[03:16] hey guys, how's it going? === mmrazik is now known as mmrazik|afk === mmrazik|afk is now known as mmrazik [11:03] How do I take part in ubuntu testing ? === _salem is now known as salem_ === bladernr_afk is now known as bladernr_ === yofel_ is now known as yofel === zyga is now known as zyga-food === zyga-food is now known as zyga [19:44] Hi all! [20:30] afternoon Patrickdk === salem_ is now known as _salem [21:20] balloons: do you have a moment or two? [21:40] phillw, sure [21:43] balloons: Chris, our head of wiki at lubuntu is somewhat perplexed that there is very little information on Wiki areas for LightDM. Whilst this not really a QA issue, with the change to LightDM by ubuntu, xubuntu, lubuntu etc. He was wondering where / who he should ask / place information about it on. [21:45] phillw, ahh.. good question [21:46] lightdm in general seems to be a big lacking on docs.. not that it's confusing to use persay, but seems pretty lowkey on the docs front [21:46] *bit [21:46] that said, the basic wiki info shell is here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LightDM [21:47] I'm sure he found that [21:47] afaik, nothing has been done or written since the original adoption of lightdm [21:47] I believe so, he mentioned it at the lubuntu meeting. [21:47] if he is able, I would encourage him to add to and expand the docs [21:48] if he needs a contact, he can talk to these folks: https://launchpad.net/lightdm [21:48] I think he was sort of asking permission to add to the "main" wiki area instead of the lubuntu area. He is that polite at times it is a bit embarrasing. [21:48] robert_ancell is also a good contact [21:49] phillw, ;-) of course he has permission to add to the main wiki [21:49] I know... everyone has that permission, but he does ask! [21:49] I'll drop him an email (he's offline atm) [21:49] that's good.. it wouldn't be a bad idea for him to connect with that team and robert at least [21:50] excellent, thanks :) [21:50] yvw [21:50] how'd the lubuntu crew due yesterday on iso testing? [21:52] My qa mailing list has gone quiet, so I'm hoping things are progressing well. There was still a fail to install one one of the ppc systems - but he was really pushing it by setting up an encrypted /home. If they are experimenting to that degree things are looking good :) [21:52] hehe [21:52] i'd say [21:54] The last of the install sprint land tomorrow. So over the weekend I'm sure the guys will go check things. They really have taken the mantle up of filing bugs 'correctly' and linking them. I'm really proud of how far they have all come on on such a short time. [22:42] balloons: just to get it settled in my mind... when does the RC for beta 2 get generated? Is it on the cron job for ~ 17:00 23rd March? [22:43] Hurray, laptop is back online [22:43] the rc? [22:43] wb MrChrisDruif [22:43] balloons: Release Candidate [22:43] Thanks phillw [22:43] i guess I'm confused.. the image for iso testing will come next monday [22:43] I think [22:44] balloons; I am the Wiki Head for Lubuntu phillw was talking about [22:44] as far as when the images are built, I don't know.. I know it's scheduled, but I don't know the times [22:44] aloha MrChrisDruif [22:44] Aloha ^_^ [22:47] balloons: he is very good at wiki, I'm sure you will kidnap him for stuff on QA. He has already made fantastic inroads on tidying up the lubuntu area. [22:47] hehe [22:47] our QA wiki always needs <3 [22:47] got a link to the lubuntu wiki? [22:47] i'm curious to see the handiwork ;-) [22:48] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation [22:48] Please note that I've only been tidying up mostly [22:50] Currently I want to update this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation/RemoveOldKernels [22:50] MrChrisDruif: do you have the link for alternate / mini iso installations to habd? [22:50] s/habd/hand [22:51] I already added *an* automatic command for removing old kernels, but I recently got a more humanly readable version from the team [22:51] phillw; this one: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation/MinimalInstall [22:51] ? [22:51] It needs putting on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/GetLubuntu [22:52] The link to it you mean? Just like a link for removing old kernels [22:52] MrChrisDruif: that's the one. [22:52] It really does need putting clearly on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/GetLubuntu [22:52] Ah, right. I also cleaned that page up good the other day [22:53] It's already mention on that page phillw [22:54] With links to it from both the 11.10 && 11.04 sections [22:55] MrChrisDruif: my mistake, I had the old page cached in my browser. I have refreshed it [22:55] Good boi [22:56] * balloons is reading thru the lubuntu wiki [22:57] wow.. the lxde looks like a website [22:57] I remember the first versions of it [22:57] it's been so long [22:58] MrChrisDruif: while you are here and in great risk of being kidnapped, balloons is looking to re-write some of the QA area and we have been discussing how much of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Testing may be applicable to QA in general for new commers. [22:58] it was in japanese .. the first site [22:58] the lead programmers homepage [22:59] PCmanFM is Chinese afaik [23:00] balloons: that may be because pcman is Taiwanese? I know Raphael, our art guy, has learnt the language [23:00] ahh.. taiwanese.. that makes sense [23:00] yes.. I'm sure it was his page [23:00] PCman I mean, the programmer who made PCmanFM. Not his real name, I'm sure [23:00] sorry I was rambling while remembering it [23:00] yes.. pcman :-) [23:01] balloons: he is a surgeon in one of the hospitals there. [23:02] small world.. I googledhim.. turns out he did the ie_tab extension [23:03] http://pcmanx.blogspot.com/ there he is [23:03] he's a really patient guy. For someone to teach me how to install the stuff & carry out ./make commands is true testimant to that :) [23:07] "For the novice, commands-line interface commands can appear daunting: sudo gobbledegook blah_blah -w -t -h --long-switch aWkward/ComBinationOf/mixedCase/underscores_strokes/and.dots" [23:07] just made me think about the IRC meeting time agai [23:07] you weren't there, but astraljava and I decided to take the top requested spots and have a poll on them.. I was a bit leery, but :-) [23:07] MrChrisDruif: lol, but so true. [23:07] Does anyone know if that GNOME Shell team ever got off the ground? [23:08] so guess what the results are looking like so far? 2 for each option [23:08] ofc! [23:08] phillw; it's straight from the wiki!! https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UsingTheTerminal [23:09] MrChrisDruif: I recall editing that to include lxterminal for lubuntu? [23:09] They did? Because I really don't like Unity (not bashing, but I just don't) and I would like a version with just GS [23:10] I think you are right phillw [23:11] MrChrisDruif: yup, that was me :) [23:14] MrChrisDruif: as of a posting at http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffeedproxy.google.com%2F~r%2Fd0od%2F~3%2F_0XQD2tbh0c%2F&h=wAQHxj8gkAQFSmrs-0xdDilV9jAHI2y3o52kJLNAuiYcBig [23:15] sorry for long post, it is from my linked facebook page [23:15] Ah, owkay [23:16] Well, that wasn't exactly what I meant ^_^ [23:16] http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/03/gnome-classic-in-ubuntu-12-04-its-like-nothing-ever-changed/ [23:16] shorter link. [23:17] There was a message on some mailing-list a few months ago to get a team together to make a new "flavour" or derivative with just gnome shell [23:17] Not this old gnome stuff ;-) [23:17] I got the heads-up with the upload to youtube [23:17] although OMGUbutnu have been known to screw things up before [23:21] MrChrisDruif: oops... I just realise we are in -testing .... can we head off to #lubuntu-offtopic before I get complained at? [23:22] Where ever you like phillw
