mhall119jbicha: ping00:08
jbichamhall119: good evening00:09
mhall119good evening00:09
mhall119jbicha: I'm updating https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/ReleaseSchedule, but now I'm all confused about what the schedule should actually be00:09
mhall119got a minute to help me?00:09
jbichamhall119: sure00:10
mhall119jbicha: so we're currently on week 23, is there anything that needs to be done this week?00:11
jbichamhall119: yes...PANIC!... but I think I've already taken care of that one :)00:14
mhall119cool, I'll leave that off then00:14
jbichamhall119: you're talking about to get added to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/ReleaseSchedule ?00:14
mhall119jbicha: yes, I'm trying to get it to reflect the new docs schedule00:15
jbichawell next Monday or Tuesday, we need to make a new ubuntu-docs release & make sure the translations/pots files are available in LP for translators to work on them00:16
jbichaI'm still a bit fuzzy on all the details of this, mdke usually handles releases00:17
mhall119how about the week after?  Or is that the 2 weeks for translators to do their magic?00:19
jbichafinal release is April 26 with LanguagePackTranslation deadline on the 19th00:19
jbicharight, I think translators should at least have 2 weeks to do their things as ubuntu-docs is huge00:20
jbichathe Server Guide plans to freeze March 28, that was approved today00:21
jbichamhall119: thank for updating the wiki, I hadn't seen skaet's message when she originally posted it00:23
mhall119jbicha: happy to help, does https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/ReleaseSchedule look correct now?00:24
jbichafinal release is April 26 with LanguagePackTranslation deadline on the 19th00:24
jbichaNonLanguagePackTranslation deadline still applies to kubuntu-docs & I guess server guide00:25
jjesseto be honest and a little sad not much has changed in kubuntu-docs this cycle due to a lack of people working on it00:26
jjessemostly very minor typos00:26
mhall119jbicha: I'm in a little over my head here, so forgive me for making you spell it all out, but what should I put on the wiki for kubuntu-docs and server guide?00:29
mhall119ubuntu-docs is a package?00:30
jbichamhall119: yes, it's a package & I get in over my head all the time :)00:31
mhall119server guide has also asked for a freeze exception, I think they're on the same schedule as ubuntu-docs now00:31
jbichamhall119: yes basically; ubuntu-docs will need to release by ~Tuesday to get on the Beta 2 CDs though & the server guide will freeze on Wednesday00:33
jbichayeah, see also skaet's new email00:34
mhall119jbicha: just read it00:34
skaetjbicha, mhall119 - mail in response to original request sent.   We'll fit what's ready on the Beta CD, main focus is to get it nice and solid for release at this point.00:34
skaetIf you want to come in before the date I've put down, and get on the beta CD +1 from me.  ;)00:35
mhall119skaet: jbicha: I *think* the current state of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/ReleaseSchedule is correct now00:35
skaetmhall119,  thanks for adding in the dates.   I'll tweak it a bit tomorrow, but its close enough now.   Thanks.00:37
skaet:)00:38
mhall119you're welcome00:38

jbichamdke: ping14:07
mdkejbicha: (In case I'm not around at the moment, please provide a bit of information about what you want and I will respond when I get back)14:07
hanniejbicha, in http://jeremy.bicha.net/2012/03/22/ubuntu-docs-a-call-for-help/ I see: If you type help etc.15:02
hannieShouldn't this be Type yelp15:03
jbichahannie: both work :)15:05
hannieah, not in my Dash15:05
hanniejbicha, not in the Dutch version that is15:06
jbichahannie: ah, we should use the new Keywords; field and the Dutch translators should use Help;15:07
hannieYes, the Dutch word for help is hulp. That is understood by Dash15:08
hannieMaybe I should add more keywords in gnome-control-center, if that is where the keywords are located15:09
dpmweird, "help" seems to work for me on a Catalan locale15:11
jbichahannie: keywords are located in each package, so it's yelp.desktop that needs to be improved15:12
hanniejbicha, ok. Don't know why my Dash doesn't accept 'help'15:13
jbichahannie: on your system: /usr/share/applications/yelp.desktop doesn't have the word "help"15:14
hanniejbicha, do you mean yelp.po?15:14
jbichaif you modify that file, you'll also need to run sudo update-desktop-database15:14
hannieok, I'll give it a try.15:15
jbichaI don't know much about translations but yes, you should submit that improvement to Launchpad and to GNOME15:16
hannieRight, I translate for both Gnome and Ubuntu15:16
jbichait probably needs a blog post of its own too; maybe every .desktop should have Keywords; and translators should leave in a few English strings15:17
jbichathat would be cool to be able to search in both English or Dutch15:18
hanniejbicha, thanks for all your information. I will look into it15:18
hanniedpm, thanks for your contribution as well15:20
dpmhannie, no worries. How's the Dutch translation team doing?15:21
hanniedpm, very well. We are working hard on Precise. There is a spurt this weekend15:22
hannie*sprint that is15:22
dpmcool :)15:22
dpmyou guys should blog about the sprint, I'm sure it would encourage other teams15:23
dpmnice to see the untranslated strings going down -> http://91.189.93.77/stats/precise/nl :)15:23
hanniedpm, ok, I will put it on the translators list15:23
dpmgood work!15:23
hannieI will forward the compliment to my collegues ;)15:24
dpmby all means ;)15:24
hanniedpm, can I ask you something?15:54
dpmhannie, sure, no need to ask permission to ask, just go for it :)15:55
hannieHow about this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/25583015:55
ubot2`Launchpad bug 255830 in launchpad "translators who have only made non-accepted suggestions are listed in translation credits" [Low,Triaged]15:55
hanniedpm, I think you have a good point here. I have a suggestion:15:57
dpmactually, since I sent that bug I've changed my mind a bit :)15:59
hannieah, I just wanted to suggest to make string 2 editable, in that way translators with16:01
hanniefull rights can decide which names are put on the list16:01
hannie#2 = "translator-credits"16:01
hannieoh, I forgot to mention that I am talking about ubuntu-docs16:03
dpmsorry, I'm being dragged into another discussion, let me answer in a few minutes16:06
hannieNo worries, it is not that important16:07
dpmhannie, translator-credits were originally editable in Launchpad. I can't remember the exact reason why they were made non-editable, but I could think of it being a requirement for automatically filling them using message sharing. Unfortunately though, and being quite honest, the fact that the bug is marked as low effectively means it is not likely to be worked on by the LP developers16:14
hanniedpm, that answer will do. I reported a bug on a similar subject recently. I'll see what priority it gets16:15
hannieThanks for you time. See you16:16
dpmok, no worries :)16:16
sladenmdke, jbicha et al:  Could you draw you attention to the new (non-default) wallpapers)16:41
sladenhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-wallpapers/+bug/93356216:41
ubot2`Launchpad bug 933562 in ubuntu-wallpapers "FFe: Upload Precise Ubuntu 12.04 LTS wallpapers " [Wishlist,Confirmed]16:41
sladenthese are still waiting on the high-res ones, but you can hopefully see what's on there from the linked flickr group16:41
sladencould you possibly post to that but report that you're tollerant of the upload and that it is unlikely to affect (m)any screenshots as it would only be the Appearance control panel16:42
sladen(if you're okay, can you put that on the bug report so that the release team know I'm not trying to pull a fast one)16:42
jbichasladen: looks good, done :)16:47
jbichamdke: do you think we should do a ubuntu-docs upload today?17:05
jbichathat way translators can get started on the pages we mark as final17:33

Darkwingmdke: It's whining about writing22:30
