubottuLaunchpad bug 959560 in AppArmor "deny mount does not work correctly" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/95956018:19
jjohansensigh, /me needs to also work on getting that paste right so it doesn't show up as one big blob18:20
jjohansenjdstrand: back to you18:20
jdstrandthanks18:21
jdstrandso it looks like there were 6 things in oss-sec we didn't have. still not bad18:21
jdstrand[TOPIC] Highlighted packages18:21
=== meetingology changed the topic of #ubuntu-meeting to: Highlighted packages
jdstrandThe Ubuntu Security team will highlight some community-supported packages that might be good candidates for updating and or triaging. If you would like to help Ubuntu and not sure where to start, this is a great way to do so.18:21

jdstrand[TOPIC] Miscellaneous and Questions18:22
=== meetingology changed the topic of #ubuntu-meeting to: Miscellaneous and Questions
jdstrandDoes anyone have any other questions or items to discuss?18:22
sbeattiejdstrand: I noted you were planning on doing install audits; should we also start verifying qa-r-t tests for precise?18:23
sbeattieI'm asking because I fixed on issue with mysql/qart on precise, but now the upstream tests are failing, and it may require fixing something in the mysql package.18:24
jdstrandsbeattie: I'm not sure how we want to do these. we (I) failed in getting them done for precise and aiui the qa team is incorporating them18:25
jdstrandsbeattie: my feeling at this time is to just update them as we have time18:25
jdstrandand fix any bugs that the qa team reports. we can maybe formalize this a bit more next month. I don't think any of us have time to get this done before april all things considered18:26
jdstrandmdeslaur: what are your thoughts?18:26
sbeattiejdstrand: I somewhat agree, and in fact, the whole reason I looked at mysql was due to GrueMaster pointing out the breakage.18:27
mdeslaurI think we should wait for qa team bug reports and/or patches18:27
sbeattiebut for some things it's better to know in advance...18:27
mdeslaurwell, for stuff like apparmor where we're pretty much the maintainer, I agree we should be looking at them for precise18:28
mdeslaurbut for other packages, I assume the qa team is running them on the dev release18:28
jdstrandsbeattie: certainly. the QA team is supposed to get to the point where they are running these all the time, so the advanced notice is just part of our normal qa process.afaik, we aren't there yet, but should be fixing any bugs that they give to us18:28
jdstrandmdeslaur: oh certainly. if a qrt package is tied to our acceptance criteria, we need to be running it18:29
jdstrands/package/script/18:29
jdstrandsbeattie: can you hand that mysql failure to someone else on the team for now?18:29
jdstrandsbeattie: can discuss outside of the meeting18:29
sbeattiejdstrand: okay.18:30

beamhis opera itself actually works perfectly, but it open where the icon appears on top of the panel to the notification area is slightly unsized (slightly smaller than that of starter and any glare and reflections).I know not, who knows what the problem, but I ceased provoking. so I hope someone knows where the system loads the icon to change it to another level.18:34

ScottKIs there stuff in Brainstorm that's actionable and worth doing?  Admittedly it was quite awhile ago, but I once looked through it pretty deeply looking for something I could say "Nice idea, I'd like to spend some time on that" and came up dry.21:18
